While the King is more laid back than most kings usually are, the Queen can be snappy and on edge. She judges the Selected and Foreign Princes even more than the King manages to do. She appears to be kind and sweet to most, but with all the baggage she has to hide and regret she holds, it's hard to truly be that way for her anymore. When you get to know her, you can see that all that is wrong is how much weight is carried on her shoulders and that she is just as kind-hearted as Alec.

She enjoys spending time with her family, but it's hard for her to be around them or other people, still. Every time she looks at her family, all she can help but feel is regret for what she has done to them. She likes cooking when she is stressed and paints like Kason, whenever she has a little moment of free time. Like Alec and Carmen, she enjoys the outdoors and remembering what it was like to have a sun over her head.

Feeling regretful, because it's almost like she is always in that state. She dislikes people who are hypocritical, overly judgemental, lack a back bone or complain too much over what they don't have.

[ backstory ]

Elise was originally a two, one of the most known actresses over the entire country. She hadn't expected to win her Selection, though, despite how in love she was with Rory. The night he announced the winner, every secret she had was uncovered to him, but he still chose her with the knowledge of them. Most of her backstory is kept secret, the only knowledge of it being what she was before she came to the palace. No one knee that her family themselves had dabbled in getting to know the dark arts and had attended ceremonies where several of their friends had succeeded. Thankfully, Elise had gotten out before she could completely emerge herself in them. But that still didn't keep her from thinking that they were the only way to fix the life she had ruined for her family.

Elise's curse was glory. The curse dampened her ability to be in the spotlight as the queen, leaving her family even more in the shadows than they would have been. When the curse was placed, the witch had said that if Elise's intentions were pure, then she would be able to face a crowd again. If they weren't, then the curse would activate.

To her surprise, the day after the wedding, when photographers had tried to come, the curse activated. It would make it so that if she were ever in the spotlight, or to ever have "glory", she would become incredibly ill, which would last for days on end, or even, in the worst case scenario, her curse could turn those who looked upon her, in admiration or jealousy, to stone.

Rory is an easy going man, despite the stress of his work and secrets. He loves a good laugh and enjoys making people happy. When it comes down to it, though, he can be extremely ruthless. At times, he can be patient, but when he is stressed or in a hurry, he will be even more impatient that Kason.

[ likes ]

Rory likes spending time with his family, but also getting to know knew people. His family means more to him than his country ever will, so that could be considered a bit of a flaw.

[ dislikes ]

He dislikes a lot of things. He wants the best significant others for his children, so he's picky about who they are and what traits they possess. He also can't stand spending much time with his wife, even if it saddens him. After everything that happened, though, he hasn't found the power to forgive her.

[ curse ]

Rory was power hungry for revenge against the rebels, after them having murdered his parents, the night of his wedding. Therefore, the witch decided to fix this. If Rory were to ever act out revenge, the same weight of the revenge would be casted down on his family. For example, if he were to kill out of revenge, one of his family members would die. The other portion of his curse is that a deadly, seemingly endless, storm would rain down on the palace for days if he were to even think about revenge.
