Roman Loveday is known for both his free spirit and his extremely easy-going attitude. No matter what is thrown his way, he is practically impossible to anger and stays cool under even the most ground breaking pressure. He's always been a nice in between of never too energetic, but never too tired. He doesn't get lazy, but he also isn't always following people around, asking if there is a way he can help. But, if he sees someone in need, he can never resist helping them.

Roman is also quite the joker. He loves a good sense of humour. Even if someone isn't much of a joker, he'll still manage to throw a few teases around. Along with this, he's a huge flirt. Alec says that he's worse than Kason whenever Kason decides to be in a flirtatious mood. Even though he flirts with everyone, it isn't serious, of course. It's more of a natural thing than anything else, because he is still extremely loyal to anyone. Ever since he has met Kason, he has never done a single thing to betray the crown prince's trust. It's probably saying a lot that Kason would trust his life in this man's hands, given that he doesn't give out trust easily. This being said, he's overly protective of his friends. If you lay a hand on one of his friends, be prepared to deal with him.

From talking to him, you would never be able to tell he had a history of crime, but it is a fair sized portion of his history. It was something he hated, however, which is why Kason trusted him enough to get him out of it and into a position as his co-advisor.

✢ greek/roman mythology. a little ironically, roman loves the mythology from these cultures. he spends a lot of his time researching them, at least when he isn't working for the crown prince. as a joke, he is always trying to convince kason to paint him something from mythology, but kason has always stubbornly refused to saying that he had to be inspired to paint such a thing.

✢ romance. like prince alec, roman loves romance (yes, people love to make jokes about this one, too). he isn't as much of a romantic as alec, but he does always encourage everyone to try to find it at least once in their lives. when kason told him about his curse, roman had replied with "and you let that stop you?" and had encouraged him to break through the barrier the curse had created for him. he has loved before, but has always had commitment problems in the past with relationships, thus, he never told the girl that he loved her.

✢ fireplaces. he finds comfort in fireplaces, since it reminds him of his grandmother's house. he reads in front of them often, like his grandmother used to read to him and his younger, twin siblings.

✢ humour. if roman isn't in the mood for a joke, then something is definitely wrong. no matter what the situation, roman has a talent for finding humour in it, and he enjoys that aspect of life. a day without humour is a day not worth living.

✢ his friends. it's probably the extremely loyal side of him, but he loves his friends more than anything. he does feel a certain responsibility toward them, but he also finds that his friends are always there for him and people like that are people that he wants to be around.

✢ helping others. roman doesn't set out to help others, but he will help them if he sees that they're in need. in fact, that's how him and kason met in the first place.

✢ reading. well, in order to know about greek and roman mythology, you have to read about it, don't you? that's what roman spends most of his time doing, at least. he doesn't take care of his books like alec does, but he does enjoy passing his time this way.

✢ commitment. other than the fact that the last girl he loved up and left him, he can't really justify his disliking for commitment.

✢ being alone. even as a criminal, roman was hardly ever alone. whenever he worked, there was generally someone there partnering with him. and, even though he doesn't mind it too much, he rather be surrounded by people than to be sitting in a room alone.

✢ his history. needless to say, he's ashamed of his history and wishes for absolutely no reminder of it.

[ weaknesses/strengths ]

✢ commitment. he's never been able to make a huge commitment to anyone or anything. or this reason, he refuses to make promises because he know he won't be able to commit to keeping them. and, while he loves romance, he knows he can't commit to it in the way he should be able to.

✢ indecisive. it takes him a long time to come to a decision and it makes it about twenty times worse whenever someone is standing over his shoulder trying to force him to hurry up. he can make decisions for others quickly enough, but when it comes to him, he's incredibly indecisive.

✢ busy. being the crown prince's advisor, roman tends to be awfully busy, especially since kason works in the way that he does. roman is generally having to help carmen and alec pick up the slack, which is pretty time consuming.

✢ patient. obviously a strength, roman is extremely patient with others. he'll give you the space and time that you need for whatever it is that you need to do.

✢ loyalty. above everything else, loyalty is something that comes naturally and strongly with roman. when he cares about you, as cliché as it sounds, he actually will do just about anything for you, as long as it doesn't include going against someone else he cares about. in that case, well, he's just a lost cause.

✢ tends to drink. growing up around the people he did, drinking was actually encouraged. but ever since he started, he's picked up off of his father's habits of going a bit far from time to time. while he can generally keep it in check, it is something that could be his downfall all the same.

[ backstory ]

When Roman was eight and his siblings two, they had gone to live with their grandmother after their parents were killed "in a car accident". Only, when Roman reached the age of sixteen, he learnt that his parents had not died that way, but, rather, had been in debt and were killed because they couldn't repay it.

Roman helped his grandmother for years, taking car of his siblings, cooking and cleaning, until he was attacked after school one day and the man and woman demanded that he give them the money his parents had owed. After weeks of trying to make the money, without telling his grandmother since he knew it would only upset her, he realised there was only one way to do it. He was forced to go into a life of crime with the man and woman who had attacked him. At the age of sixteen, he had left his home to begin this life, separating all ties he had with his family.

During this life that he hated, he met Kason. The prince had been dealing with Astrid Cane, a woman that Roman himself knew not to mess with, and Roman had helped him pick himself up after a particularly nasty meeting with her. He drove Kason back to the palace, both of them being of the age eighteen at the time, and helped him clean up. Since then, they have been trading favours on and off with each other and over time became each other's closest friends.

As previously mentioned, Roman was never really good with commitment. But, he only dated someone if he really liked them.

astrid cane. before roman was aware of who she was, he dated astrid. five months into the relationship, he found out what she was and what she did and broke up with her. ever since then, he has kept people from having dealings with her.

carmen schreave. the two never dated and the feelings, as far as he is aware, were one sided. it was brief, however, and the two are merely friends now.

lia vesper. the first real love that roman had. they had been childhood friends and then when she found out he had gotten into crime, she told him that she didn't want anything else to do with him. they never dated, especially after that.

dawn is generally a pretty calm character, never raising her voice or getting too excited. but, she won't take unnecessary attitude or anger from anyone. she's known for having a leveled personality and never acting out against anyone, as well as being one of the most helpful people to walk the face of the earth. she much rather give than take, which in the case of the Schreave's, has proven to be helpful.

✢ the royal family. except for kason, dawn enjoys helping the royal family out. from the beginning, she has been attempting to fix the curse that her opposing witch set on the family.

✢ outside events. being close with the royal family, she's typically invited to events that they have, but she only goes whenever they're outside unless there's something else important going on.

✢ the selection. when she was twelve, the first selection had taken place, but she vaguely recalls what happens whenever there isn't one and how the bloodlines can fail without it. therefore, she thinks they're far better off having it than not.

✢ kason. while kason's family doesn't know that the witch he meets with is the one that set the curse on the family, dawn is very well aware of this and knows he is, too. she's always detested his attitude and the way he lets the curse control him.

✢ indoors. with all of the energy she has flowing through her with her magic, she feels too confined when indoors and finds it difficult to maintain her calm personality in check.

being one of the oldest witches, she has a lot of things within her power, but she only uses light magic as opposed to dark. she's one of the main helpers when it comes to the royal family, so she deals with a lot of things involving curses. but, some of the spells she is known for are...

✢ protection. in order to protect the royal family from any further curses, the light witch placed a protection spell over each one of them that keeps them from being harmed through magic.

✢ memory recall. a potion that helps someone recall a specific memory exactly as it happened, rather than just how they remember it.

✢ forgetting. another potion that, after drinking it, with make the person forget what the maker desires for them to forget.
