At the choosing of the Elite, Prince Kason was absent. He had left his chosen Elite on a slip for Alec, so the younger twin was standing in front of the Selected, reading off his own first, and then Kason's. Afterwards, the prince would announce that for a week, soon, the Elite would get to invite up to eight family members and friends to stay at the palace.
