L didn't speak to Skye at all when she came back over to HQ. How could he? Besides, L's thoughts were on something else.

L didn't have a full understanding of this 'romance' thing, yet he had a girlfriend in which he wasn't doing too well with. He hated how it came so easily to Skye and Light, but he struggled to even say "I love you." Here, M was probably thinking L was just using her for the purpose of the investigation. L really did love her with all his heart, he just didn't know how to express it.

Meanwhile, M was slowly going insane in prison. All she yearned for was L's warmth in the cold room. 'Course he was too busy focusing on this stupid investigation rather than the one who needed his help.

L had asked Matsuda to switch with him again on surveillance duty today. He couldn't stand it any longer. M looked so lonely and L desperately wanted to be there with her. Then again, it hit L. He was in control of when they would be released.

It was quite late at night, and most everyone had gone home. Watari took over monitoring Light once Matsuda went home for the day.

L presses a button on the intercom, switching the channels. "Excuse me, but I would like to release M and Light Yagami from their current suspicion and captivity." L knew they wouldn't give up easily but it was still worth a try.

"On whose authority?"

L had a flash of panic overcome him despite him being externally calm. "On the authority of me, I am L, who is currently leading the Kira case. And if that doesn't work for you I have personal permission from Chief Soichiro Yagami, head of the Japanese police force." L hoped he had sounded convincing enough. He had his famous voice filter on as well to assist him.

"Oh! You must forgive me, L, I did not realize it was you! We will release them tomorrow and have them escorted to your headquarters at nine tomorrow."

"Thank you." L hangs up and sighs. He would nervous. M would probably lecture him about "being too soft" or perhaps he should stop thinking on the downside. Maybe she would thank him.

L eyes wander over to Skye, who was fooling with her hair. She had volunteered to stay late because she was truly worried about Light. L needed advice from her that only she knew the best. Dating advice.

"Did you really mean what you said? Light's gonna be back tomorrow?" Her eyes glitter like diamonds, as L says nothing but nods. "Thank you, thank you L!" She hugs him and he just sits there awkwardly not knowing how to respond.

"Well you can repay me by answering some questions I have." L stares blankly at the floor as she raises her eyebrow.

"Uhh what kind of questions?"

L pauses. "Not the kind you're thinking of. I need dating advice. I've never taken M out our first real date and I was considering taking her out soon. One problem: I have no idea how 'dates' are supposed to work." L explains, as Skye smiles widely.

She squeals. "Ooh perfect! I can't really teach you verbally, but maybe we can have a double date! Light and I can go, while you take M. You can just follow what Light does, he's good at romance." Skye suggests, when L narrows his eyes. L certainly didn't want to learn from Light Yagami, but if it was the only way he could improve, he supposed it was worth it.

"Fine."

Skye grins as she watches L. There was no way he could go to a date like that.

"But... we'll need to fix you up first."
