(Music starts playing).
Everyone looked at one another, confused and people began to mutter.
"What's with the music?"
"What's going on?"
"Is that coming from the movie?"
"Why is Mal spray painting the wall?"
"Why isn't anybody stopping her?"
Hadie turned towards the Auradonianss, smiling and answered their question with all the tactfulness of an 8 year old "because it's the isle and no one cares unless it's their place."
He didn't notice the scowls some people sent him as he turned around, oblivious to fact that he had come off as more than a little rude.
Mal snorted, rolling her eyes fondly but said nothing.
(Music starts playing).
"Hey! My posters!" Beast said, upon noticing that at least four of his and Fairy Godmother's posters had been vandalized. "Why would anybody do that?"
"Why would anyone want evil to live?"
"Uh... why does that one have 'down with Auradon' written over it?"
Clay sipped on yet another beer, more than a little bored at this point. Before rolling his eyes "don't you people listen? Based on what we've told you, why wouldn't we be vandalizing your prissy little posters with mottos that go against everything you supposedly stand for?"
No one had a retort to that.
Clay went back to his beer.
(Mal's first verse).
Reza narrowed his eyes at the screen when Mal shoved her way through two very familiar kids.
Through Omar-his ten year old little brother- and his friend who Reza never could recall the name of.
He shot Mal a glare "hey! Leave my little brother and his friend alone!"
Unfortunately for him, the fact that he was only 13 and shorter and even scrawnier than Carlos meant that he didn't come off as very intimidating. Meaning Mal just rolled her eyes at him. Though, if he wasn't mistaken-and he'd been a detective since he was five so he likely wasn't-he had caught the slightest hint of guilt on the older girl's face before she had done.
And seeing as Carlos was glaring at him, he had probably seen it too.
Reza glared right back at him. Vaguely aware of the fact that the music had started back up.
(Jay's first verse).
"Dude!" Aziz exclaimed, startling Jay. "That is so cool! Where did you even come from?!"
"Yeah, you gotta show me how to do that!" Emir agreed, looking amazed.
Their older siblings-who they had mentioned on several occasions-all winced at the idea, along with their mother.
Jasmine looked concerned "Should you really be doing that? It doesn't look all that safe."
"Yeah... I wouldn't recommend jumping without looking. Last time I did that, I broke my ankle and got grounded for a month for sneaking out" Salima grimacing at the memory as she threw her comment out there, towards both her younger siblings and Jay.
All the silent curiosity Jamilah had, had disappeared at the comment.
"I remember that. I had to carry you home." Rafi said teasingly, though his smile didn't quite reach his eyes. "And then Jenna yelled at you!"
Their older sister protested "I did not -"
"You did too-"
"Did not!"
Jasmine let out a long suffering sigh as Aziz jumped into the argument.
"I remember this! You so did!"
Jenna sputtered as Rafi cheered. "No you don't! You weren't even born yet!".
Jay stared at them all as if they were nuts before peering over at Aladdin who looked amused. When he noticed Jay staring, he sent him a thumbs up and mouthed 'nice jump, kid!'
Jade huffed and shot him a look, which Jay ignored. Which would likely earn him an earful later but he hardly cared at the moment. He was still reeling from Family Day and the plan that they were working on-the plan that was going to be revealed at any moment.
They were doomed for sure.
(Jay's first verse).
All the isle kids scowled as Jay's verse reached it end while everyone else simply looked baffled. All wondering why they couldn't take Jay home and what the line even meant.
"Why not-" One of the Tweedledee and Tweedledum cousins asked, only to be cut off by another one who looked just as confused. "What does that even mean?"
"It means he'll rob you blind. " Rick answered, taking pity on them as he threw a glare at unrepent Jay. "Whether it be just a keychain that he takes-"
"Or your dad's watch-"Harriet chimed in. Looking far more amused than the other isle kids.
"Or something bigger." Anthony threw out.
"Wait. Really? Why?" Lonnie asked, curiously. Not a hint of judgment in her gaze. Something Jay was grateful for.
Jade cut in before anyone else could "It's for his dad's shop. If he doesn't steal, then they don't make money. If they don't make money, Jay doesn't get to eat and gets locked outside. And he can't always come over to my house because my mom doesn't want his dad knowing where we live because she says Uncle is creepy."
Jay sputtered "Jade!"
It was her turn to ignore him as the Auradon adults started muttering.
The younger boy groaned and slid down in his street, feeling more than a few eyes on him. He saw Aladdin mutter something to a frowning Jasmine and scowled. Oh, he was so gonna get back at Jade for this.
(Evie's first verse).
Several isle kids who had been at that table Evie had walked on grumbled. Far from happy that she had done that. Though none of them said anything to Evie since they were far from innocent themselves when it came to standing or sitting on furniture they weren't supposed to.
Dizzy clapped and cheered Evie on, so loud that the muttering of the Auradonians hardly reached her.
Evie was pretty sure that she had heard Snow White's little boy call her cool though. She flashed him a smile and a little wave, fighting back a laugh when she saw him hide behind a little girl's hair shyly-one she was pretty sure Chad had been hanging out with at family day prior to the incident.
(Evie's first verse).
Snow looked horrified as the last line hit her ears "Never?"
She wasn't the only one.
And Chad looked very uncomfortable all of a sudden.
Almost as uncomfortable as Evie felt. "Well... yeah... I was locked inside a castle with only my mother, a doll, and a parrot that spat out nothing but insults for company for 10 years. It's not like I could find a lot of love there..."
She tried not to think about her old friendship with Harry Hook.
Tried not to think about the boy she had seen as the brother she never had.
The boy her mother had forced her to turn away after she found out about his little impromptu visits when they were 13.
The boy she hardly recognized these days.
The boy who had been the only one to care about her while she was locked away unbeknownst to her new friends who all hated him.
She tried to meet Harry's eyes but he turned away from her, instead looking at Snow White with barely contained disgust. "It's the isle. What did you expect? For all the villains to actually love their kids?"
He was met with silence.
He huffed, rolling his eyes "What a fucking joke that is."
"Harry!" Harriet scolded.
The song continued on before she could say anything else.
(Carlos first verse).
Diego looked amused. "Who's house even is that? "
Carlos just shrugged-taking a bite out of a Reese cup and , upon noticing the curious gaze of his cousin on it, he threw him one which the older boy caught almost immediately.
Coach Jenkins looked impressed and muttered to his assistant coaches, Genie and Li Shang Jr. "Remind me to focus on that with him during the next tourney practice."
Li Shang Jr shot him a thumbs up, still focused on the movie.
(Carlos first verse).
Hunter winced at the 'useless' part and Ivy inhaled sharply.
Diego shot Carlos a concerned look which the younger boy ignored as he slid down into his seat.
No one was supposed to hear that. ESPECIALLY not his cousins.
This was truly the most embarrassing moment of his life.
"Hey! Don't steal from my kid!" Harriet snapped, wrapping her arm around the kid he had stolen the apple from off screen. Na'vi , he thought the kid's name was.
Carlos winced. Still feeling a bit guilty for having done that. Especially when he saw the Auradonians wrinkling their noses after they saw the kid bite of the apple right after him.
"Ewwww!"
"Why did she take a bite after him?"
"That's so gross!"
Harriet silenced them all with a glare and a loud snarl "Not everyone has easy access to food, assholes. Don't shame my kid for eating what little food he has."
Everyone went quiet after that.
(Mal and Evie's verse).
(All's verse).
"What is it with you guys and being wicked and rotten and evil?" Aikido asked exasperated. They weren't even an hour into the movie and he was pretty sure that someone could invent a drinking game every time you spotted or heard the words 'evil', 'rotten', or 'wicked'.
No one bothered to reply.
All of them just as exasperated as he was but for different reasons.
And unbeknownst to him, someone (*cough* Clay *cough* *cough*) had already invented said drinking game, meaning that half of the isle kids (and even a few of the sneakier auradon kids) were already more than a little drunk at the moment.
(Mal's second verse).
"Freak." Scarlet muttered, ignoring the look of horror her younger brother, Artie, shot her. She still didn't want the isle kids there and she knew deep down in her heart that she never would. Even if Chad and Audrey were already relenting because of course they were.
The little comment from Evie's part about never getting love would have hit Chad in particular considering the fact he'd been in an orphanage until he was six. Which she was technically not supposed to know but hey, it wasn't her fault that the two of them had decided to talk about it when they thought she wasn't around to hear them.
Uma muttered bitterly, glaring at the screen. "Unique my ass."
(Jay's second verse).
Flynn, Aladdin, and Robin all snorted and snickered at how quick Jay was able to steal that teapot from that couple and the looks on their face. All shooting their wives an innocent look when they all looked over at them.
No one noticed when Jay caught a crumpled ball of paper that had been thrown at his head. When it was uncrumpled, he found a note.
'Wanna have a little stealing competition?
Check yes or no.
Signed B. Hood.'
Jay quickly checked yes before his friends could notice and tossed it back to Bobby when he was sure no one else was looking.
Bobby flashed him a grin before returning his gaze back to the movie.
(Evie's second verse).
Doug winced but said nothing, silently reminding himself that Evie wasn't like that anymore. Sending her a small and hopefully comforting smile when he caught her giving him a worried look-silently telling her that she didn't need to worry.
He was relieved when she relaxed and turned her attention back to the movie.
Meanwhile, Jade slapped Jonas' shoulder. Not at all happy with what she had seen on screen. "Jonas!"
Uma glared at him too, just as unhappy giving the fact he was her cousin and crewmate.
Jonas threw his hands up in defense "I was smiling because I was amused!"
"THAT'S NOT BETTER!"
(Carlos' second verse).
Diego wondered what Carlos meant by that but the younger boy refused to look at him.
All too aware of the glare Holiday Sincalir was sending him for kicking over the onions she had planned to sell.
He guessed he had gone a little too far by doing that.
(Mal and Evie's verse).
(All's verse).
"Where did you learn those moves?"
"Who are all those people?"
"Did you guys rehearse this?"
(Mal steals candy from a baby).
Gemma whined in Gil's arms, reaching mournfully towards the candy that she had been robbed of.
Mal suddenly found herself at the end of several glares. All courtesy of the LeGume family and their crewmates.
Even Gil.
Causing her to feel very guilty again.
Which did not help with the nervous feeling she currently had since she knew what was coming. Everyone was going to know about their little plan soon.
And then they'd be sent back to the isle empty handed, back to the hands of their parents who would no doubt be furious with them.
Mal shivered at the idea. They were so dead.
