The Heist
Narrator's POV
Steve sighed as he made his way out of the Avenger's Compound. He stood outside, staring off into the distance, collecting his thoughts; but was interrupted by the sound of a roaring car engine and screeching tires.
He watched a car made its way into the compound, screeching as it took a sharp turn.
The car went past him, then stopped. It slowly backed up to him, and the driver's seat window rolled down, revealing Tony.
"Why the long face?" He asked Steve.
Steve didn't say anything.
"Let me guess. He turned into a baby."
"Among other things, yeah. What are you doing here?" Steve asked.
"It's the EPR paradox." Tony said opening his car door and stepping out. "Instead of pushing Lang through time, you might have wound up pushing time through Lang. It's tricky. Dangerous. Somebody could've cautioned you against it."
"You did." Steve said.
"Oh, did I?" Tony asked. "Well, thank god I'm here. Regardless, I fixed it." Tony said, showing Steve a small device wrapped around his hand.
Steve looked at it.
"A fully functioning space time GPS." Tony said.
Steve gave him a small smile.
"I just want peace." Tony said, holding up a peace sign. "Turns out resentment is corrosive, and I hate it." Tony said, opening the trunk of his car.
"Me too." Steve told him.
"We got a shot at getting these stones, but I gotta tell you my priorities." Tony said. "Bring back what we lost, I hope, yes. Keep what I found, I have to. At all costs. And..." Tony stepped a little closer to Steve. "...maybe not die trying would be nice."
Steve stretched his hand out for Tony to take. "Sounds like a deal."
Tony shook his hand. Nodding, Tony let go of Steve and walked to the back of his car. Steve walked along with Tony.
Tony took out something covered in stuffed animals and a blanket, turning it toward Steve. It was his shield.
Tony presented it to Steve.
Steve sighed and looked at it. He looked o at Tony. "Tony, I don't know."
"Why? I made it for you." Tony said. He tossed it in his hand. "Plus, honestly I have to get out of the garage before Oliver takes it sledding."
Steve put his arm in it, getting a feel for it. He looked at the shield, then at Tony. "Thank you, Tony."
"Will you keep that a little quiet? Didn't bring much for the whole team." Tony said, going back to getting a suitcase out of the trunk. He pressed a button on the trunk, and it closed. "We are getting a whole team, yeah?"
"We're working on that right now." Steve told him.

Ah, yes.
Thor.
The god of thunder.
He was finally back, well kind of.
He had been through a rough patch, which drove him to maybe eating a more than one cookie batch.
He walked through the Avenger's compound, sipping on an ice cold beer.
He looked around as he heard a noise near by.
"Drifting left." Tony said at his left, carrying equipment for this so called time machine. "Move aside there, Lavaski." Tony said, walking past him. "Ratchet, hows it going?"
"It's Rocket. Take it easy, you're only a genius on earth pal." Rocket told Tony.
:•Buuuurp •:
Thor let one roar.
Tony looked back at him.

"Alright, Clint." Bruce said, clicking buttons on the controlling pad of the time machine.
Clint has decided he wanted to try and test the machine out first. He put his helmet on.
"We're going in three, two, one." Bruce presses the bottom.
Clint disappeared in front of their eyes.
The rest sat around waiting, counting down from ten, awaiting Clint's safe return.
"Ah!" Clint returned. He was on the platform of the time machine, groaning. "Argh."
Natasha quickly ran up to him, along with the others.
"Hey, hey." She took his face in her hands. "Look at me. You okay?"
Clint stood up. "Yeah." He nodded at her and presented a baseball glove to her. "It worked." He said. He turned to Tony. "It worked." He tossed him the glove.
Tony caught it.

"Okay, so...it works." Steve spoke to everyone gathered around in an office. "Now we gotta figure out the when and the where. Almost everyone in this room has had at least one encounter with one of the Infinity Stones."
"Or substitute the word encounter by damn near been killed by one of the six Infinity Stones." Tony said.
"I haven't." Scott said. "I don't even know what the hell you're all even talking about."
"Regardless, we only have enough Pym Particles for one round trip each, and these stones have been throughout a lot of different places throughout history." Bruce said.
"Our history." Tony cut in. "So, not a lot of convenience, but sponsors just drop in."
"Which means we have to pick out targets." Clint said.
"Correct." Tony said.
"So, let's start with the Aether. Thor, what do you know?" Steve asked Thor.
Everyone turned back to Thor, who was sitting in a chair with his sunglasses over his eyes. He was motionless.
"Is he asleep?" Natasha asked.
"No, no. I'm pretty sure he's dead." Rhodey said.

"Uh, where to start? Um..." Thor removed his sunglasses and looked at the projection of the Reality Stone in front of him. "Aether, first its not a stone. Don't know if someone's called it a stone before." He pointed at Steve. "Um, it's more of an angry sludge sort of thing. So..." He put some eye drops in. "Someone's gonna need to mend that, stop saying that." He shook his head.
Clint and Rhodey looked at each other.
"Here's an interesting story though, about Aether. My grandfather, many years ago had to hide the stone from the dark elves. Ooooooo~" He joked.
No one laughed.
"Scary beings. So Jane...who actually...." He turned to a projection of Jane. "This uh, um...Jane's an old flame of mine. You know, s-she stuck her hand inside this rock this one time, and then the Aether stuck itself inside of her, and she became very, very sick. So I had to take her to Asgard, which is where I'm from, and we had to try and fix her. We were dating at the time, you see, and I got to introduce her to my mother..." He sighed. "Who is dead and...um... Oh, you know. Jane and I aren't even dating anymore so..."
Bruce signaled him to stop.
"These things happens you know. Nothing lasts forever. The only thing that-"
"Why don't you come sit do-" Tony interrupted.
"I'm not done." Thor cut him off. "The only thing that is permanent in life, is impermanence."
Rhodey and Clint shot each other another glance.
"Awesome." Tony clapped. "Eggs? Breakfast?"
"No." Thor shook his head. "I'd like a Bloody Mary." Thor said.

"Quill said he stole the Power Stone from Morag." Rocket explained.
"Is that a person?" Bruce asked, eating out of a bucket of ice cream, along with everyone who was eating around him.
"Morag's a planet. Quill was a person." Rocket said.
"Like, like a planet? Like in outer space?" Scott asked eating some noodles.
"Oh look. It's like a little puppy, all happy and everything." Rocket said, patting Scott on the head. "Do you wanna go to space? Do you wanna got to space puppy? Puppy can go to space." Rocket teased.

"Thanos found the Soul Stone on Vormir." Nebula said.
"What's Vormir?" Natasha asked, writing things down.
"A dominion of death. At the very center of celestial existence."
Everyone looked up at Nebula.
"It's where...Thanos murdered my sister." Nebula finished.
Everyone grew quiet and looked at each other.
Clint bowed his head and put his hands to it. "Not it." He said.

"Tony. Your Time Stone guy." Natasha started.
"Dr. Strange." Bruce said.
"What kind of doctor was he?" She asked.
"A neuron surgeon." Tony answered.
"Nice place in the village though." Bruce said.
"Yeah, near Sullivan Street." Tony said .
"Mmm...Bleeker." Bruce said.
"Wait, he lived in New York?" Natasha asked.
"Uh, yeah." Bruce said.
"No, no. He lived with me. Are you even listening?" Tony asked.
"You just said, near Sullivan." Bruce said.
"Guys...if you pick the right year...there are three stones in New York." Natasha said.
Tony looked at her.
Bruce sat up and looked at her. "Shut the front door." He said.

"Alright. We have a plan." Steve said. "Six Stones. Three teams. One shot."
Everyone suited up and was ready for this mission.
Natasha and Clint were a team. Rocket and Thor were another. Rhodey and Nebula formed a third one. Tony, Steve, Scott and Bruce formed the last one.
"Five years ago, we lost. All of us." Steve spoke. "We lost friends. We lost family. We lost part of ourselves. Today we have a chance to take it all back. You know your teams, you know your missions. You get the stones, we get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do overs. Most of us are going a place we know, that doesn't mean you should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other." Steve told everyone standing in a circle on the time machine. "And we're gonna win."
Tony looked at him and raised a brow.
"Whatever it takes." Steve said, giving him a small smile. He looked at everyone else. "Good luck."
"He's pretty good at that." Rocket said.
"Right?" Scott said.
"Alright." Tony spoke. "You heard the man. Stroke those keys Jolly Green." Tony told Bruce.
Clint looked down at the small ship in his hand.
Rocket looked up at him. "You promise to bring that back in one piece, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll do my best." Clint said, looking up.
"His promise is good. That was pretty lame." Rocket said.
"See you in a minute." Natasha said, smiling at Steve.
Steve smiled back at her.
The machine started to move.
Everyone put their helmets on, awaiting their departure.
Soon, the machine shrunk them down to the smallest of particles and a sucked them in.
And on their way to obtain the stones they went.
