All Because of The Dog

Narrator's POV

>Knock< >Knock<

"Petey..." Wade peeked his head into Peter's room.

He spotted Peter curled up in his bed, wearing his red hoodie over his head with his back to the door. Wade walked into the room, walking up to Peter's beside.

It was darker than usual in the room.

"How was dinner last night?" Wade asked.

"Mm." Was all he got from Peter.

He looked at the nightstand beside Peter's bed, where a plate of last night's dinner sat on. It had gone untouched.

"I see." Wade said. He sat down on Peter's bedside. "Hey, what do you say we go to the arcade?"

"Not now." Peter sighed.

"Wanna go to the supermarket and eat up all the free samples? I hear they have macaroon samples~" Wade cooed.

"Maybe later."

Wade let his determination drop. "Hm." He thought. "You wanna take Rex for a walk?" He asked. "You know he'll be sad if you don't."

Peter turned to look at Wade. There were bags under his eyes and his eyes were red and puffy. He sniffled. "Why do you have to bring the dog into this?" He sighed.

"So will you come?" Wade asked.

"Give me a minute to got dressed." Peter said sourly, turning his back to Wade again.

"Yes!" Wade jumped up. "Thank you HoneyButt." He leaned down and kiss Peter's cheek.

"Why'd you want to go for a walk all of a sudden?" Peter asked Wade as he grabbed Rex's leash from  the counter. "You never want to do these sort of things."

"Well, I though we could use some fresh air." Wade said. "It's been a while since we've been out."

"Peter." Came Tony's voice from the staircase.

Peter and Wade turned to him.

"Hey Iron Dad." Peter said, bitterly.

"You haven't been out of your room in a couple of days now. How've you been?" Tony asked.

"A bit better. How's Dr. Dad?." Peter said, zipping up his jacket.

"He's still taking it very hard." Tony said. "We haven't heard anything from the police or James or Clint. And we've got no lead on this Murdock guy. I'm afraid...." Tony sighed.

"Dad, don't." Peter said. He clenched his fists. "I know you miss him. We all miss him." Peter said. "I miss him...but I'm sure he's okay, wherever he is."

"Yeah." Tony nodded, sniffling. "He's okay. Totally okay." He looked at Peter and Wade. "You two have fun, okay? If you run into any trouble, we'll be here. Okay?"

"Alright, Tony." Wade said.

Peter watched Tony walk up the stairs. He turned to Wade with tears in his eyes, suddenly embracing him.

"Wade..."

"Sh, sh, sh... I know. I know." Wade said, holding Peter in his arms. "I'm here."

"Do you ever just think about if our stomachs think all potatoes are mashed?" Wade asked Peter as they walked through one of the many parks in New York. He had Rex's leash in his right hand.

Peter walked by his side with his hand son his pockets. "What kind of question is that?" He asked.

"The kind that runs through my mind all day everyday." Wade said. "Like, if a turtle loses its shell is it homeless or naked?"

"You're crazy." Peter said, laughing a little and rolling his eyes.

"I'm serious Pete." Wade said. "Just imagine. You can eat French fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes. Your stomach would never know the difference." Wade explained.

"You have too much free time." Peter said.

"Top ten questions scientists still can't figure out." Wade said.

Peter laughed a little, but stopped when his stomach growled.

"You hungry?" Wade asked.

"Yeah." Peter nodded.

"Let's stop to eat then." Wade smiled at him.

"Well is it?"

"Wade." Peter laughed. "Would you let me eat?"

"Okay, okay." Wade smiled, picking up his lemonade and taking a sip.

The two were sitting at a small table outside of a cafe while Rex quietly sat next to Wade's chair with his leash tied to it. He caught something in the air, which made him stand up.

"I don't know about you but-"

"Is he okay?" Peter asked, pointing at Rex, who had his nose up, sniffing the air.

"He probably smelled another dog, or some food nearby." Wade said.

Rex began to bark.

"I don't think he's after food." Peter said.

Rex pulled at his leash and began to whine.

"Whoa. Easy boy." Wade said, letting Rex.

Rex began to bark louder, pulling more at his leash.

"Rex." Wade called.

Rex didn't listen.

"Rex, calm down." Wade stood up. "What's-"

Rex took off running, dragging the chair that his leash was tied to with him.

"Wade!" Peter called.

"Rex! Rex!" Wade called. "Hey back here!"

"We have to go get him!" Peter stood up. "Come on!" He ran after the dog.

Car horns going off and people shouting accompanied Rex's barking, as well as the sound of the dragging chair.

"Rex! Come!" Peter called.

"Someone catch that dog!" Wade shouted.

People all around Rex began to try and catch him, but they all failed.

Rex only managed to get farther.

"Hah...ah..." Peter panted as he bent over, trying to catch his breath.

Wade joined him too, gasping for air. "God, he's fast."

"Yeah." Peter said. "Looks like we're gonna have to go up high."

Wade looked at him in confusion.

Peter pointed up at the tops of building around them.

"Right." Wade nodded.

"Come on." Peter said, running into people. "Excuse me." He said, making his way through people and into an empty alley way.

"Coming through." Wade followed him.

"There he is!" Peter pointed Rex out, still running with the chair dragging behind him.

~Thwip~

He shot webbing to a building beside the one he and Wade were currently on.

"I'll take this side. You stay there. We'll corner him." Peter said.

"Gotcha!" Wade said, continuing up on the rooftops. "Huh!" He leaped across from roof to roof.

Rex barked and ran off course.

"Peter, he ran into the park." Wade told Peter.

"On it." Peter swung that way.

Wade looked around for a shorter building. It was two blocks away. "Hah...oh god." He sighed and kept running.

"Rex!" Peter called. He was on the ground now in Rex's way as the dog ran toward him. "Rex stop!"

The dog wasn't stopping and simply ran in between Peter's legs.

"Oh no." Peter said as he saw the chair.

>Bam<

It knocked to the ground.

"Urgh..." He groaned, rubbing his head. He looked up to see Rex running toward a man and his son. "Hey! Stop!" He called.

"Not today!" Wade jumped out of no where and tackled Rex, stopping him before he got anywhere near the man and his son.

"Hah..." He sighed in relief. Getting up, he came up behind the man and the boy to apologize for the scare. "Hey, sorry about that. I don't know what came over him." Peter apologized to the man.

The man had a walking stick.

"Geez, that would've been terr-"

The man's son turned around.

"Oliver?" Peter asked, his eyes beginning to fill with tears.

"Peter!" Oliver yelped and let go of Matt's hand, quickly latching onto Peter's legs.

Matt turned around to face what was going on. "Oh." He smiled.

It was a family reunion.

"Hah.." Peter sighed in disbelief. He looked over at Matt then down at Oliver. "Oh." He embraced his little brother.

"How'd you find me?" Oliver asked.

"R-Rex...he-" Peter sucked in a breath.

God, he couldn't believe. His little brother was alive!

Peter picked Oliver up and embraced him, tightly. He pulled away to looked at him. "How'd you escape? Where did you go?" He asked.

"Him." Oliver pointed at Matt.

"So you're the guy who took Oliver?" Wade asked, letting go of Rex and getting up. He dusted off his knuckles, walking toward Matt.

"Wait, Wade! No-"

Wade put Matt out cold.
