Chapter 3: The Mysterious Appearance
The next day, lives were continued as normally as usual. Rhea's mind was somehow clear. Things like the incident and trying to find an evidence to a big misunderstanding were tempted to be thought, but she managed to mentally dismiss it. Right now, it's 6:30pm. After the D-Tribe's rehearsal, it took them 30 minutes before arriving at one of the convenience stores in the Philippines. Ministop.
It brought Ralpha to some cravings for Cornetto ice cream. Diona let out a light chuckle. The reason why they they came here is to buy some snacks.
Those included Rollercoaster potato chips, Pringles and a few others. They even bought Cornetto ice cream for each family member, but they would save it for dinner. Something came to mind that the ice cream would be brought to the freezer in time since the tour bus is closer to Ministop. As for the flavors, Rhea had chocolate, Ralpha had cookies and cream while Ray and Diona both have flavors mixed with Ube and Cheese.
After buying some snacks, the Daniels walked their way towards the counter. Their feet halted to a line at the very back. Right before a few others came in behind them. Unfortunately for them... this line was a bit long. So it might take a few minutes before they would actually pay for the snacks.
After a few moments of falling in line, Ray turned to the rest of his family. "I think we should eat ice cream after we pay for what we bought."
"Why is that?" Rhea asked in confusion.
"Because by the time we get to the tour bus, the ice cream would be melted already."
After a few moments of deep thought, Rhea nodded. "I can see that."
You can hear a foot stomp on the floor. "It's gonna take a long time." Ralpha said.
"Eh, you wait," Diona said.
Why won't Ralpha learn how to wait? Ray thought.
In the end, to keep them entertained, Diona suggested that Rhea and Ralpha should wait outside Ministop and sit around the table, waiting for them.
This brought Ray into concern. One gut-feeling told him that Rhea could watch over him, but another part told him that she has a lot to learn about karate. Ray had been trying to find the right time to teach her more about Miyagi-Do Karate, but it was occupied by other things.
With that, he turned to Diona. "But who will look after them?"
Diona placed her right hand on his left shoulder. "It'll be okay, Ray. And besides, she knows how to be aware of her surroundings, right?"
Ray nodded. "Yeah, I guess so."
With that, Rhea and Ralpha ended up waiting outside Ministop. They were seen sitting around one table with a lot of entertainment in mind. Ralpha was seen watching Godzilla on YouTube with his phone. Rhea, on the other hand, did nothing but sit there with caution. Her mind was filled with self-awareness and her eyes were carefully looking out for people who were going to kidnap them. And if they're going to kidnap them, she might as well call out to their parents for help. Or maybe she could defend herself when she had to.
Then all of a sudden, something funny was surrounding her, but not in a good way. Her body sat there like a statue. This bad feeling that was building up inside of Rhea had rooted inside her mind. Something told her she should go back inside with Ralpha and talk to her parents, but a single muscle couldn't move.
Soon after, the bad feeling was getting stronger. Rhea had enough of it, so her legs flipped over on the other side of the chair and her body was whipped behind her.
The first thing she saw before her led her to raising her hand in front of Ralpha. She could hear him asking, "What is it, Ate Rhea?"
Then, he gasped in shock. Rhea was assuming he was walking behind her, but it was overcome by the intuition. An intuition that includes him sitting there, feeling like he needed protection.
Right before her was a person in a cape and a black hood. No face was seen. This person was wearing a black, leather armor with a black shirt under it. He also wore matching jumpsuit leggings and boots.
Nothing else occurred in Rhea until a bad feeling struck through her again. She was about to launch forward with Ralpha to their parents' direction when she felt a kick on her stomach.
Rhea turned to the black-hooded person with a pained expression. Her eyes were shooting glaring daggers at him. Her body pushed herself back up and the only thing left... was to use martial arts to defend herself.
Rhea looked at the unseen face of this person and formed a defense position. Her right fist was close to her chest with her other fist being dragged to the stomach level. Her elbow almost made contact with her left side of the stomach. Her right foot was steeped forward with her knee slightly bent. Her left foot almost made a tiptoe behind her body and her knee was also slightly bent. A glare on her face indicated that she was waiting for this person to attack. The black-hooded person delivered a forward punch to her face, but her right hand swooped in to block it using her "wax on, wax off" skill. Rhea launched a kick to the stomach.
The black-hooded person returned it with a roundhouse kick delivered to the right stomach. Rhea tried to use the "sand the floor" skill to block it, but it was one second too late.
"Aaagh!"
The clashing went on and on.
Rhea's right hand delivered a roundhouse kick to his left temple. It landed a hit. He even returned with the same roundhouse kick she did, but she blocked it with the "paint the house" skill.
Rhea successfully blocked another kick with the "sand the floor" skill. But then, she was punched on the chest. On and on, Rhea tried to defend herself. She was still improving, but she was nowhere near being safe. That's because she remembered a few martial arts skills taught to her by her dad when she was little. After the day she became ten, her undisciplined actions with Ralpha led her to stop learning karate as punishment. Since then, after she apologized to her family — especially her brother — Rhea waited for the right moment to learn more about karate and self-defense. But so far, that moment didn't come.
Soon after, a kick to Rhea's stomach was felt again. This time, her back hit three trash bins and she landed on her butt.
Rhea was one step closer to being in complete pain. Her shirt was pulled up to the black-hooded person's height. His right hand was formed into a knife, ready to strike her. Just as his hand was about to launch forward to give her the final attack, a force pushed him away from Rhea. This caused his left hand to loosen the grip of her shirt. And she landed on her hands and the left side of her butt.
Rhea's head turned towards a familiar figure, going face-to-face with the black-hooded person. It took less than a moment before a sigh of relief escaped her mouth.
Ray was facing off against the black-hooded person.
"What did you do to my daughter?" he asked, glaring at him.
No answer was heard.
"Answer me!" Ray said.
Still, no answer came out of his mouth.
"Take one more step and I'll call the police on you!" Ray continued. "Or maybe..."
Ray then, formed a defense position. This was the same defense position as Rhea's. His eyes shot glaring, warning daggers at his opponent. "You don't want me to do this, do you?"
Rhea was expecting a fight scene between Ray and the black-hooded person. But surprisingly enough, the black-hooded person took a few steps backward. Then, he turned back and ran away.
Ray's eyes widened in surprise. This was not what he expected at all! His eyebrow raised in confusion for a moment. Questions started clouding his mind, but no idea nor a single answer came in. After a moment, he turned to his daughter. His eyes widened seeing how much pain the black-hooded person brought her.
"Rhea!"
He quickened his pace in his walk towards Rhea. Once he kneeled down beside her, he lent her a hand. Rhea immediately took it and with strength from her father, she rose onto her feet.
Ray's hands landed on Rhea's shoulders when a voice of worry escaped his mouth. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
"Kinda painful, but I'm okay," Rhea answered.
You can see Diona arriving in the scene with a plastic bag in her hands. Her face was plastered with surprise and confusion as she turned to the direction where the black-hooded person retreated. Ralpha walked to her right side as Rhea and Ray wrapped their arms around each other.
"Who is that guy?!" Ralpha asked his dad.
"Idon't know, but whoever it is, they can't be good," Ray answered simply.
