Introduction
Being a child out of wedlock was typically viewed as problematic. Something to be ashamed of, something to run from. Most families tried to hide a scandal like that. Perhaps the parents would hurry and get married so no one would find out. Or disown the child the moment it was born, giving it up to a couple who would take the sinful secret to their grave. But for the prince of Camelot his daughter the most precious gift the gods could have ever given him. For she was a symbol of his love. And for the kingdom, she was the promise of a bright a glorious future. After all, it wasn't everyday that line of succession was intertwined with the gods. Fore the son of King Arthur, Prince William, had managed to fall in love with a goddess from the heavens.
Prince William of Camelot and Valkyrie Astrid of Asgard were together for many years, their love growing stronger with every passing day. But their love was never meant to be. Odin, the king of Asgard, had declared that his Valkyries should remain single maidens. Saying that men would cause to much of a distraction. He didn't want the fiercest warriors in the realm to have any weaknesses in fear that it would be used against them. If a Valkyrie was to fall in love and have a child Asgard's enemies could use that against them. This law was a way Odin could keep more people safe and out of harms way along with keeping Asgard's defenses strong and unbreakable.
There was speculation among the Valkyrie about what Odin would do to a child if he found out it was one of his Valkyries who had had it. Some speculated that he would take the child and send them off to Alfheim, Vanaheim, or Midgard to grow and live out their days far away from the ties of Asgard. Others said that he would give them to a noble Asgardian couple so he could continue to keep an eye on them as they grew, after all, the children would be citizens of Asgard. But no one knew for certain what Odin would do with the children he discovered, but one thing was for sure, neither the mother nor the father would be able to rise their child. Odin would simply never allow it. The only thing the Valkyries were sure about is that if Odin found out about the Valkyrie's lovers he would slay the men, saying that they had offended the throne of Asgard. Then, once the child and the father were taken care of Odin would turn his attention to the Valkyrie who disobeyed one of his direct rules. In which the Valkyrie would be stripped form their tittle for however long the king saw fit.
So when Astrid fell pregnant both her and William decided it was better for them to go their separate ways in order to keep the child and the child's father a secret from the Odin. It was hard for them to say goodbye, and many tears were shed, but it was something that had to be done. A few months latter, after William had last seen Astrid a newborn babe showed up on the palace steps. The moment William saw the child there was no doubt in his mind that it was his. Astrid had named the their daughter Kaylee, a simple but powerful name.
As Kaylee grew she began to resemble her mother more and more. She had fair skin that seamed to glow under the light of the moon and blonde hair that shined like gold in the warm light of the sun. Her stature was taller than most girls, even from a young age she always stood a few good inches taller than the other kids her same age. The only thing that her father had passed down to her was his forest green eyes that sparked with love and wonder.
Kaylee was viewed as a gift from the heavens. The princess who would lead Camelot to unimaginable glory. However it wasn't Camelot that would need her, it was Asgard.
