Chapter 4

"So where am I going?" Jason asked.

"New Rome kid. Its the place where powerful young lads like us go," he said, "Speaking of which, I want you to have this."

Saying so he handed Jason a gold coin, engraved with markings Jason couldn't decipher. It looked solid gold, though he had no idea why this bearded man would have such an interest on him. The way he looked at Jason, it was obvious that the man knew Jason. He had stormy blue eyes similar to that of Jason. Though he looked about twenty five, Jason sensed that his mind carried the weariness of a thousand year existence. Now if he could just figure out which immortal stood before him...

The bearded man broke his thought process.

"Well, I should be going boy. Do not fear Jason. I shall always stand by you. We shall meet again,"

Only later would Jason realize that he never told anyone his name, but his memory was already fading. He made his way up the cold stairs of the huge marble steps. He saw two men intensely discussing about something. They stopped abruptly after seeing him.

"Well then. Hello kid. You want some jellybeans?" One asked.

Jason couldn't understand much of what they were saying. He was still a kid after all. He just stared blankly at them until they burst out laughing.

Seeing them laughing at him filled his little three year old self with anger. He stared at his new acquaintances, gauging them, sensing their feelings.

"This one's got a fire in his eyes. I would say that he is a son of Mars," one wagered," What do you think?"

Jason listened, waiting to see what the other one thought of him. He felt like he was glued to the ground, his body refusing to cooperate with his mind. A thousand thoughts raced through his mind. It shouldn't have been possible, he thought. A voice cut his train of thought.

"Is it possible that he is you know... that kid? The one of the prophecy? Surely this little fella is important. Otherwise Aquilon wouldn't have bothered with him," the other one said.

"Drop it," the first one warned, "The kid has enough to worry about."

His comrade opened his mouth, apparently meaning to say something, but was cut short by a horn so loud it left Jason staggering.

"How? The camp shouldn't be under attack. What is it this time?" he cursed.

And the two men donned in purple cloaks jumped off the stairs, leaping five at a time until they reached the front gates in front of a wide river. And on the other side there was a group of monsters. Leading them was a monster dreaded by the legion.

And Jason ran as fast as his two legs could carry him. Leading the small army was a great armored giant with a single eye, just like the one he had seen on the way to camp Jupiter.
