Chapter 4: Aerial's True Colors

"I don't know what this whole 'future husband' stuff is about, but what I do know is you're destroying something that's precious to someone. Seeing what you've done and said, I can't stand by any longer." You said to Guel as he furrowed his brow at you.

"What the hell's your problem?" Guel said in an angered tone as you took a step back nervously as he got in your face. "Don't you know who I am?" He asked just raised a brow in confusion.

"Um...A pushy suitor?" Suletta stammered as she hid behind you nervously.

"Pfft...!" The two girls that were accompanying Guel couldn't help but let out a small giggle as they covered their mouths while Guel was getting even more mad.

"I happen to be the heir to one of the three branches of the Benerit Group, the head of the Dueling Committee, and the reigning Holder!" Guel yelled out while proudly pointing his thumb at himself as you and Suletta were left confused.

"Holder?" You and Suletta muttered as you two looked at one another in an attempt to figure out what he meant.

"The school's number one pilot, as chosen through duels." Guel explained the position of being the 'Holder' means.

"T-That may be true, but...But what's wrong is wrong!" Suletta said as Miorine stared at her in surprise. "Please tell Ms. Miorine that you're sorry!" She said as you gulped down a breath and looked back to Guel.

"Y-Yeah, destroying another person's belongings...This can't go unchecked!" You said as you and Suletta tried standing up for Miorine.

"Ha! Here at this school, right and wrong are decided through duels. Or would you like to duel me yourself?" Guel began to laugh in a cocky manner, thinking neither of you would accept.

"I accept..." Suletta said, surprising you all as she stepped out from behind you.

"What?" Guel said in confusion of what he couldn't believe he just heard.

"You and I will duel!" Suletta said as she nervously stood before him.

"Stop it! This has nothing to do with you!" Miorine yelled at Suletta, but Guel raised his hand out to make her stop speaking.

"Me too..." You muttered as you stepped as firm as you could next to Suletta with a determind look on your face. "...I-I can't let what you've done go unresolved...I'll take a duel against you, as well!" You said to him as you nervously clenched your fists.

"Sounds fun. If you two lose your duels, you'll have to leave the school." Guel said with a condescending glare.

"Right." You and Suletta nodded in agreement.

"You idiots!" Miorine yelled as Suletta took a deep breath.

"We'll do it." Suletta said as Guel pushed pass you two and headed to the exit.

"I'll take you on first, Mercurian. Let's go." Guel said as he left with the girls that were accompanying him as you and Suletta nodded at each other before heading off after them.

After challenging the current number one pilot in the entire school to a duel, you were led off somewhere to watch the battle as you would be dueling Guel after Suletta. Guel led you to the Dueling Committee's quarters where they would watch the duels take place, but even though you had managed to separate yourself from Guel, you still didn't feel safe yet for different reasons. You were sat stiff on the couch of their quarters as your hands rested on your lap nervously while one of the members, Secelia Dote, was leaning close to you with a smug and taunting look on her face as she looked at you with teasing eyes.

"Hey, what did you say your name was?" Secelia asked as she cocked her head to the side in a cute way, but you were still intimidated by her.

"Y-Y-Y/N..." You stammered as she moved around to the other side of your head.

"Hmmm~? Y/N, huh? Arriving out of no where and putting on a nice show for us, I'd say you're pretty cocky, right? Trying to show everyone up like that with your cool white mobile suit?" Secelia said as she stood up and climbed the couch to sit her rear end next to your head, making you even more flustered as you couldn't help but acknowledge her good looks.

"N-N-No!! I wouldn't even d-d-dream of doing something like that!" You said as you turned your head in the opposite direction of her.

"Hey~!" Your head was suddenly snapped back to her direction as she held you by the chin and pushed her face closer to the point you were scared to breath the same air as her. "Look at your upper classman when she's talking to you. Especially if I am the one doing the talking~" She said while tilting your chin up higher, making you yelp.

"S-S-S-S-SOMEBODY!! SOMEBODY HELP!!" You yelped in fear as Shaddiq entered the room.

"Secelia, don't go making the new student uncomfortable." Shaddiq said as he sat down on the small coffee table in front of the large screen in their room as he began setting things up on his student notebook, tapping away at its screen.

"What? I'm just letting him get to know me, isn't that right, newbie?" Secelia said with a teasing tone and smug grin as you managed to slip out from her side and sat behind another member of the committee, Rouji Chante, a boy younger than you.

"Too close. Please step away." A little Haro bot spoke on behalf of Rouji as you looked at him.

"A-Ah, I'm sorry..." You apologized before noticing Shaddiq patting a spot on the coffee table next to him.

"Relax, Y/N, you should be as comfortable as possible right now if you really intend on dueling Guel once his first duel is over." Shaddiq said as you took a seat next to him to accept his offer, but kept your distance.

"I do intend to duel him if it means he apologizes, but it's not like I wanted to duel him in the first place...Ah, how could I already be making my first enemy on my FIRST day at the academy?" You said while scratching the top of your head with both hands.

"Don't worry, Guel is just a hot shot like that when it comes to things like this. I'm sure you'll make plenty of friends once this is over. You already seem popular after that mock battle you displayed for everyone." Shaddiq said as you smiled a bit, feeling relief from Shaddiq's kindness. "Well, for now, let's enjoy the show. Looks like Guel and Miss Mercurian are ready to enter the battlefield." He said as you looked to the screen as the lights in the room turned off and the screen switched to display the dueling grounds.

"Hey, is everyone watching this?" You asked Shaddiq.

"Hm? Yeah, most of the students here tune in for these kind of things if it means a break from their studies." Shaddiq said as watched two mobile suit carrying crates arrive on the tactical testing sector grounds. "They've arrived." He said as he tapped away at his student notepad and turned on its mic feature as you watched nervously.

"Suletta..." You muttered her name under your breath, before remembering what your father said to you before he left, and that made you even more nervous.

You watched as the hatches to both shipping crates slowly opened to reveal both mobile suits as they stood at opposite ends of the dueling grounds. The first one to speak out was Guel with his red Dilanza as he connected to the communication interface of the dueling grounds, a line to the dueling committee's room, and to his opponent.

"KP001, Guel Jeturk. Dilanza, let's go!" Guel officially announced his attendance as the locking arms around his Dilanza opened and his mobile suit was ejected out of the container and stood on the battlefield, raising the target above its head for their opponent to try and take.

"Show-off. Aren't you going to watch, Elan?" Shaddiq asked as you followed his gaze to another member of the committee, Elan Ceres.

"I'm not interest." Elan said as he continued to read his book in his hand.

"Huh? S-Since when was this person here?" You thought to yourself in surprise as you just turned back to the screen to give it no more further thought.

While preparing for his duel against Suletta, the console in front of Guel switched to a camera view of the Jeturk house command room and a picture of his brother appeared.

"Why accept a duel from that country bumpkin and the nobody who bit his tongue?" Guel heard from his console as he turned to see his brother, Lauda on screen.

"I'll make it quick for them. I'm the future ace of Dominicus, after all." Guel said with a confident smile as his operating system alerted him of his opponent who was coming out. "There she is. The Mercurian girl." He said as his optical sensors zoomed in on the Aerial who now entered the battlezone.

"She's got a flashy one, too." Secelia commented on the look of Suletta's mobile suit as she watched from Rouji's tablet.

"I don't see a logo. Could it be handmade?" Rouji said in wonder as his Haro was talking to the air about how Aerial's colors resembled a flag, though no one paid the boy any attention as Shaddiq spoke up to the combatants and all who were viewing the duel.

"With mutual consent by both parties, we will now begin the duel. As always, victory will go to the first one to break the blade antenna of their opponent's mobile suit. Both parties, face off!" Shaddiq announced as the screen displayed both pilots, but something appeared that shocked everyone who was watching.

Instead of Suletta's face that should have appeared to represent Aerial, it was Miorine Rembran's face who popped up on the screen as she was the pilot behind Suletta's beloved mobile suit. You were wide-eyed with shock as you were beyond confused as to how Miorine managed to get in the pilot seat.

"Huh? W-Why is she piloting the Aerial?" You asked in confusion as Shaddiq also checked some things out on his student notepad to see what was going on.

"What's the meaning of this, Miorine?" Guel asked over his mobile suit's intercom as Miorine gripped the controls tightly inside of the Aerial.

"I'm sick of people making decisions for me. This is my fight!" Miorine said with a firm tone, surprising Shaddiq as he stopped scrolling on his notepad and Guel powered on his beam lance.

"Impudent girl. Have it your way. I'll show you firsthand that you're no match for me." Guel said as Shaddiq spoke up to him.

"Guel? Do you approve the change in duel opponent?" Shaddiq asked as he readied the button to change the name to Miorine's name on the duel display.

"I approve." Guel said as he turned back to his new opponent and the duel display changed to show 'Guel Jeturk vs Miorine Rembran' on screen for everyone. "Victory is never decided by mobile suit performance alone..." Guel began to recite the chant that both duel parties must say before battle.

"Nor by the skill of the pilot, alone..." Miorine continued the chant as she readied herself for the duel and the environment around them changed to display the moon.

"The result itself is the only truth!" They both chanted as they finished the chant at the same time.

"Fix release!" Shaddiq announce as the duel began and both Dilanza and Aerial took off.

You watched nervously as Dilanza race through the terrain to close the distance between himself and Aerial, and the difference between their skill was apparent as Miorine had trouble controlling her stolen mobile suit as it slowly ran across the grounds.

"Weapons. Where are the weapons?" Miorine was scrolling through the unfamiliar side menu of the console on her right before she finally found a weapon selection and managed to equip the beam rifle on Aerial's back.

Aerial reached behind itself as the beam rifle detached from its rear mount and anchored itself into the Aerial's hand. Miorine took aim as best as she could while her mobile suit stood in an awkward and off balance stance, and from the first shot that came out from her weapon, the force was too great as it sent Aerial flying back, tossing the weapon away as she crashed on the ground against her back. Guel continued his push as the shot Miorine fired flew across the air, completely missing the area he was in.

"Did you think any amateur could handle a mobile suit?" Guel said as he fired pot shots at Aerial with his chest beam vulcans.

Your teeth were clattering behind your mouth as you watched in a cold sweat as Miorine managed to get Aerial back on her feet and began firing the head vulcans in retaliation. Her shots would only graze the ground near Guel as he maneuvered the terrain easily to his advantage while Miorine was stood still firing potshots.

"It's my life...let me do as I please! I'll decide for myself!!" Miorine yelled in anger as Guel got close and used the blunt end of his lance to strike the cockpit of Aerial, making Miorine spit up unconsciously from the violent strike as the mobile suit was sent sliding down the hill below and rolling some meters away from Dilanza.

"T-This can't be right...She's not a mobile suit pilot! C-Can't we do something?" You asked, but Shaddiq just shook his head.

"Both parties agreed to the terms of the duel, the outcome is all that can be accepted." Shaddiq said as you nervously turned back as the display showed the knocked down Aerial.

"Miorine..." You muttered in worry as you didn't like the chances against the princess of the school.

"Take a good look at yourself. You're nothing more than a trophy." Guel said to Miorine before an alarm rang out through their mobile suits and the area, catching everyone's attention. "An alert? What? An intruder?!" He said in confusion the image of Nika Nanaura popped up on display. "Who the hell are you?!" Guel yelled as the camera's zoomed in on a speeding electric bike heading to the Aerial.

While everyone was watching the exciting duel that was suddenly interrupted by an intruder, a strange feeling rang through your body and your mind felt a strange connection briefly come between you and someone else for a moment. This feeling was familiar as you brought your hand up to your head and paid close attention to the intruder heading for the Aeiral.

"Is that...Suletta?" You thought as you were feeling uneasy as she grew closer to her mobile suit.

Once she reached her knocked over mobile suit, Suletta climbed onto the cockpit of Aerial before accessing an outer panel that served as an access point to open the cockpit from the outside. The cockpit shut off and all systems moved to standby as the light from outside peered in and Miorine looked up in confusion.

"Why is--AAAGHHH!!" Miorine yelled in shock and pain as Suletta gave her a hard helmet butt and Miorine accidentally made the communication mode switch to the outercoms outside for everyone to hear clearly. "What are you doing?!" She asked in irritation while holding her head.

"Give it back!" Suletta demanded with a serious look.

"What?" Miorine was too confused on what she meant.

"Aerial is mine!" Suletta stated with a firm tone.

"I told you, this has nothing to do with you!" Miorine said as the two began to struggle over the pilot seat, making things awkward for the viewers.

"Then fight in your own mobile suit!" Suletta said as she tried shoving Miorine out of the seat.

"Don't be so stingy! It's just another mobile suit!" Miorine said as you looked to Shaddiq with a raised brow as he just raised his shoulders in confusion to everyone else.

"Aerial isn't just another one!" Suletta yelled as she managed to detach Miorine from the seat and slip in behind her. "We were raised together, as family!" She yelled as Miorine stared at her strangely.

"Family?" Miorine asked as their struggle came to a brief stop.

"Why don't you let me fulfill my responsibility by winning? Aerial and I would never lose to the likes of him!" Suletta said sheer confidence in herself and Aerial as Guel was angered by what he just heard.

"The likes of him?' TCH! Shaddiq, I'm changing opponents again!" Guel yelled as Shaddiq agreed to his request.

"Give him the go ahead, Secelia." Shaddiq said as Secelia pulled out her student notebook.

"Sure thing~" Secelia hummed as she tapped away at the duel settings and change the name back to Suletta as Guel gave chase, moving forward in his Dilanza.

The thrusters on Dilanza roared to life as he barreled his way after Aerial with rage blinding him while his lance was tossed away and he pulled out a beam rifle from his back.

"Brother!" Lauda called out to Guel, but his voice couldn't reach his already raged mind.

"I'll correct your ignorance, you country bumpkin!" Guel said in fury as he began firing shots at the Aerial, missing by a few inches with each blast.

You were locked in a state of focus as you watched the Aerial slowly rise from the ground, and the connection you were feeling between yourself and the mobile suit grew stronger as you could tell how serious Suletta was about this battle. While setting herself up, Miorine couldn't help but stress about how fast Guel was approaching.

"Straight ahead!" Miorine warned Suletta.

"My mother taught me, 'If you run, you gain one, but if you move forward, you gain two." Suletta said as Miorine looked at her in confusion, but you were feeling entranced by her words.

"What?" Miorine asked as she was lost by what she was talking about.

"When you run, you gain one by not losing. But if you move forward..." Suletta trailed off as Guel was closing in with the shots landing closer and closer.

"You can win?" Miorine asked as the system came to life and hummed an electrical noise that surprised Miorine with how many more systems were being activated.

"Whether you win or not, there are two things you gain. Experience and pride." Suletta said as red lights began to flash up the dark parts of the Aerial as you slowly stood up in shock. "Not to mention trust!" She said as the Aerial was fully online and ready for battle.

With the return of its true pilot, the Aerial seemed to have gain new life as red lights covered parts of its body, and taking a strange stance, pieces of the machine ejected off its steel floated around in the air leaving data trails behind its pieces. Extending out its left arm, the pieces that came off swarmed around the left arm and came together as Guel fired a shot at Suletta, and the blast seemed to bounce off a force field that scattered the beam to the reflective barrier behind Aeiral. Once the smoke cleared, it was revealed that the bits that separated from Aeriral had come together to form a shield as this shocked everyone.

"A shield?" Lauda said in shock as he stood up from his seat in the Jeturk House control center.

"Impossible...was that an...I-field?" You thought in disbelief of the type of technology you were seeing.

"She blocked it. In that case...!" Guel grinned as he blasted ahead with his thrusters and tossed away his beam rifle to equip a beam saber, but no one could have predicted what would come next.

Before Guel could finish switching to close-combat tactics, the bits that formed the shield flashed red before breaking apart and floating around before stopping to hover around the Aerial, and at the end of each bit, was a barrel that caught everyone off guard. With a blinding flash of green light coming from each end of the bits, beams began to continuously fire away and lay into the Dilanza, sending it flying back as they flew all over the air to hit different vital parts of the mobile suit. Bits and pieces kept flying off Guel's mobile suit before the beams sliced through the limbs of the Dilanza, dismembering the mobile suit as the cockpit and headpiece remained attached and Guel fell to the ground, unable to battle.

"What just happened?" Guel said in complete shock of what was happening to him as you were jaw dropped and your right hand began to shake. "What kind of mobile suit is that?" He asked as bits of his Dilanza fell in front of him, but his eyes were focused on Aerial as the bits returned to their original place on their mobile.

"GUND-ARM...Gundam." Elan said as his attention was finally captured, and the name of the machine he uttered made you flinch as you nervously stared at Suletta's machine as a weapon from its right shoulder flipped up and Aerial pulled out a beam saber.

"W-What...What the hell are you?!" Guel screamed in confusion and despair as Suletta and Aerial finished this duel with one last swing, slicing through Dilanza's antenna along with Guel's pride.

The Aerial knelt down and powered down into an idle state as its left hand was raised up to the cockpit and that hatch opened for Miorine to climb out on to the palm without her helmet. She stood up in awe as the feather's from Dilanza's antenna slowly fell around her and light from the simulated sun shined upon the battleground. While she stood there in surprise of what happened, a timid voice spoke up behind her.

"Suletta...you're..." You muttered under your breath as you lowered your head and held your chest as it felt painfully tight.

"Excuse me..." Miorine turned around to see Suletta with her helmet off as well as she timidly climbed out of the cockpit. "I-I won." Suletta stammered nervously as Miorine turned around fully.

"So it seems." Miorine said as she reached back into the cockpit and grabbed Suletta's notepad from the console. "Suletta Mercury..." She spoke her name as she tapped a few things on Suletta's notepad before putting it next to Suletta's suit crest as the space suit the Mercurian girl wore changed in color and the emblem turned into the one Guel owned.

"Huh? What the...How did you..." Suletta was too stunned and confused to get out a full sentence as she looked at her new suit and colors.

"This attire is the emblem of victory. The emblem of the Holder. It's also the emblem of my fiancé." Miorine said as Suletta's eyes shot opened in shock like they were about to pop out of her head. "I told you, didn't I? Those are the rules." She said.

"But I...I'm a woman..." Suletta said as she was completely thrown for a loop by this fact, but the next thing Miorine said was an even bigger curve ball for the new Holder.

"I guess Mercury is rather conservative." Miorine said as she raised her hand to the right side of her head to fix her hair as she held it there in an unintentional cute fashion. "That sort of thing is commonplace here." She said as Suletta was left speechless and shocked with her jaw so heavy it could have possibly fallen off due to shock. "Nice to meet you, my groom." Miorine said as she mutually greeted herself to her soon-to-be newlywed.

Shaddiq was about to announce the winner and tell the duelists to await further instruction until they could leave, but was confused when you suddenly turned and walked towards the door. You exited the room and walked down the hall before making turn after turn in the hallways. Your heart was beating faster than before and your head was hurting as flashes of a younger looking Suletta flashed in your mind. The image of much younger Suletta smiling in the middle of a grass field as the sun of Mercury setting behind her flashed in your mind as you came to a stop in the hallway and slammed your back against the wall. You slid down to the ground until you sat on the floor and a single tear rolled down your eye as you hugged your knees to your chest.

"Suletta...you really are..." You muttered with a shaky voice as you remembered what you were told.

"...Don't forget we're counting on you. Make sure whatever you do here, see it through to the end." The words your father said echoed as you raised your head with a sad look and remembered a conversation you had with your mother.

"Huh? There's another reason I'm going to Asticassia?" You asked your mother as she threw on her mask.

"Elnora's daughter is supposed to attend the academy from what I've heard. This is also an opportunity I can't let slide, but I can't attend the school myself. That's why, Y/N, you have to be there for us. I need you to confirm if Elnora's daughter and her Gundam are there, and conduct surveillance on them. They're our primary targets at this time." Your mother said as your memory ended there.

"You and Aerial...are my targets..." You said as the reveal of Aerial and its capabilities confirmed the second reason that sent you to Asticassia, and you were scared now of what to do next of your friendship with Suletta, as this dramatic duel came to a shocking end.
