Chapter 2: Asticassia

A.S-(Stella Year) Year 122

A lone ship was floating through the void of space with set coordinates for the higher-education center School of Technology, Asticassia, owned by the Benerit Group. The ship housed a handful of crewmembers who were in charge of transporting a single student to the school for their new term. The crew was also carrying very important cargo that belonged to the student, their mobile suit that would be needed for studies and other activities at the school. While waiting to reach their destination, the new student to Asticassia was spending their time in their mobile suit as their optical sensors were off for privacy and they were checking their phone for all preparations they needed when they arrived at the school.

"Admissions process, check. Uniform, check. School regulations, check. Cockpit regulations, check." The student spoke in a feminine tone as an electrical hum sounded inside the cockpit with a brief flash of blue lights. "Don't worry, Aerial. I did an application for you, too." The girl said with a gentle smile as she seemingly comforted her mobile suit.

Suletta Mercury, a new incoming student to Asticassia who was just transferring from the planet Mercury, where she spent all her life. She wore a bulky yellow space suit while floating around in her cockpit as the empty snack wrappers and other bits of miscellaneous floated around her in a sloppy fashion. While relaxing inside of her mobile suit, which she called Aerial, a voice spoke over the intercom of the ship, catching her attention.

"Arriving at Front Sector 73, Asticassia School of Technology, in five minutes. The ship will now enter a docking course." The voice of one of the pilots said as Suletta pushed herself against the cockpits walls and activated the outer vision sensors of the ship.

Upon accessing the outer view of the ship, Suletta was greeted by the sight of the school that she had been so excited to attend.

"That's the school? Mom, I finally made it!" Suletta said with excitement of finally arriving at the school, but that quickly changed to confusion when she noticed something outside.

Tapping on her phone to use the zoom features of the outer ships cameras, Suletta locked in on something she saw floating outside of the ship and once the view cleared up, she was shocked to see someone floating outside the school in a space suit with no sort of safety harness or anything to return to the school.

"What? No way! You can't!" Suletta yelled in a fumbling manner as she tapped on her phone in a panicked manner to call the bridge.

"This is the bridge." One of the pilots answered.

"They'll die!" Suletta's voice peaked in the microphone and sent an irritating pinging noise into the pilot's ear, making them flinch.

"What?" The pilot asked in confusion as Suletta shared the camera view to them of the person floating around in space.

"S-Someone is...Someone is outside!" Suletta was barely able to get out her sentence in a stuttering tone as the pilots now looked a bit concerned of the situation.

"Rescue team, alert. A person is in need of rescue. Prepare for extravehicular activity." The other pilot announced over the intercom as the ship's alarms began to blare and all hands of the crew got to work.

"Roger!" The crew responded as Suletta threw on her helmet, sat in her seat to link with Aerial, and began grabbing at all her trash she had floating around in her cockpit.

"Are there any signs of collision with debris?" One of the pilots asked for confirmation from the crew.

"If you move forward, you gain two." Suletta muttered into the comms.

"What?" One of the pilots said in confusion of what she was talking about.

"I-I-I-I'll save them!" Suletta said with haste as her mobile suit came online.

Trying to move before any of her suit's harnesses and restraints were detached, Aerial made sparks fly off her restraints as they kept her locked in place, making the ground crew confused on what she was trying to do.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" One of the ground crew members said as Suletta still tried to get out the ship.

"Leave the rescue to us!" Another member said as someone activated the restraint releases on Aerial to let her free so that the inside of the ship wouldn't be damaged.

Taking a step forward, Aerial's foot came down hard on the ground as the force made the ground crew jump back in shock of how close she stepped to them. Walking up to the large hangar bay door, Suletta waited for them to open up as the pilots were just left in awe of her actions.

"Do they intend to leave the ship?" One of the pilots said in confusion.

"Tch! Aghhh! Damn it..." The other pilot groaned in irritation before speaking into Suletta's comms. "Attention mobile suit pilot! We're opening the exit hatch. Stay put until then!" The pilot said as Suletta moved to the opened door.

"I-I-I'm sorry." Suletta said in a stuttered voice.

"If you spot someone in need of rescue, let us know. We'll respond immediately." The pilot scolded her as Suletta activated her thruster sequences.

"Yes, sir." Was all Suletta finished with before she launched off the ship and flew towards the person in distress.

Just as Suletta was leaving, the pilots picked up a laser signal that just appeared on their radar. Looking down they were surprised to see another ship had entered the space, and that another signal was leaving from the newly sighted ship towards the same coordinates Suletta was flying to. After flying closer to the school, Suletta was able to lock on and safely flew closer to the person in distress. The person floating in space who could now see the mobile suit clearly in front of them, suddenly began waving their arms around in a flailing manner. This put Suletta's worry even higher as she thought something was even more wrong.

"Almost out of oxygen. Beginning rescue!" Suletta assumed the worst as she extended Aerial's hands towards the person slowly.

Gently cupping Aerial's hands around the person, Suletta's mobile suit pulled the person closer to the cockpit as Suletta opened up her hatch and got out of her seat to go and grab her. The stranger in peril continued waving their arms and legs around frantically as Suletta grabbed onto them and pulled them inside as the person's back oxygen unit ejected off their back. Floating and hitting the back of her seat, Suletta groaned from being squished against her seat by the person before looking down at them with worry.

"Are...Are you okay? Hello? Can you--GUAAHHAHH!!" Suletta yelled in pain as the stranger raised their head up sharply and smacked it against Suletta's helmet.

"Don't interfere!" A girl's voice spoke in an angered tone, confusing Suletta.

"Excuse me?" Suletta asked as the person opened their helmet's visor to reveal their angry face.

"I'd almost made my escape! Because of you, it's all for nothing! You'll take responsibility for this!" The girl who boarded Suletta's mobile suit said with an angered twitch in her eye said as Suletta didn't know how to respond.

"Sure." Was all Suletta could think to say.

"Attention, Mobile Suit pilot. An incoming signal is approaching you." The comms of Suletta's ship came over as Suletta and the girl looked up in confusion. "The signal is now on top of you." The pilot said as Suletta was surprised by what she saw next.

Floating down in front of her, a pair of white feet belonging to a mobile suit slowly descended in front of her. Suletta and the girl were left speechless as an all white mobile suit had descended down in front of them until Aerial's head was level with their own.

"Another mobile suit?" The girl with white hair said in confusion as the two of them were the first to see this machine.

"Huh?" Suletta muttered when the mobile suit suddenly gave them a thumbs up. "Hm? I-I-Is it...saying 'Good job' to me?" She said in confusion.

Just then, a sudden strange feeling came over Suletta that gave her the chills and made her feel like someone had entered her head. A reaction seemed to also have come onto her mobile suit as the lights in the cockpit briefly flashed as well and Aerial seemed to take a closer look at the mobile suit. The two giant machines seemed to stare at one another for some time before the thrusters of the white mobile suit came on and they sped off away from them. Suletta turned Aerial and the two of them watched as the white mobile suit flew away towards another incoming ship heading for the docking gate.

"Mobile Suit pilot, return to the ship immediately. We'll be docking shortly." Suletta heard from her ship's pilot.

"Ah! R-R-Roger!" Suletta yelped as she frantically grabbed her controls and flew back to her ship with a new passenger.

After 'rescuing', if you could call it that after what the girl said, the damsel in distress, Suletta and the other ship had finally made it to the school as they docked and began to unload their cargo while Suletta changed into her new uniform and waited to board a shuttle with other new students to head to the main grounds of the school. Before she left the docking station, Suletta saw the girl she rescued be escorted by men in black suits, and at the other end of the docks, she saw the white mobile suit being unloaded as the pilot stepped out of the cockpit with their helmet on. She wanted to see who it was that was piloting the ship, but was ushered inside the shuttle as the pilot turned to seemingly look at her before she left the station.

"Hey, boy." The pilot of the white mobile suit heard as he turned his head down to see the woman that called him.

"Let's go." The woman said as the pilot opened his visor to reveal a young teen boy with short (H/C) hair and blue eyes.

"Coming, sis." The pilot said as he floated down to the woman.

"Y/N, when we're here, refer to me with my name." The woman said as the young pilot, revealed to be you, landed gently on the steel ground next to her.

"Right, sorry, Marida." You apologized as she just gave you a small smile and gestured you to a hallway.

"This way." Marida said as she pushed off the floor and floated down the hallway as you followed.

"You could've stayed with Zinnerman and the others on the ship. The staff would have led me to where I needed to go." You said as you began to undo your space suit to show off your uniform.

"Your captain wants to run parameter tests with your mobile suit here, so we've obtained permission to do a mock battle on their dueling grounds. He'll be watching with Darren someplace else. Also, don't change out of that yet, we're going there now." Marida said as you looked surprised.

"Huh? Father's here with my brother?" You asked her.

"Yes, but he'll be leaving to attend to other business with your brother, Darren. We have to make haste with this mock battle, I'll be joining them once we're finished." Marida said as you grew a distraught face.

"Huuuh? Do we have to? I wanna meet everyone and make friends already..." You said as Marida turned herself to float backwards as she stared back at you.

"It's just one mock battle test and then you're on your own to do whatever you wish. Just bear with it." Marida said as she leaned closer to zip your space suit back up and ruffled your head before turning back around.

"Fine...Then who am I battling? One of the students?" You asked her.

"No..." Marida said as she turned to you with a small grin. "I'll be your opponent. One last duel between us before I leave you here." She said as you grew excited.

"Really?! Awesome!" You exclaimed as you jumped towards her with a hug, but she blocked you by stopping you with her hand on your head.

"Please refrain from informal gestures while we're here." Marida said to you.

"Huuuuuuuuh!?" You groaned while trying to hug her, but she kept you at bay with ease while you continued to flail around with her.

Meanwhile, back with Suletta who had just arrived at the mobile suit training grounds of the school, she was basking in how amazing the school looked and how active everyone was with their mobile suits. She stared at the training grounds as its barren terrain stretched far out within the school grounds. While taking in the view of where she would soon be participating in, someone called out to her.

"Ms. Suletta Mercury?" A gentle female voice called out to the Mercurian girl as she turned around in wonder to see a girl with black and blue hair with blue eyes and a touchpad.

"Y-Yes!" Suletta stammered as she turned towards her fully with respect and stood straight with her hands in front of her.

"You're here to observe the drills, right? I'm Nika Nanaura, a second-year student in Mechanics. If you have any questions, just ask." Nika said to her with a gentle and kind tone. as Suletta was extremely nervous.

"Yes, M...Thank y..." Suletta was confused on the best way to respond to Nika was as her brain scrambled before defaulting to a bow as she threw her head down in respect. "Thank y-you verr..." She still didn't manage to say a whole sentence properly as Nika was perplexed by her actions.

"Are you nervous?" Nika asked her.

"I-I've never...been to...a school before." Suletta said with a nervous and scared look on her face.

"It's your first time?" Nika said with surprise before a group of three girls walked up and ushered her to the side as the looked at Suletta.

"Say, is it true you're from Mercury?" One of the girls asked her.

"Do people live there?" One of the other girls asked.

"U-Um..." Suletta slowly sat on her knees as she was unsure what to tell them.

"What's your major?" The last girl asked her in wonder.

"I'm in the Piloting department..." Suletta managed to speak to them in an audible range.

"That makes you one of the elite!" One of them commented on her status.

"What did you transfer here for?" They asked Suletta as she kept her gaze off them.

"My mother...told me to go." Suletta answered as they were perplexed by her.

"Your mother?" One of them said in confusion.

"So did she also tell you to wear that old-fashioned hair band?" The girl in the center said in a teasing manner as her friends giggled.

"Cut it out!" The girl's friend said as Nika didn't seem to approve of their behavior towards Suletta.

"Yes, of course!" Suletta said with an enthusiastic voice, surprising them all.

"Seriously?" One of them said as they were caught off guard by her response, but Suletta's attention was drawn away when she noticed someone coming towards their area.

With the taps of footsteps hitting the floor in a seemingly vexed attitude, Suletta turned to see the white haired girl walking towards their area with her gaze to the floor as she had an upset look on her face. Though when she felt the intense gaze of someone staring at her face, the girl stopped in her tracks and turned her head towards the burning stare she was feeling to look Suletta right in the face, making the Mercurian girl gasp in shock.

"Miorine Rembran. I've heard what happened. Prepare immediately to join the class." An instructor on site spoke up from where he was to her.

"Yes sir." Miorine replied in a monotone voice.

"I-I'll take..." Miorine's attention was drawn to this timid voice as she turned to see Suletta standing next to her with a touchpad hiding her face, making her raise her brow in confusion as she tried to get a good look at her face. "I-I'll help you with your escape! J-J-Just tell me what I should do!" Suletta said as Miorine finally remembered who she was.

"AHH! You're the girl who got in my way!" Miorine exclaimed while pointing her finger at Suletta as whispers of this 'responsibility' was heard among the other students. "Idiot! This isn't the place..." Miorine was cut off when some girls on the side spoke up.

"Responsibility, huh? Why not let her take it? You want to run away, right? To Earth." The girl sat down said as Miorine turned to glare at the girls pestering her.

"Class is in session! No more chatter!" The teacher said as everyone returned to their duties while Suletta peaked around the touchpad to look at Miorine.

"Earth?" Suletta muttered, wondering what they were talking about to Miorine, but something caught the entire area's attention.

Alarms began to blare through the training grounds as everyone who was out in their mobile suits on the field looked to see the scenery around them change to simulate the outside space void. Up on the transparent roof, a banner appeared reading 'Guel Jeturk vs Parker Eastcott', seemingly announcing a duel was occurring at that moment. A hatch on the side of the training grounds opened as a mobile suit was pushed out by a purple machine and the two were locked in battle. Suletta was shocked to see the two machines facing off against one another as the machine fighting the purple mobile suit fired at its enemy, but the purple machine was agile enough to not get hit.

"A red Dilanza. It must be Guel Jeturk." The instructor said with a hint of frustration as a voice spoke over the intercoms of the training grounds.

"Apologies for interrupting your drills. This is an official duel, approved by the Dueling Committee. I, Shaddiq Zenelli, will be the winess. I ask that no one interfere." The voice belonging to this so called 'Shaddiq Zenelli' announced as Suletta was in awe of the duel ahead of her.

"A duel?" Suletta said in confusion as the red Dilanza's lance powered up and clashed against the mobile suit it was fighting.

The red Dilanza began to relentless push back its opponent before entering another blade lock and pushing it towards the spectator zone where all the other students were located. The struggling mobile stumbled back to break free from the lock, but it's weapon was cut away briefly before the Dilanza pierced its head unit, disabling the mobile suit as it continued its push towards the spectator zone, right where Suletta was stood.

"Suletta!" Nika yelled with worry as Suletta was frozen in shock.

"You fool! Do you want to get hit?!" Miorine yelled as she grabbed Suletta and pulled her from the mobile suit's warpath. "Run!" She yelled as the Dilanza struck off the pointed goal on the mobile suit's head as it crashed down on the ground, kicking up a huge cloud of smoke.

The upper ceiling of the school that displayed outer space returned to normal with a bright blue sky image above as the duel was seemingly over in spectacular fashion. Being knocked to the ground from the crash, Miorine and Suletta were catching their breaths as a cocky voice spoke out to the white haired girl.

"Did you see that, Miorine? How Guel Jeturk fights his duels?" A young teen male's voice spoke with a smug tone as they turned to see this Guel person. "Both you and the company will be mine before long." The young man said with a smirk.

"Class is still in session, brother. Leave here immediately." A voice spoke into Guel's communications device, belonging to Guel's brother.

"The bastard down there laughed at me. Calling me a man with a runaway bride." Guel said with spite towards his opponent as Suletta was confused by what was going on.

"Bride?" Suletta asked in wonder as Miorine sat up in anger.

"That jerk." Suletta said with an annoyed tone as she got up and began to walk away.

"Hold it, Miorine! The rules say that when you lose, you apologize like a groveling worm. I want you to see how he does that. Ahahahaha!" Guel laughed in amusement as Miorine paid him no heed and Suletta stared at her in wonder.

"Attention. All students occupying the training grounds are ordered to clear out. A mock battle will ensue shortly. Repeat, all students are ordered to retreat to safe zones and clear way for the mock battle." Someone's voice spoke up from the intercoms as everyone stopped what they were doing in wonder of this mock battle, even Miorine stopped where she was.

"Goodness, just when will they let this class continue?" The instructor on sight groaned in frustration as the ceiling changed back to space once more.

Meanwhile in the Dueling Committee's gathering room, Shaddiq Zenelli watched the screen in wonder as spoke up to a figure lurking in the shadows of the room.

"This isn't usually something we accommodate things for. Especially since one of them isn't a student at this academy." Shaddiq said as the person lurking in the shadows stepped out to reveal themselves.

"Which is why me and our group hope that we can work well together in the future when one of us needs a favor. I'll be sure to express my gratitude to your father once we meet." The person spoke as Shaddiq turned to the mysterious person.

"Neo Zeon Systems...Just what kind of machines do you people make there?" Shaddiq asked as the man in the mask turned to him.

"I must ask for your forgiveness, for that is a trade secret that we cannot just allow anyone to know. Though if our companies continue to benefit from each other in the future, then perhaps later I would allow you to know some of our system information on our machines." The masked man said as he turned his attention back to the screen.

"I see...Well, I suppose we'll just leave it at that. Let's enjoy this mock battle for now." Shaddiq said as two mobile suit containers arrived on site in the middle of the training zone.

The students from the side watched in wonder of what this battle was going to be like, and once the departure containers opened, people were surprised by the machines they saw be unveiled to them. The first machine to step out was a green mobile suit that seemed large and bulky thanks to the four mechanical wings attached to its shoulder units.

"Whoa, that machine is looks tough..." One of the students said as the machine stepped out from the shipping container and onto the field.

"I wonder what the other mobile suit looks like." Someone said as everyone's gaze turned towards the other shipping container.

Once a foot came out of the other mobile suit container and the body of the machine came into everyone's vision, Suletta and Miorine were both surprised when they saw the white mobile suit from before, step onto the battlefield as the green mobile suit's opponent.

"NZ-666, code name: Kshatriya." The masked man spoke the name of the green mobile suit as the view changed to the white one. "And the RX-0, code name: Unicorn." He said with a small smile on his face as his mask hid the rest of his expression.

"Interesting. Then, which one has the new student?" Shaddiq asked as the masked man kept his eyes on the screen that displayed the white mobile suit, letting Shaddiq figure out the answer to that question. "I see. Well, let's see what these mobile suits are capable of, shall we?" He said as the rest of the dueling committee were now locked into the battle with all their attention.

You were sat in the Unicorn finishing all battle preparations as you turned your head to see everyone staring at you with awe-struck faces. You felt butterflies in your stomach as your hands grew shaky and your heart rate began to rise. Just as you were beginning to freak out a little, a live feed came up on your HUD and you saw Marida on screen as she sat in Kshatriya.

"Calm down, Y/N. This is just another mock battle between you and me. Don't get cold feet just because a few new people are watching." Marida said as you couldn't stop freaking out.

"Agh!!! You wouldn't get it, Marida! These are the people I'm going to be eating, sleeping, and spending the rest of my days here with! If I don't look cool, people are gonna make fun of me! I'll get expelled, my Unicorn will be taken from me, and mom will freak out!" You spoke in a haste as you held your head through your helmet.

"Y/N!" Marida spoke up as you were startled by her tone, but stopped when you saw her look at you with a gentle smile. "Focus on me. This is just like training back home. It's just you, me, and our machines. Nothing else matters." She said as you were stunned by her attitude before you closed your eyes and took a deep breath, finally calming down.

"Right...Sorry, Marida." You said as you took firm grip of your controls and the Unicorn's engine began to power up.

"Good." Marida said as she sat ready and grew a serious look on her face as she cut the live feed, but still kept comms online with you. "Marida Cruz, Kshatriya. Launching." Marida pushed her controls forward as she activated her thrusters and dashed across the ground towards you.

"Y/N L/N, Unicorn Gun-!" You cut yourself off from what you were about to say before shaking your head and regaining your composure. "Unicorn! Taking off!" Your thrusters roared to life as you dashed across the ground and prepared yourself to make your mark on your first day at Asticassia.
