     A girl should know to be grateful. That's how he felt. Apollo, God of archery and music and son of Zeus loved Persephone with half his heart. He was completely and utterly enamored by her. He courted her and waited on her, then, eventually asked Hera for his blessing to marry her but Persephone rejected him and tore his heart out from his chest.

     Apollo grew cold and bitter after Persephone married Hades, God of the Underworld. His fury turned many to fear him and others to love him for the kind side he wore not often. He saw how Hades dotted on Persephone and worshipped her. Saw how her smile lit up the darkness of the shadows they lived in.

     But, the loyalty didn't last forever. Hades had children whose mothers were not his loving wife's. Selene Lopez was one of those children. The daughter of Hades and Sofia. Her heart was just as stern and mind just as pitiless. She was completely unmoved by the sacrificing of others after the death of her mother. It left her to fend for herself in Camp Half—Blood, where her fellow Demigods lived and trained.

One godly parent and one complete mortal.

     Atlas, son of Apollo, lived amongst the same Demigods she did. He watched her from afar and ignored the pull in his chest that told him to go near her. Selene's face was always stoic and void of emotion but his was always bright with his smile. The dimples in his cheeks were always complemented which constantly left him blushing.

     The Demigod decided after a year of pretending not to notice Selene, he would make friends with her. And he did. It had surprised him, she had willingly given up her space and invited him into the shadows with her. Though instead, the shadows slowly but surely began to fade and the light shined in over.

     For a short while. But, Apollo watched his son and the friendship he made with his enemies daughter for years. And then eventually the friendship blossomed into something more. Apollo couldn't have it, his disgust bubbled in his throat as he roared into the distance. It was the exact rage that had him disowned by his own father.

Cursed child.

     A curse was hatched. It buried itself into the skin of Selene Lopez. Touched her lips. It vowed that if she ever kissed Atlas, he would die a painful death but be reborn without his memories of her and the love they shared for one another.

It was the ultimate revenge.

     That was Apollo's punishment.
