Chapter 4: Family Reunion

Nya's P.O.V.:

I woke up to Kai and and Jay in my room on the bounty hovering over me. I knew I scared them a bit, but I didn't think they would take it that far.

"Nya!" They both yelled coming to me.

"What are you guys doing in my room?" I asked.

"Sorry Nya, we wanted to make sure you were ok." Jay said.

"I'm fine, I just needed a nap." I said sitting up. "What's the plan?"

"Lloyd says we need to go after his father and Misako thinks she knows where he might be." Kai explained.

"We're on our way to Prime Evil's Eye to see if we can find him." Jay said.

"His father? Why do we need him?" I asked.

"The creature that attacked Lloyd was from the realm of madness so we think Garmadon might know about her." Jay said.

"Ok but how does Lloyd feel about all of this?" I asked.

"How do you think? The last time he saw Garmadon he just walked off and left him laying there." Jay said.

"Are we even sure he'll help us?" I asked.

"No idea, but there's one way to find out." Kai said.

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

We were on our way to Prime Evils Eye in search of my father. I hadn't seen him in years and if it wasn't for my mother, I wouldn't have a clue where he was. I wasn't even sure if he would be anywhere in that forest, but unfortunately he was our only chance to find any answers.

I was pacing in my bedroom. I was so nervous about seeing my father for the first time since everything happened. It had been years since he helped us defeat the Oni and I haven't seen or heard from him since.

"Lloyd?" I heard my mother peek into the room. Kira was behind her.

"Oh, hey mom. Hey Kira." I sighed.

"How are you feeling this morning?" Kira asked me.

"I'm doing ok." I said sitting on the bed.

My chest hurt from pacing too much and I held it in pain. Kira noticed and walked over to get a closer look.

"Here, let me see." Kira insisted.

I nodded and took off my shirt so she could get a better look. The scratches on my chest had gotten deeper and were bleeding a little. She took a cloth from the first aid kit and pressed it against my chest. It stung a little but it stopped the pain after a few minutes.

"Lloyd, have you not been resting?" My mother asked me.

"I'm sorry." I frowned. "I'm just so nervous about... you know... and I always pace when I'm nervous."

"Well you really shouldn't be on your feet that much." Kira said still tending to me.

"I know, it's just my mind is all over the place." I frowned. "What if my father doesn't want to see me? I definitely don't want to see him."

"Lloyd, I know this is hard, but the only reason he left us was because he needed to find himself. It's possible he's found it." My mother said.

"I don't care if he has, he'll never make up for what he did to this family, or to me." I stated. "If it wasn't for this stupid curse I wouldn't even be reaching out to him at all!"

I stood up in frustration, but the pain in my chest only got worse. I had to hold it again.

"Lloyd take it easy." Kira said sitting me back on the bed. "Here let me heal you."

Kira took a deep breath and put her hands near my chest. They glowed a light blue and the cuts in my chest slowly started healing themselves. There was still a scar there, but it felt a lot better.

"Better?" Kira asked.

"Better." I nodded. "Thanks Kira."

"Any time." She smiled.

All of a sudden Zane came through the door.

"Lloyd, we are approaching Prime Evils Eye." Zane said.

"I'm going to go check on Nya. Will you be ok?" Kira asked.

All I could do was nod and she left with Zane. I looked at my mother and she could tell from the look in my eyes how nervous I was.

"Oh my gosh, I'm not ready." I frowned.

"It's ok Lloyd." She said. "I know you're not keen on meeting with your father, but just remember even when he was evil, he had a soft spot for you. And if there's even an ounce of goodness left in him, I know he will help us."

"But what if there isn't?" I looked at her.

"Then I'll be there for you and we can find another way, but right now this is our only lead."

"Ok. Thanks Mom." I smiled and hugged her.

She walked me out to the deck and we parked the bounty in Prime Evils Eye. It was a huge forest, so we all split up into groups to make the search easier. Nya went with Kai to search the east corner of the forest, Jay and Cole took the west corner, Zane and Pixal took the south, and Kira and I went to search the northern part, where my mother spotted him.

I knew how uneasy Kira felt around this place. This is the place where her dad got lost and never came back, and her mother never came back from searching for him. I didn't like this place very much either. There were so many memories of me and Harumi here, not necessarily bad memories, but either way they haunted me.

All of a sudden we heard something. We turned around and saw a figure chasing us. Trying to avoid him, Kira looked back and she ran the car into a tree. We were both knocked out.

>>>>>>>•••<<<<<<<

I woke up laying on a log next to a campfire. I sat up and I was in a bit of pain, but it was from the injuries I already had. I looked around for Kira and she was laying on another log next to me. Her head was wrapped in bandages and her arm in a sling. Someone had obviously rescued us and brought us here, but the question was, who?

I tried to get up so I could check on Kira, but I couldn't stand. My chest hurt so much I had to sit back down. I noticed there were bandages around my chest and every other place I was hurt too. But if Kira didn't do that, than who did?

I noticed Kira starting to squirm so I tried to get her attention.

"Kira? Kira?" I called to her.

She slowly opened her eyes. She sat up slowly and held her arm. I hoped she didn't hurt it in the crash.

"Lloyd?" Kira held her head.

"Take it easy Kira, your hurt." I frowned.

"Are you ok though?"

"I'm alright, don't worry about me." I lied. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I think I just sprained my arm and twisted my ankle." She sat up holding her head.

"Do you know who brought us here?"

"No, but I might know where we are." She said.

"Ahh, you two are finally awake." A voice said.

I would know that voice anywhere. But it couldn't be... he would never save our lives like that.

He showed himself holding a jug of water and fish staked on a spear. There he was, four arms and all. I had found what we were looking for...

"Dad?" My eyes widened.

"Hello Lloyd. Strange to be seeing you here." He said.

"Did you pull us out of the car?" Kira asked.

"Yes, and you should be thankful I did because the engine was about to explode." My dad looked at me.

"Lloyd I'm so sorry." Kira looked at me holding my chest. "If I had been paying attention I wouldn't have crashed your car."

"Don't worry about that, I can replace the car, but I can't replace you." I smiled. It made her smile as well.

"Here, you guys must be hungry." My father said.

He heated the fish by the campfire and poured the water into wooden cups. He handed one plate to me and one plate to Kira and gave us cups of water. It didn't look all that appetizing, but I was starving and the way Kira starting eating it, I take it so was she. I decided to eat it anyway, but I was still keeping my guard up, just in case.

"Thank you for the rescue." Kira said.

"Don't be nice to him!" I yelled. "I'm thankful that you saved us, but it doesn't make up for anything. You've been here for years and didn't think to reach out to us?"

"I have sworn off technology. Out here with nature I have rediscovered my roots and remembered who I used to be." He said. "I may not look like it, but I have changed."

"I'm not buying it." I crossed my arms.

"Lloyd, he's trying his best. Plus he did save our lives. The least you can do is give him a chance." Kira said.

"Thank you... umm..." My dad didn't know her name.

"Kira." She smiled.

"Well thanks, but we better be on our way." I tried to stand up but I couldn't. My chest was hurting again.

"That wreck did quite a number on you son." My dad said.

"No, it's not that. I... I was attacked." I coughed.

"By what?" My dad asked.

"By a creature called the lunarfang." Kira said.

"That's impossible, lunarfangs went extinct a long time ago." My dad said.

"Well apparently not all of them." I frowned.

"Lloyd was attacked by one in Hiroshi's Labyrinth." Kira explained. "Luckily I found him before it was too late. I was able to save him with my healing powers, but he's still in a lot of pain."

"The lunarfang is a ruthless creature. They nearly kill their prey and leave them to suffer. If you interfered with her plans, then she will not take that lightly."

"I keep getting all these visions whenever I'm alone." I said. "It's like she's punishing me and they even threatened to come after my friends."

"She is." My dad said. "You are the first person in centuries to survive a lunarfang attack."

"So how do I get her to stop?" I asked.

"That I'm not sure of." My father frowned.

"Are you sure the lunarfang doesn't have any weaknesses?" Kira asked.

"I believe they have one, but I don't remember what it is." He said.

"Then you have to come back with us and help us figure it out." Kira said.

"What? Absolutely not!" I screamed.

"Lloyd, I know how you feel about your father, but no one else in Ninjago has ever heard of the lunarfang. If you want answers, he's our best bet." Kira said.

"Fine." I sighed.

"I like her."

I kept holding my chest as the pain got worse. Kira looked over at me and got up. She was limping a bit and I could tell she was dizzy and her arm was hurting her. She put her hand near my chest and was about to heal me, but I grabbed her wrist and stopped her.

"Lloyd you're hurt, let me heal y-you." Kira coughed.

"Kira no, you need to rest." I said. "I'll be fine, don't worry."

Kira sadly nodded and sat down next to me. I knew all she wanted to do was help me, but I could see it in her eyes that she needed to rest.

"The sun is going down." My father said. "It'll be dark soon."

"We better head back." Kira said.

"How? I can't form my dragon and we can't make it on foot." I frowned.

"We could call our friends." Kira said.

"No we can't, we left our phones in the car." I frowned.

"Then I guess we'll stay here tonight and find a way to get back to them in the morning." Kira frowned.

"They're going to come looking for us when we don't come back and they can't reach us." I said.

"I have an extra tent." My father said.

"We'll take it." Kira said. "Thank you."

We waited by the fire as my dad pitched the extra tent for us. Kira was trying to tighten her sling as it had come loose. She turned the other way and I tightened it up for her.

"Is that better?" I asked.

"Yeah." She nodded. "Thanks."

"Is it bad?" I asked.

"No, I think I just sprained it. I put my arm in front of you so the airbag didn't hurt your chest, but I guess I wasn't quick enough."

"What? That's dangerous Kira, you could've broken it."

"I know, but what's important to me was that you didn't get hurt." She coughed again.

"Ok guys, tents all set." My father said.

"Thank you." Kira said. "Come on Lloyd."

She stood up and helped me into the tent. It was such a quiet setting, just the two of us. It was hard to resist the feelings we had for each other. Kira all of a sudden kissed me on the cheek and I blushed.

"Oh sorry, I don't know why I just did that..." Kira said embarrassed.

"Don't be sorry, that was... nice." I smiled.

We looked into each other's eyes and gave each other a smile. Next thing I knew we were making out. We ended up kissing for about two hours until eventually we fell asleep cuddling next to each other. It was a night I'll never forget.

It was morning and I woke with Kira still next to me. I was surprised I made it through the night without a nightmare or even a thought about that creature. Maybe it was being with Kira that made it all go away, but I was happy I was finally able to get a good nights sleep.

I carefully pried her off of me, made myself decent and walked out of the tent. I saw my dad cooking eggs on the campfire.

"Good morning son. How did you sleep?" He asked.

"For once I slept great." I said sitting next to him.

"Where's your little girlfriend?" He asked.

"She's still asleep, I didn't want to wake her." I said. "Wait, she's not my girlfriend."

"Could've fooled me based on last night."

"Oh, you heard all that?" I blushed and he nodded. "Nothing big happened, it was just one kiss."

"That lasted two hours." He laughed.

"Ok it was more like a make out session but that's all it was, honest."

"Ok whatever you say." He winked at me.

I got a little bit angry, but then Kira came out of the tent. She was still limping a little bit and her sling had come loose again, but she looked  a lot better than yesterday.

"Hey guys. What's up?" Kira asked and sat down with us.

"Hey Kira, are you feeling any better?" I asked.

"After last night, absolutely." She smiled at me. I couldn't help but blush.

My dad gave Kira and I some eggs for breakfast and then he took a walk to the nearby stream to get him some water. All of a sudden we saw a car pull up on the campsite. It didn't look like anything I've seen before, but then my mother got out and ran to me.

"Mom?" I questioned.

"Lloyd!" She yelled scanning me for injuries. "Are you ok? Are you hurt?"

"What? No, I'm fine, just a little roughed up from the car wreck." I said.

"What are you doing here Misako?" Kira asked.

"When you guys didn't come back, I borrowed this vehicle from Nya and went after you two. I found the wreckage and followed a trail of footprints here." She looked around. "Wait, how did you two get this whole camp set up so fast?"

"This was like this when we got here." I said.

"We were rescued by someone and they took us here." Kira said.

"Who did?" My mother looked at me.

"Oh um... it was..."

"Misako?"

"Garmadon?"

My dad had come back from his walk and locked eyes with my mother. I knew this wasn't going to end well if I didn't do something.

"Mom, don't freak out, he saved our lives." I said.

"Come on Lloyd, we're going back to the bounty."

My mother took my wrist and pulled me away from my dad. I pulled my arm back.

"No, he's seen the creature, he can help us." I said.

"It's true Misako." My dad said. "I may not have been there for Lloyd in the past, but I want to be there for him now."

"Just give him a chance Mom, please." I begged her.

My mom took a deep breath. "Fine, if you're willing to help Lloyd I can give him a chance."

"Thanks Mom." I said before I coughed.

I held my chest in pain and had to sit down. Kira checked on me and my parents were pretty concerned. All of a sudden I got dizzy and ended up passing out on the ground.

Kira's P.O.V.:

Lloyd had just passed out from the pain in his chest. Once I removed his shirt to get a closer look, I realized his scar had opened up again and was causing it to bleed. This time the blood wasn't red, it was black. I found it weird, but I couldn't worry about that now, I only had to focus on saving him.

"Will he be ok?" Misako panicked.

"I can save him, but we need to act fast." I said. "Misako, do you have a first aid kit in your car?"

"Yeah." She nodded and ran after it.

I started working on Lloyd. My healing powers didn't work that well because I was injured myself, but that wasn't going to stop me from saving him. Despite how much my arm was hurting, I tore off my sling and forced my powers to heal Lloyd and stopped the bleeding.

Misako came back with the first aid kit and I used the bandages from it to wrap his wound. He started breathing again and the bleeding had stopped, but he didn't open his eyes. I was so exhausted I finally had to allow myself to sit down, but as long as he was alive I call it a success. Misako started caring for me.

"No! Stay away! Stay away!" Lloyd yelled in his sleep.

"I think he's having another nightmare." Misako frowned.

"Here, let me." Garmadon came up to Lloyd and looked at him. "Son if you can hear me, you have to be stronger than her."

"Stay away from my friends! Don't touch them!" Lloyd shouted again, still not awake.

"Wait, I got an idea." Misako said.

She grabbed a smelling salt from the first aid kit and placed it underneath Lloyd's nose. Lloyd sprung awake in a panic and caught his breath.

"Lloyd!" Both his parents gave him a hug.

"Are you ok?" I asked.

"The Lunarfang, she said she was going after my friends." Lloyd sat up in pain. "We have to get back, now."

"Woah son, take it easy." Garmadon said.

"Yeah, you need to rest." Misako agreed.

"There's no time to rest. They're in d-danger." He coughed again and held his chest. Then he noticed I was holding my arm. "Kira? You healed me?"

"Of course I did." I nodded. "I... I care about you, you know?"

That made Lloyd smile for a moment. Misako and Garmadon took him us to the car and started driving us back to the bounty. I didn't know what the other ninja we're going to think of him coming back, but I had a feeling they weren't going to like it.
