“I SAW THE interview. You looked absolutely stunning, love.” As usual, her heart fluttered at the sound of his voice. It was like a voice command that controlled her, manipulating her by force and she couldn't deny the feeling that gave her.
“Thanks, Ferg.” she squeaked timidly, looking down as she flattened the small creases on her dress. Sometimes, she just wished she was just horrifying in his eyes so she didn't have to suffer the embarrassment of being complimented.
“Ellen sure didn't go easy on you.” Fergal snickered lowly, which Celine rolled her eyes at before having to swiftly move her phone away from her ear.
A high pitched scream nearly busted her ear drums, “ARE YOU KIDDING? ELLEN PRACTICALLY GRILLED HER!”
She heard a few laughs in the background. He must be with the others. Of coarse he wouldn't watch the show on his own. Celine could almost feel the glare Finn sent to whoever it was who loudly commented as he said, “Thank you for the input, Alexis.”
“She's never easy on anyone, Ferg.” she giggled, shaking her head at their antics. Especially Ellen's because she's quite the trickster herself, “Do you know she spooked the living daylights out of me just before the show? I nearly jumped out if my skin!”
Her skin formed goosebumps when she heard his wonderful laugh. The thought of his smile made her grin and she felt proud of herself for being the reason for his happiness. How could she have been so blessed to meet someone so extraordinary?
A momentary silence passed, Celine became nervous while waiting for his response. “You could've told her the truth, ya know?”
Surprise overwhelmed her as she asked with a shaky breath, “Y-you would've been alright with it?”
They've been under the radiar for so long, and it was a miracle Rami didn't rat them out on social media with the photos he took of their...moment. For that, she was extremely greatful and somewhat offended by the invasion of privacy. Maybe it was time to let people know and finally confirm part of what they've been thinking.
“Only if you are, love.” Fergal responded huskily, sending shivers down her spine. Boy, did she wish she was dating him. The pictures of him that Ellen showed on the screen were still implanted in her mind. She could practically feel his toned arms wrapped around her as they hugged.
Since they weren't official, Celine feared touching him because of how he might react. All she simply wants is to touch those godly abs of his as she enjoys the wonderful taste of his lips on hers. She sighed deeply, trying to clear her mind.
Maybe she should've told the truth. She will have to at some point, but... At what cost? Being hounded by fans and journalists isn't exactly fun. She didn't want to sacrifice her privacy, but the thought of being able to walk freely in public with Fergal Devitt sounded appealing.
And in her train of thought, her eyes caught the sight of a familiar male walking towards Ellen. His brown hair was slicked back as usual and the metalic blue suit he wore shone in the dimmed lights. A gasp got caught in her throat as her eyes widened, “Oh, no...”
“What is it?” she barely heard the Irish man ask and nearly dropped her phone as her hands suddenly became shaky. Celine felt like her lungs lacked oxygen, she slowly backed away from the entrance to the stage, “Love, are you OK?”
Tears gathered around her eyes, but none fell. There was no doubt about it; he was here. She frantically looked around as she realized that Finn– oh, god, no... “F-Fergal, are you still watching the show?”
“Yes, why?” he responds, extremely curious to know why she was so anxious. It worried him greatly and he wished to be with her at the moment. Sometimes, he hated being a wrestler; it limits him from going anywhere he needs to be.
“R-remember when Ellen said they'll be a surprise guest?” Celine asks, her eyes landing on one of the monitors as he was given a warm welcome o the show. She sighed, regretting having to explain this on the phone, but what choice did she have? “Yeah, that just so happens t-to be Joshua Lewis... m-my ex-fiance.”
The Brit held her breath when all she recieved was a silent responce. God, did she hate herself for not telling him this sooner. But they weren't in that stage of their relationship; everything was going so well with them and in the short time they've known each other, they hadn't been able to confide in each other about deep matters.
She was about to ask if he was still there, but he finally answered, “What?”
“Ferg, I swear I didn't know. I just realized this now when I saw him walking past me.” she explained, fearful of what the wrestler might think of the situation. She didn't want him to think that she's... No, he knew her better than that. Celine trusts in that and hopes that Finn would never think badly of her.
“S'fine, love. What are you so worried about? Or does he bother you? Have the two of you talked since...?” he trailed off, not wanting to mention their breakup. Whatever it was that worried her had him on edge. He was sure she got hurt and would love nothing more than to make the man pay for it.
“We didn't exactly end on good terms. He wasn't civil with me the last time I saw him, Ferg, and honestly, his presence bothers me to no end.”
He sighed after a while, transmitting waves of his depression through the phone, “I wish I could do something about that. You're in distress and I'm not even there to help you. Sometimes, I just wish I didn't have to travel so much, love... You mean a whole lot to me and I jus' want nothing more than to spend all the time in the world with you.”
“No, don't– don't beat yourself up. Don't blame yourself, i–it's not your fault.” she shook head head, inhaling deeply to confess what's been on her mind ever since her career kick started. “You mean a whole lot to me too, and... I wish we didn't have to be so far apart.”
Celine could feel her emotions sweeping up and knew better than to fall apart, especially here and now. But a few tears left her eyes and she had to face a wall while looking down so no one would notice.
Not only was it hard being away from Finn, what hurt more was having to see the man who tossed her away like garbage. She could still hear him yelling at her, demanding that she stayed out of his life for good. Then days later, she hears rumors about her being spread like a wildfire, rumors about her that weren't true.
“It's just...scares me that Joshua might say something stupid, especially if it involves me.” she honestly says before straightening up with her head held high to add, “But you know what? I shouldn't be worried. I get jumpy sometimes.”
“Sometimes?” Finn jokingly asked, making her laugh. And just like that, the atmosphere between them shifted. This is why she...felt so strongly about Fergal. He had that ability to lift her spirits with just one word.
“Oh, hush!”
❝In fact, I was just with Celine Bevis right now and she looked great.❞ Ellen flashed a smile at the young male, who sat across from her.
❝She did. I saw her backstage in fact.❞ Joshua says, brows furrowing for a brief moment before he adds, ❝She was talking to Finn, I think.❞
There were a few murmurs within the audience, which had Celine worried as she watched backstage. She slowly paced in front of one of the monitors, looking on with her arms crossed. Her heart raced in anticipation; Joshua mentioning her and Finn raised alarms in her head.
Meanwhile, Finn stared at his TV with a stoic expression, unsure on how to feel about any of this. The only emotion he was sure of was the sadness of not being with Celine.
But as he observed Josua, he could see something hidden behind that smile of his. A hidden motive behind his sudden appearance on the show. Celine didn't know about it and she was frantic about that, why? What could he possibly say about her that would affect their relationship?
❝Oh, she was?! She said she isn't dating him.❞ Surprise was evident on Ellen's face as she stated. Joshua merely snickered, causing the Irish man to furrow his brows in confusion and slight annoyance.
❝She's not. In fact, I'm one hundred percent that they're just friends.❞ Finn had to swallow the bile rising up his throat when the male Brit blatantly stated with such arrogance and certainty in his voice. How would he know? How could he be so sure?
Yes, he and Celine weren't an official couple. But they were a lot more than just friends. They held hands, they talked more than normal friends would. They watched movies together and cuddled in warm blankets. They didn't need to be labelled a couple to do all those things.
Hell, what they feel for each other is a lot stronger. Finn hated being away from her and she just confessed to him that the feeling is mutual, so...
Who the hell was Joshua Lewis to declare what their relationship was?
❝Oh, no?❞ asked Ellen, extremely curious to know about them. Personally, Ferline is her OTP and she doutbed what Josh said about them. The way Celine's eyes lit up when Finn called her proved that they are more than just friends. ❝And how do you know that, Josh?❞
❝Because...❞ sighed Joshua, leaning back to answer. The next words that came out of his mouth felt like knives, they crushed his heart and he wasn't even sure why he sticker around to watch the rest of the show. Fergal felt his world crumbling and he didn't know what he could do to stop that from happening.
❝Celine and I are back together.❞
HOW COULD YOU DO THAT YOU LITTLE SHIT?!
