"Are you happy now?" Fergal seethed through his teeth as he stormed into Sasha's personal locker room. Hell, Finn didn't even like the fact that she's the current Raw Woman's Champion. His eyes burning with an untamed fury that corroded his heart with guilt and utter pain as he faced the woman who ruined his life. "Is this what you wanted? To see me miserable?!"
The sight of her sickened him. He wanted nothing more than to hurt her for losing Celine, but deep down he knew that he had to take a fair share of the blame. Telling Celine what really went down between him and Mercy should've been the first thing he did. It would've been a bitter pill to swallow, but the sweetest lies seemed like a better option.
As he looked at Mercedes now, who was clad in her ring gear, blue leather strapped around her arms, matching her revealing top and shorts, as well as boots, he felt the guilt overwhelming him. That night was a distant memory coming to haunt him. He once held that body close, begging for a release. The body that belonged to someone else, the body that wasn't his to hold, to use.
Celine doesn't want or need a man who takes what doesn't belong to him. She deserves better... Far, far better.
Mercy tried to speak, "Finn-"
"You are nothing but a selfish little slut." he callously spat, wishing that somehow, his emotions could immediately make her disintegrate into nothing. Fergal was done being nice, he was done holding back the truth from her. Now, he had nothing keeping him grounded, he lost his reason for being a good guy.
"You don't mean that." her voice cracked, she blinked, feeling the tears sprinkle her eyes. Mercy never thought he would snap like this. He wasn't one to say things like this to her, or anyone. Her fists clenched as she stepped forward, "I don't deserve to be treated like this-"
Fergal suddenly chuckled darkly, cutting her off with such malice. Of coarse she would say something like this. She never took responsibility for her actions. She never wanted to accept the consequences of her mistakes.
Mercedes was nothing like Celine. She was vicious, cruel and downright manipulative. Whatever it is that gave her the right to think it was OK to hurt other people the way she hurt Celine was the reason he could never love her.
He turned to her, giving her a mocking grin as he towered over her frame, "Oh, you want to talk about what you don't deserve?"
"Yeah, let's talk about that." she immediately shot back, anger flooding her veins like venom. "I don't deserve to have you talk shit about me when all I've done is pour my heart and soul out to you. I don't deserve this treatment, especially after I've given myself to you!"
At first, Finn was taken aback. Her couldn't believe that she couldn't even admit that she needed to feel even the slightest bit of pain for all of this. He scowled, taking a step forward. "What you don't deserve is a man who is willing to lay down his life for you. What you don't deserve is to have a wedding ring on your finger. What you don't deserve, Mercy, is happiness."
His words cut deep. They hurt more than they should have. And quite frankly, Fergal wasn't sure if he was saying that to her or to himself.
But he planned on reminding her of that. Of the kind of person she really is. As long as he was around her, he wasn't going to let her be truly happy. If she couldn't let him be when he found his joy in Celine, then he was going to make sure that she wasn't going to be happy with anyone.
This woman didn't deserve even the slightest bit of happiness in her life. Not after taking away his. Not after taking away Celine's. It just wasn't right. "Just like Celine didn't deserve to get her heart crushed."
"Don't you think I'm hurt too?!" Mercedes yelled, pushing him back, tears clouding her eyes, "How do you think I felt when I woke up that day after we slept together and you weren't there?!"
"You took advantage of the fact that I was grieving for what I lost and I was intoxicated. You had that comin'." he spat, never holding back his harshness. He wanted her to feel more pain that he felt, but he doubted that was possible. There was nothing worse than watching the woman you love in pain because of you.
Finn deeply inhaled, running a hand through his dark hair. He was tired of it all. The lies, the tears, the heartbreak, it was all catching up to him and it was finally wearing him down. But all he wanted to do was take away Celine's pain. If it were possible, he would absorb all the agony she's been put through because of him. She didn't deserve any of it.
"I know that is no excuse for sleeping with a married woman, but don't you dare forget that you were at fault too." his voice was heavy with regret for the both of them. And when he looked at her, he swore he could hear both of their hearts breaking into millions of little pieces. "I love Celine with all my heart, Mercedes. Nothing will change that."
Not moments later, Finn backed away from her when the tears began to flow from her eyes. He's faced one too many women with broken hearts. Against his better judgement, he actually felt bad for Mercedes. After all, she was once his friend. Even after what she did to him, to Celine, she had once been a good person.
But despite all that, it doesn't change anything. He lost Celine. For good this time. She's not coming back no matter what he might think. There's no room for optimism. Everything he's worked so hard for this relationship to survive went down the drain all because of one drunken night.
As he walked towards his hotel room, the one he shared -or used to share- with the love of his life, he remembered a time when things used to be so easy. So filled with wonderful smiles and laughs. He remembered the day he spent at the beach with Celine.
"Ferg, put me down or you'll break both our necks."
She squeals joyfully as his strong arms brought her down to earth. Her melodious laughter echoed to the depths of his heart and soul just as her feet touched the warm sand and his stature towered over hers. He pecked her lips, tilting her head as his hand held hers,"You're afraid of heights, aren't ya?"
"I am not, you wanker!" She scrunched her nose, playfully swatting his shoulder. Only for him to grab her by the waist and swung her around. "Ah!"
"You're an idiot, Devitt!" she screamed over the crashing waves of salt water, laughing afterwards as she brushed the wet strand of her hair away from her face.
"But you adore me anyway." he added, quickly pecking her cheek before taking the time to stare at her with such love and adoration. There was not a single doubt in his mind that someday soon this woman would become his wife.
She placed her hands around his neck, "What?"
He smiled and placed a chaste kiss on her forehead while wrapping his arms around her waist. There was no one else he'd rather be with. Deep down, he know that this is gonna be forever and nothing and no one will ever come between them no matter what.
As he looked into her eyes, he said the one thing that's been ringing in his mind since the first day he laid eyes on her, "I've just realized that I'm falling in love with you and I never want to stop."
But alas, all dreams must come to an end. Tears streaked down his cheeks as he sat down on the couch. With his elbows on his knees, he silently sobbed to himself with his hands in his hair. The room was far too quiet. There was no more life. It was all gone. Ripped away.
"God, what the hell have I done?"
