Chapter 12
Cisco was having a normal day.
He and Caitlin were soaking in an afterglow together, just sitting on the bed.
After a while, they decided to watch a few movies. Soon, it turned to a competition between Gossip Girl and Once Upon a Time. Somehow, they managed to bring up the topic in Sausage Party. Neither could tell you how.
It turned into a show marathon, and by the end, both could agree that Once Upon a Time was better. Caitlin even got Cisco hooked. They were only on episode five, deciding to try Gossip Girl when Barry called.
"Cisco?"
"Barry?"
"Yeah, we have a metahuman. Yeah, it's a kid."
That was a new one. Unsurprisingly, Caitlin was listening in, a scowl tainting her features. Cisco could see some whiteness in her hair, something that wasn't good. He tried to give a signal, and while she didn't seem to care, she remained Caitlin.
"I'll be there in less than half an hour. I need to pack. Speaking of which, can I bring Caitlin?"
Said person growled like a caged animal. She visibly forced KF back, and when her eyes locked with Cisco's, she laughed. Cisco realized he had been tricked. Now he knew how it felt.
"Could you? We could definitely use her."
Cisco nodded, totally (not) aware Barry couldn't see him. Caitlin snickered quietly beside him.
"See ya, Barry." He hung up before either could say another word. Caitlin couldn't seem to stop laughing beside him.
"Shut up," Cisco muttered. Caitlin just laughed harder. "Make me," she gasped.
Cisco growled, turning on her. They were on his blue couch, snuggling as they watched Netflix. They had a soft, pink blanket over both of them. When he grabbed her chin roughly and forced her face toward his, they both knew what was going to happen.
Cisco was only rough for one reason.
He pressed his lips, and it was passionate. It wasn't long before one of them was moaning, though neither were concerned with finding the culprit. Cisco pressed harder, sending them both down onto the couch, him on top.
Suddenly, cold lips replaced the warm ones. Cisco knew Killer Frost had taken over. During their first time, they had realized she also came out when Caitlin was excited.
But he had also learned to love both of them. Caitlin would likely be back before they were done, but that didn't mean he'd hold out on Killer Frost.
"I'll take over," KF whispered against his lips, her cold breath making its way into his mouth as he opened it to protest. To shut him up, or because it was her plan all along, KF moved her tongue into his mouth. He moaned, pressing himself closer to her, but she somehow flipped them, her on top.
"Now, before we go, any requests?"
"Have your wicked way," Cisco smirked.
...
Len was hurt.
He knew he shouldn't be, especially since he didn't even know the girl, but he was hoping that little girl (Carmen, he supposed) trusted him. As a child, Len hadn't wanted children. He was too worried he'd be like his father, too worried he'd have a bad partner.
Soon he realized the problem was that he might not have a partner at all. He was surprisingly okay with that.
Like any child, he dreamed of true love, but he never thought he'd find it, let alone with a literal superhero. Yet here he was.
The kid had run off, and Len could sense something was up. So he tailed her and was shocked to see her collapse pretty close by.
"No... Carmen, please... he's not safe..."
So... had Len been right? He had guess some personality disorder, but it didn't seem like it.
Then he heard another voice. Carmen's voice.
"He's safe. You need more trust, Alex. He's right there, and he's not attacking us. Granted, it's creepy to have a stalker, but still."
Len froze, too shocked to move.
Alex turned, anger clouding its face. Len couldn't think of it as a person. Not yet.
"You!" it snarled. Alex stood up and ran over to him before falling again, clutching her head.
"Carmen... please. Please!" She was sobbing now, Len could see her tears glisten through a hole in the wall. The room was almost completely dark except through the doorway. It made sense how easily Carmen had been able to see him. His shadow was all over the room.
But there was another one.
Len turned on his heel, fists raised, ready to punch until he saw Lisa.
He didn't dare say her name, draw attention to her, but it was too late. Alex had seen her.
It hissed, immediately pressing itself against a wall. Carmen didn't try to stop that.
"It's okay. It's my sister," Len explained calmly. Lisa raised her eyebrow at him but didn't dare speak until Alex calmed down.
Alex hissed again, dropping to the floor. Len couldn't help but be drawn toward her. He placed a hand on her shoulder, and like before, it flinched, but Len didn't pull away.
"It's okay," Len soothed as she struggled, but he swore it wasn't as hard as before. "I won't hurt you."
Alex looked up at him. "It's not me I'm worried about."
Len cocked his head in confusion before he got it. When he did, he couldn't help but gape.
"You think I'd hurt Carmen!?"
Alex nodded, her eyes cold and distant in hurt. "Yeah, dumbass. She's got us in trouble before with that stupid trusting attitude."
Len sighed. This... thing was more like him than anything else he'd ever encountered. Hell, she even had an abusive brother.
"Kid, she's safe, alright?"
Alex glared at him, anger shown in the tension. The static in the air didn't seem to be getting better.
Suddenly, Barry zipped in. "Cisco should be he-"
He stopped mid-sentence, noting Alex. Apparently, he didn't notice Lisa, because when she walked out of the shadows, he jumped and pressed a hand over his racing heart.
"I know who Cisco is," Alex muttered. It was like they forgot she was a mind reader.
Barry blushed and looked at his feet as Len chuckled. Lisa downright laughed.
Len had a feeling the two girls would become close friends. He was scared for that day.
"I won't let him hurt her," Lisa promised. She walked closer to Alex, but it didn't flinch away. Instead, Alex walked closer and hugged her.
"Thank you," she whispered. "Thank you."
As if perfectly timed, Cisco and Caitlin walked in, the latter looking like she was going to collapse. Guess they'd had enough time for a quickie. Barry chuckled. When Caitlin realized they'd been busted, she blushed. Cisco did, too.
Alex moaned lewdly. Lisa stepped back and glanced at her. She was smirking with her eyes closed. Her hips were moving, and Barry realized she was reading Cisco's mind.
He laughed. "Cisco, she can read minds!"
Cisco stared at her, gobsmacked. Alex opened her eyes and smirked.
"You didn't think I was serious, did you? I was mocking Cisco."
Everyone except Len, Alex, and Lisa was blushing at this point, the latter of which was laughing.
"Anyway... why am I here?" Cisco asked.
Len sighed. Barry had come up with the idea, but he had felt it was better if he explained.
"When the PA exploded, Alex was created, which you both know. I was thinking, maybe we could make her a different body. We did it with Killer Frost."
When Caitlin had decided to figure out who she was, Cisco had gone up to her and worked with her on making Killer Frost a body she could call her own. Now, it shifted to her needs when she entered it, and a little help from Constantine had been needed, but it proved that this was possible.
Alex stared at him, its face flickering for a moment. Then its hardened expression became soft and it as Carmen there.
"Yes," she whispered softly. "I would love that."
Cisco stared between Carmen and Len, surprise clouding his features. "Did I miss something?"
Len, Barry, and Carmen shared a look, the latter of which finally decided to explain Alex to both newcomers.
When she finished, over half an hour had passed and JJ and Lily had ventured in. They were nodding alone, interjecting their own versions every once in a while.
Soon, they had a plan.
Cisco's idea was to use another Quantum Splicer. They only had one problem: Alex hadn't had a body to start with. How would this work?
But after consulting both girls, it was decided that it was worth the risk. They needed to be apart. They needed to live their own lives.
So, since Constantine was busy, they had to do it on their own.
Soon, both JJ and Lily were dismissed early on for their lack of understanding. Alex/Carmen were forced to stay since it was their bodies being split, but within ten minutes of JJ and Lily's dismissal, both were asleep. Len wondered how they dreamed and how much strain it must have on the body.
After several hours, everyone was ready to call it a night. Caitlin and Cisco heard off with Lisa. Mick was with someone, so his bed was empty. Granted, it was dirty, but they had towels. Lisa said even housekeeping wouldn't touch it.
Meanwhile, Carmen headed off with Barry and Len. They didn't know what the sleeping arrangments would be, though. Barry had made a good point when he'd said that if he slept with Len, then he'd sleep with him. Carmen seemed to trust Len just fine, but Alex also wanted to murder him, so that seemed like a bad idea.
After a while, they decided it would be Barry on the bottom, the others on the top. Alex wasn't happy.
Barry fell asleep first, Alex not long behind. Len, after a restless hour, fell into a light sleep that didn't last long.
He felt some squirming beside him and sighed, blinking his eyes blinking against the darkness. Alex or Carmen, Len didn't know how that worked, was moaning almost silently, tears running down her cheeks.
"Jake... Jake, please..."
Jake was its brother. It's abusive brother.
Len knew what it was like to wake up from those dreams. You didn't want someone touching you. Luckily for them both, Barry was a heavy sleeper.
He started with whispering, slowly moving up in pitch until its eyes blinked against the dark.
"Jake," she said hollowly. She glanced over at Len, flinched, and looked away. "Go back to bed. I'm fine."
That's what they all said, wasn't it? At some point, every kid could convince themselves they were okay, they didn't need help. Alex just needed it more than most. Like Len, it had a sister to take care of.
"No, you're not," Len said. "Don't lie."
"What do you know?" Alex growled. "It's not like the one person you cared about beat the shit out of you daily. I had no one, and I still don't."
Len would admit she had a point about both.
"I was abused, too. My dad, actually."
"What? Am I supposed to care?" Alex spat, its anger taking over. Len knew it was better than numbness, better than the hurt, better than the pain.
Len bit back the laugh bubbling at his throat and looked her in the eyes.
"No. You're not. I'm just saying, I know when you're lying. I don't like lying." He let a little threat slip into his words, but Alex reacted as he expected. It snarled.
"Shut your mouth," she growled and curled into her side, away from his prying eyes. Len knew she was too scared to go to sleep, though. So he sat as a silent comfort throughout the night until he was sure she was asleep, and even though he wouldn't get thanked, he knew he was helpful.
