Chapter 2: The Unlocking of the Crowned Jewels

Hey everyone! Okay, recap from the last chapter. So, the "master" was introduced, or he could be the villain as well ;) But, we know that Adrien has a disease, and that's about it-

Aha, in this chapter things begin to get more interesting. I would explain, but you just have to read and find out! Also, at the end of the chapter, you'll see some very special art done by a very talented person ;3 But you'll have to wait until then! Or, you could just scroll down-

Welp, without further ado, enjoy!

"Get him!" a guardsman shouted, three of them pouncing onto an intruder. The intruder breathed heavily, rushing out of the broken window frame. He punched one of the guardsmen in the face; immediately getting choked by another.

He kicked him with his heel, turned around, and punched him in his nose. He blew on his bruised fist, then rushing to grab the small shimmering jewel from the golden crown. Another guard whipped out his sword, the intruder grinning devilishly.

He dodged a thrust and punched the guard in the face, quickly kicking the sword out of his grip as it spun onto the floor. He then grabbed his body, thrusting the guard's head into the stone holder. The stone crumbled as the intruder sucked in a breath, the last man hitting the floor.

He noticed the splatter of the guardsmen's blood, quickly dusting off his black padded unitary before jumping out the window once more. As soon as the third back-up had arrived, the intruder had fled the scene with the purple crowned jewel.

Hugo rubbed a pair of pebbles between his fingers. "How did they get away?" he sighed, "How!?" "It seems that the security in place was not enough," the head guardsman sighed. "Though, it appears they were only after the one jewel."

"One jewel could sell for thousands," he shot back strictly, "What would have happened if he had come here for all of them?" "There will be a different outcome for the next time," -his brows furrowed- "We will make sure of that."

"You better," Hugo mumbled. After releasing a deep sigh, he noticed the rushed breathing from the guardsmen echoing through the crumbling walls. "My prince," -they sucked in a breath- "There is an emergency."

"Another one?" -he raised an eyebrow- "How much could go wrong in the span of a couple of hours?" "The kingdom is under attack," he breathed.

"What!?" The prince rushed down to the stairs straightening his suit. "Where, and is my father dealing with the matter?" "It's much different than a usual attack, my lord." He stopped, "Care to explain further?"

"W-Well, it seems some sort of," -he paused- "S-Some sort of monster is attacking." "Are you joking with me?" the prince scoffed, "This is no joking matter."

"I am not," the guard's voice echoed as he ran up to his father. "Dad, what is going on!?" Hugo glanced to the right at his sister's chiming voice. "Mom!? Dad!?" Louis screamed; Hugo running over to his parents.

"What is going on!?" Hugo asked hurriedly. His mother looked close to tears, "S-Some sort of monster is attacking!" the prince's eyes widened. "Father," "It seems the red and black jewels were also stolen from the crown."

"No, they were not," -Adrien sighed- "I have the black jewel - your grandfather had given it to me when I was a boy." "Oh," he muttered. Adrien reached into his breast pocket and pulled out the black jewel, dangling on a silver chain.

"You know, it says that worthy person would be able to reach the full potential of the crown jewels," -he dropped it into Hugo's grip- "Maybe you should try it?" Hugo sighed deeply, stuffing the jewel into his pocket, "I'm just going to return it to the crown, I suppose."

"Okay!" -Adrien boomed- "All of you go to your rooms!" Hugo's eyes widened, "Father, I am going to help-" "NOW!" Adrien intruded, "I'm not letting any of you get hurt. Now go." he screamed, Emma holding Louis' hand while Hugo held the door open for both of them.

Marinette had never had her crown jewel with her as Adrien did, but the prince couldn't focus on this. Hugo led Emma and Louis into her room. "You both stay together, you hear me?" Hugo pointed sternly. "Dad told us that we all have to got to our rooms," she protested. "Even though we all want to help," she added with a mumble.

"You are not the heir, are you?" -he sighed in frustration- "I'm handling this. I'm going right now to get all the staff quickly out of the building." "You both are to stay here until ordered to get out."

"Hugo, you aren't Dad." -she glared at him- "You can't act like an adult when you barely know what you're doing yourself!" "And what do you think Dad will say when he sees you running around trying to be a superhero-ey?" Louis piped up.

Hugo's brows furrowed, "I may not be your parent, but if I don't help, we are not going to have any parents left." Emma looked down at Louis, Hugo sighing deeply. Hugo kissed Emma on the forehead, "I'm leaving," he paused at the door frame, "stay safe."

He quickly rushed down the stairs, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He felt the cool silver chain, quickly pulling it out, heading to the other half of the palace to return them. Although, possibly it was safer to not place the jewel with the rest in the shattered room. The jewel started shaking rapidly in his hand as he quickly opened his palm.

"What the-" the flash of green and black pushed him into the wall, a silver ring appearing where the black jewel was before.

The black-thing with cat ears stretched its arms, not noticing the prince's shocked features. "Hello-" "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!?"

The prince quickly got up, the silver ring still grasped in his hands. "AND W-WHERE IS THE CROWNED JEWEL!?" The black-thing sighed, swarming around him. "I am the crowned jewel, idiot."

"Are you real? Is this real?" -he rubbed his temples- "Why is this happening to me." He noticed the silver ring in his palm, glancing back up at the black-thing sitting on his head. "EXCUSE ME!?" he swatted the black-thing off, it snickering loudly.

"No one can see this," he mumbled, grabbing the black-thing, and running into the nearest room. "I would like the crowned jewel back, not this silver ring." the prince muttered, clenching his fist.

"Well, put on the ring Mr. Formal, and we can get somewhere." Hugo slipped on the ring, holding his hand up to the black-thing to show him. "Okay, good." -the black-thing sighed- "Without that, I won't have enough power to stay visible."

Hugo pulled the ring to the edge of his finger, the black-thing giving him a look. "Great," -the prince muttered- "Now explain everything or the ring gets destroyed."

"That's impossible," it snickered, "but whatever you say, kid." "I'm waiting," the prince muttered, the echoes of screaming palace workers flooding his ears through the walls. "I'm a kwami, and my name is Plagg."

"This ring is used for the greater good and is unlocked by a grandmaster, who is taught how to use the spell to unlock the jewels." "I unlocked myself, and since you were the first person to grab the ring, here we are."

"The jewel originally was gifted to my father," he paused, "why did he not get it?" "Your father is too old for this responsibility," -he swarmed around the prince- "But you, you! You are so young - and have enough life in front of your to ruin!"

"So, this is a life-ruining thing," Hugo sighed, "how charming." "You have a signature power of something called the 'Cataclysm'" -he paused- "You can use it to destroy anything you can touch."

"Can I use it to kill you?" "Well, no," -he cackled- "I will be in your ring the entire time! I am the one who gives you these powers, you know," Hugo's brows furrowed at the destruction of kwami's maniacal laughing.

Hugo slid the ring back down onto his finger, settling it in a comfortable position. "Is all of this related to the monster attacking the kingdom?" "Yes," -Plagg sighed- "I believe that this is the work of the purple miraculous."

"Miraculous?" "Or crown jewel, or whatever your humans call them." Hugo rolled his eyes, "I thought these jewels were for the greater good? Can't only the master open them?"

"Well, technically yes," "But, other people can use dark magic as well to force the kwamis from their respected jewel," -he paused- "Or it could be people who were trained to be masters of the miraculous, but went rogue."

Hugo thought back to the man who he arrested for requesting the crown jewels. "But, you will be doing this with a partner - the owner of the Ladybug miraculous." Hugo raised an eyebrow as Plagg sighed. "The red crown jewel," he muttered impatiently.

"Do I need to do any training-" "NO! Just say Plagg, claws out! You're more boring than the master himself." "Claws out?"

The black magic swirled around the prince, Plagg cackling at his panicked rambling.

***

Emma shivered slightly, the palace shaking. Louis was quietly practicing his fencing techniques in the corner, Emma pacing around nervously. "I should go out there - I shouldn't go out there - but I mean I should - should not!"

She groaned, then grabbing the door handle and rushing out of the room. The palace shifted - Emma grabbing onto the railing to prevent her from falling. "Emma-" "Louis, don't worry, I'll be back," she breathed, running down the hall when the shaking halted for a moment.

She quickly dashed into another room, sucking in a deep breath. She saw a red jewel resting on the maid's, Angela's, bed, and she glanced down at it. "Is this the red-crowned jewel?" she picked it up in her cupped hands, a red flash and white gleaming specks blinding her.

She fell onto the floor, shielding her eyes as the light began to fade, revealing a red-creature. "H-HOLY CRAP!" she stammered, skidding her heels on the floor. "Don't be scared! I won't hurt you," the red thing's happy tone caused her to relax a little.

"Hmm," -the red-thing paused- "I thought master had said I was meeting someone with light brown hair, and green eyes..." "Anyway, my name is Tikki! It is a pleasure to meet you!" Tikki smiled widely, Emma's eyes were still frozen with shock.

"I-I-" "Don't be scared!" Tikki reminded her, "I'm only here to give you your powers." "M-My powers? What?" Emma asked, grasping onto her dress.

"You were chosen to be a superhero! I'm here to give you your powers, and you will use them for the greater good," Tikki chimed, Emma's eyes lighting up. "Really! That's so cool," her tone changed from frightened to excited in a mere second.

Tikki giggled, "I will explain everything, but-" "How do I transform? Or do I have to change? Oooh, just tell me!" Emma squealed, practically jumping. "Well, the transformation words are spots on-" "Got it!"

"Wait! I'm not done-" "Tikki," -Emma smiled- "Spots on!"

Tikki disappeared into her studs, the red ladybug pattern glimmering onto the surface. Her dress was surrounded by red light, Emma lifting her hands to touch her mask. A red body-suit was now in place of her usual formal wear, her hair tied up into two pigtails, each tied with a black-red faded ribbon.

"Wow," -she breathed- "I'm a superhero!" She rushed to the mirror, then walking back to the middle of the room. "If I'm a superhero, I need a name," -she ignored the screams from outside the palace- "Red-bug? Scarlet bug? Red Lady?" She laughed at the last one.

"Hmm... I like Scarlet Bug," she spun around, tightening both of her pigtails. She opened the window, finally noticing the red yo-yo hanging on her waist. She thrust the yo-yo, the length making her eyes widen.

"Wow..." she breathed, winding it back into her palm. She glanced up, noticing a black figure landing on the top of the palace. "Mega wow! There's a boy I'm working with!" Scarlet Bug squealed, winding her yo-yo around one of the towers.

She lept out of the window, dangling over the ground; which happened to be more than a mile away. The yo-yo slowly lifted her, Scarlet Bug closing her eyes; finally remembering her mild fear of heights.

She then let the string slip from her fingers, her falling at a rapid speed.

"Holycrapholycrapholycrap," she breathed, winding her yo-yo up again, and thrusting it back until it latched onto one of the towers. "Phew," she muttered under her breath as she stopped.

She went up quickly this time, grabbing onto the tower as she climbed to the top of the point. "Haha," she laughed, not noticing the look someone was giving her.

"Hello?" -Scarlet bug whipped her head around at the voice- "I suppose you are the partner my kwami told me about."

"Oh really?" she smiled, "I'm Emma. What about you?"

"I... do not think I'm supposed to know your name," the figure in black froze slightly at this. "Right," -she grabbed her face- "Sorry, I'm Scarlet Bug, and you?"

"I was busy saving some people, I didn't really think of a name yet," he muttered. "Hah, that should've been the first thing you should have done." Scarlet Bug teased him, winding her yo-yo up quickly, and then accidentally hitting him in the head.

"Sorry-" "It's fine." he interrupted with a large sigh. "Though, it is nice to meet you, Miss. Scarlet," -he paused- "And I have determined that I will be known as Monsieur Noir."

Her eyes lit up, "That's super cool!" His eyes directed to the monster, "Yes, but we should probably get going to save the people."

"Right," -she smiled- "Let's go."

Welp, Emma and Hugo now have miraculous! But, Tikki was a bit confused when she saw Emma; do you think she was supposed to get the miraculous in the first place?

This lovely art was drawn by ScribbleKingdom We all did an art competition on discord BUT EVERYONE FRICKING TIED THE VOTE >:0 But, I didn't like mine as much, so I chose hers :3

(If you want to see it I put it at the beginning of the chapter)

Also, I chose Daughter of Evil (music) for this chapter for some reasons :3

Well, because the vocals for the series are Len and Rin (siblings) like Hugo and Emma. Also, Emma kinda is a tad evil. Did you see her just ignoring all of the screams of frightened people? Lol, she's getting some evil vibes XD

But, as always, I hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned ;)!
