Perfect?

~Her POV~
His hair is perfect, his OUTFIT is perfect, his body is in great shape, what more could you do to make him even more perfect? Nothing. At least as it appears.

I can't help but stare at this young man. He is sitting on a picnic blanket with his wife and child unable to stop smiling. A perfect specimen in a perfect situation. I couldn't help but think,
Is his life as perfect as his smile?

We often say, "Don't judge a book by it's cover" about the people who look hard to approach, but do you ever think that about the people who appear to be 'normal' or happy?

As he smiled and laughed for what seemed to be an eternity to me, I thought of my past memories with him.

Do you remember me? What it felt like to be in each others arms? I miss you. I wish I didn't leave you.

His beautiful face turned in my direction and my heart stopped. My eyes filled with love and guilt, while his were filled with sorrow and regret. I scrambled to get my things and ran away with tears emerging from my eyes. I didn't even look back.
~His POV~
I looked at my best friend and her child as I laughed and smiled with a gleam of true happiness almost surfacing. Right before it did, I turned my head and the gleam faded as I looked into the eyes of the one I truly loved. Or used to love. But yet..still do.
She sat there for a second, just staring with a look of guilt. She looked just as gorgeous as the day she left me.

I miss you-

Before I could even finish my thought, she jumped up and left. Again. I was so close to running back to her. So very close. But because of the pain she caused me, I didn't move.

To a stranger, she might look perfect, but they don't know her past, and they don't know what she's been through.
Not only have I seen past the cover of her book, I'm written in the pages.
