Chapter 5

Storm locked herself in her room again after calming herself down, just wanting to be alone. She knew that they were gonna ask more questions once she was calmed down, so she told them she just wanted to be alone and immediately locked the door to her room after kicking them all out.

Everyone else decided to respect her decision and her privacy.

Bryan was reading the letter Storm had been left at an orphanage with, a letter from her dad, who promised her that he would come back for her. She had dropped it on her way to her room upon returning from their supply run, and he got too curious about it, curious enough to be nosy about it and read it without permission.

"To whoever finds this,

Please watch over Skylar and keep her safe. Keep her out of harm's way until I return for her, and I will return for her once it's safe.

Skylar, if you are reading this, please keep this letter safe and in mind whenever you want to know if someone out there is coming for you, because as soon as I can, I am.

-D"

Bryan's eyes widened as he realized why Dr. Embers had called her Skylar instead of Storm. She was trying to hide from him, so she changed her name to Storm, or just started calling herself that.

Who knew what else she changed to try and hide from him. He went to pocket the letter, but Davis ripped it out of his hands after recognizing the paper it was on, and boy, was Davis pissed.

"DID YOU REALLY JUST READ STORM'S LETTER!?" He shouted, and everyone in the room with them jumped before looking at the two. Even Xisuma and Evil X looked shocked by the sudden shouting.

"WELL, I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HELP FILL IN THE BLANKS THAT SHE REFUSES TO FILL, DAVIS! LIKE WHY THAT DOCTOR CALLED HER SKYLAR!? DID THAT NOT CONCERN YOU!?" Bryan glared daggers at Davis as he shouted loud enough for all of Alpha Haven to hear, maybe even a few people or Walkers, if there were any around, out in the surrounding area, too. Storm immediately realized what they were shouting about, and she just ran out and grabbed her letter before walking over and slapping the living daylights out of Bryan, causing everyone around them to gasp. "OW! What was that for!?"

"YOU READ MY LETTER!? BRYAN, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" No one in Alpha Haven had ever seen Storm that mad before, and it honestly scared them. They all could've sworn that her anger came over everyone in the room in waves.

"I NOTICED THAT SKYLAR WAS ON THE LETTER, I WANTED TO KNOW WHY YOU WERE CALLED SKYLAR, OKAY!? I'M SORRY!"

"THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT, BRYAN, IT DOESN'T EVEN GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO READ MY LETTER!" Storm began to tear up in anger. "HOW COULD YOU!? I TOLD YOU THAT EVEN IF I DROPPED IT, NONE OF YOU WERE ALLOWED TO READ MY LETTER WITHOUT MY OKAY!" Evil X only got a glimpse of the handwriting on the letter, and confusion arose on his face as he decided to ask a question.

"Um... Storm, was it?" As a response, Storm just turned and glared at him. "Can my brother and I compare your letter to our dad's handwriting?" Storm's anger was replaced with slight concern and confusion, but she slowly handed him the letter. Xisuma pulled out a note and the two compared the handwriting to the one from the letter. "... It's... It's a perfect match..."

"... What!?"

"It's a perfect match. Our dad wrote this letter. Why was it in your possession, though?"

"... Um. That's a letter from my dad. I never even got to meet him, I don't know if he ever got to go back to the orphanage to try and bring me back home with him..." Xisuma and Evil X shared a look.

"We have to find him. Fast."

Ben and DOOM both made it past a horde of Walkers without getting scratched or bit, and with each step he took, Ben felt like he was getting closer and closer to finding the love of his life. He promised her that he would protect her, and when they got separated, that promise was thrown out the window and into a battalion of lab workers. He kept a tight grip on the last photograph he had of her, from the day the world turned upside down.

The day he would've proposed if the world hadn't gone to hell. He wanted to spend every second of their lives together, even if neither of them ever made it past the age of 15 because of what that lab did to them both. He suddenly sighed and stopped walking, letting one of his fears out into the world.

"Do you think we'll find them," He started. "As Walkers?"

"As... Walkers." DOOM took a breath and let it out. "If they're anything like me, they can survive this apocalypse and every Walker and Demon and Imp and any other monster that Hell throws at them."

"... What do you mean by Demon and Imp?" Ben became confused by that statement.

"Long story." DOOM clenched his hands into fists at the memory of what Hell and its monsters did to him and his family, forcing him to separate all 3 of his kids from one another, two of them staying on Earth and one of them coming with him into space. "But my point is, no, I don't think they'll be Walkers once we find them."

"I hope you're right, Doom Guy." DOOM chuckled slightly at the use of his name, but it was barely noticeable. "I promised her I'd protect her... Then we got separated... And now I'm just scared that she got bit, or captured by Dr. Embers, or worse, Sam."

"Sam? Why are you scared of this Sam guy?"

"He's just some Australian capitalist who wants to try and force people to keep the world order or pay him in... Diamonds? It's weird, but it's going to his head, and he's just... A tiny bit psycho. Like that Negan guy we had to deal with after you found me, or Merle Dixon."

"... I remember Negan, and now I see why you fear this Sam guy. Negan scared you that bad, huh, kid?" Before Ben could correct him, DOOM continued. "But after years of literally fighting Demons and Imps and Hell itself, that stuff doesn't bother me. I don't see why it should. It's better to stay tough. Don't let people like Sam or Negan scare you, or anything that comes from Hell, for that matter. I don't know anything about this lab you mentioned, but if it's that bad, then you have to face it. You have to tear it to the ground and stop it from ever resurfacing."

"You really have experience, huh?" Ben introjected, but DOOM shushed him.

"What I'm trying to say is, if you're going through hell, keep on going, fight it, and don't let it drag you back down, or you might never get a second chance to get out again." DOOM started walking again, and Ben thought on his advice for a moment, before following him into the city, not even recognizing it as the same city where he and his girlfriend went through hell and back to get out of the lab that left them stuck at 15 for the rest of their lives.
