Chapter 3

Storm didn't know what it was about them, but Evil X and Xisuma both reminded her of herself. Maybe it was the fact that they were also looking for someone that they had lost, or maybe it was something else, but she saw herself in them.

It freaked her out, if she was being completely honest with herself. She just wanted to understand why she saw herself in those two brothers after just meeting them.

"Are you alright, Miss?" Xisuma waved his hand in her face after he noticed her starting to zone out.

"Huh?- OH-" She jumped back slightly once she snapped out of it. "S- Sorry... I was zoning out...

"You've been doing that a lot, Storm." Davis pointed out.

"I just... Have a lot to think about..." Storm looked down at her feet, and she didn't know how to tell Davis, or even Bryan and Kat, about what was happening with Dr. Embers, or about anything that happened to her in her lab. The only thing she ever told them was that she was stuck at the age of 15 because of something that happened on her 15th birthday, she never told them that it was the lab, or told them anything about it in general.

"... Alright, let's just go back to Alpha Haven, we're talking about that doctor when we get back. You two are coming with us." Davis's voice was stern and commanding, and Storm knew not to argue with him, but she sure as hell wasn't telling them about the lab. She just sighed and followed him, Kat, Bryan, Xisuma and Evil X back to Alpha Haven.

Somewhere up north, a man in a spacesuit and a teenage boy were looking around, examining their terrain for any sign of the people they were looking for. The man was looking for his children, and the teenager was looking for his girlfriend, who he had been separated from in a Walker attack at the camp they were staying in to avoid Dr. Embers and his lab cronies. The teenager's face was stoic, but you could still see a hint of worry in his red and green eyes, which gave away how he truly felt, no matter how stoic his face was. You couldn't see the man's face due to the helmet he wore, but based on his body language, you could tell that he just wanted his children to be safe. The teen sighed and broke the silence after a minute.

"Listen, thanks again for helping me back there, Mr., uh, DOOM, was it? But my leg isn't broken anymore, I think I can go off on my own now." DOOM took a glance at the teenager, who looked at him.

"Kid, listen," He started, kneeling down to the teenager's height. "In my line of work, you don't leave anyone hanging in their time of need, or in dangerous, apocalyptic situations. You help as many people as you can, no matter how it turns out in the end." The teenager sighed and looked at the ground.

"It's Ben, I told you that so that you don't have to call me kid anymore."

"Right. Sorry." DOOM pulled out an old photograph of himself and the only child that he got to raise. Ben took a look at the photograph and suddenly noticed that he had seen the exact same shade of blue as the eyes in the photograph once before.

"Wait... His eyes..." Ben suddenly pulled out an old photograph of him and his girlfriend and compared her eyes to the eyes in the photograph that DOOM was holding. "... No fucking way."

"What?" DOOM took a look at the photograph, and he immediately recognized the girl from her eyes and the brown roots in her hair. "... Oh my god..."

"They have the same eyes... Wait... Is... Are we both looking for-"

"We need to find all three of them. Fast." DOOM was currently looking into a face he had only seen once. On the day he had to give her up.

"DAMMIT!" DOOM was trapped behind a car by an orphanage, holding a baby girl in his arms. He had just gotten her to go to sleep, and he was scared he was gonna wake her up, but being in the middle of a demon war on Earth was bound to do that anyway, if it went on long enough. He groaned. "Of course we had to get separated from the rest of the fucking group in the middle of the fucking warzone." DOOM looked at the baby in his arms, her brown hair and pale skin being the only things he could focus on, other than her safety. Her blue eyes were still visible in his mind, and he knew that the best thing for her would be to keep her out of the demon war. "SHIT! I didn't want to do this, but I have no other option." He quickly wrote a note to whoever found her on the steps of the orphanage they were near and gently laid her down with the note in her tiny arms. "I'll be back for you one day, I promise!"

"DOOM, are you coming!?" DOOM snapped out of his flashback and looked at Ben, who had already started to run ahead, before nodding and following him. "Don't worry," Ben mumbled under his breath. "I'll be back with you soon. I promise." The minute the promise left his mouth, he was taken back to the day that he had gotten separated from his camp, and his girlfriend.

"GUYS!" Ben's leg was trapped under a fallen tree, and he couldn't get it off on his own.

"BEN!" A female voice shouted, and the owner of the voice, along with a few others, got the tree off his leg before she helped him up. "Are you alright...!?"

"No, I think my leg's broken, and we're in the middle of a thunderstorm in the zombie apocalypse." A few of the other group members shared a nervous look.

"We can't take him with us, he'll slow us down."

"WHAT!? NO! I'm not leaving him!" The first voice to call out to him broke through the air again before the girl it belonged to hugged him tightly.

"We have to-"

"No, I'm not leaving my boyfriend."

"S-"

"Ben, don't." Ben shut his mouth as soon as she told him to stop talking. "I'm not leaving without you."

"I can't move, how am I supposed to come with you!? They're right, I'll just slow you down, and the Walkers will catch us all if I come along!" Soft sobbing suddenly broke through the air, suggesting that the girl holding him didn't want to believe what she was hearing.

"I- I'm not letting you die- Ben, please...! At least let me get you into an abandoned building nearby, I'll come back for you as soon as I can, I promise...! I'll even make sure the Walkers can't get to you..." The others in the group looked at her, and then grabbed a chain and a padlock.

"Come on, let's get him to safety." Ben wanted to protest, but he knew that it was a lost cause, they had made up their minds. He was brought into a nearby building and his girlfriend gently kissed his cheek.

"I'll be back with you soon. I promise." She whispered before she ran out of the building, which was soon chained and padlocked shut so the Walkers couldn't get to him.

Then, hours later, after the Walkers had finally left the area, DOOM opened the door and got him out of there.

"Did you say something?" DOOM asked, snapping Ben out of his trance.

"No, nothing important." Ben just kept running, looking for any signs of Walkers or the people that they were looking for.

Storm looked up at the gates to Alpha Haven as she, Evil X, Xisuma, Bryan, Kat, and Davis finally reached the old military base turned survivor camp. She took a quick glance at Davis, who gave her a look that said she wasn't getting out of explaining what the hell happened between her and Dr. Embers.

She took a breath and let it out before she spoke.

"Davis, I'm not telling you guys what happened. It's too painful to talk about. Can you please respect that?" She pleaded, and Bryan just gave her a look.

"Too painful to talk about?" He was dumbfounded. "No, you know what? Screw that."

"Bryan-" She started, but Kat cut her off.

"Come on, Bryan, if she doesn't want to talk about it-"

"We have to know the truth, Kat!" Bryan cut Kat off before she could finish, which severely pissed her off.

"Not if it's too painful to talk about!" Davis introjected, and Storm gave him a thankful look.

"WHO'S SIDE ARE YOU ON, DAVIS!?"

"Kat's." Evil X and Xisuma just shared a look before looking at Storm, who was just staring at Bryan in absolute shock.

"Oh, that's rich." Bryan scoffed. "You know that she has to tell us what the hell happened, we deserve to know after watching that shit show." Storm flinched, shocked by the fact that Bryan swore. So was Kat, who gasped audibly. Davis, too, was shocked, but he hid it well.

"She will when she's ready, Bryan. Don't force it on her." Xisuma stated, staring into Bryan's eyes.

"My brother's right." Evil X rested a shoulder on Xisuma's shoulder, glaring daggers at Bryan.

"GUYS, WHAT ARE YOU ALL STILL DOING OUT HERE!? YOU AND THE NEW GUYS. IN. NOW." Everyone flinched at the sound of Fyre shouting at them, before they all just walked in, not looking back to see if anyone else was nearby.
