Chapter 2
Storm started scrambling to try and get out of the net. She was clawing and stretching it and wound up tangling herself up more. She let out a soft whimper as she looked down at Bryan, Cam and Davis, who had fallen into a hole after she got stuck in the net. She wanted to help them, to get them out of that hole, even if it meant that they found out what the lab had done to her.
But she couldn't. Not while she was stuck in a net and soon all she heard was Bryan shouting.
"Storm!?"
"UP HERE!" She shouted, which drew Bryan's attention to the net. "I don't suppose you have an arrow or something that can break the rope on the net!?"
"Shut the FUCK UP, ALL OF YOU." An unfamiliar voice demanded of them, at least, unfamiliar to three of them. Storm recognized this voice the second he spoke, and it struck fear into her heart. No. "OR I'LL KILL THE ONE IN THE NET AND LET THE WALKERS FEED ON THE REST OF YOU."
"D... Dr. Embers...!?" Dr. Embers slowly turned and looked up at her, only to see her wide eyes staring back at her.
"Well, shit, I'll be damned! Looks Like I won't kill her then!" He laughed. "I never thought I'd see you again, Skylar."
"Skylar?-"
"Don't call me that. You either, Bryan. That's not my name, not anymore." The sudden strict, demanding tone in Storm's voice scared both Dr. Embers and Bryan, who stopped mid-question and looked up at her, his eyes wide.
"Yes, it is. Both legally and in our lab work." Storm's face drained slightly at the reference to her time in the lab.
She was just a kid when the lab took her on her way back to the orphanage.
"What lab work!?" Davis glared at Dr. Embers, who just smirked at Storm.
"You never told them? Shame." Storm looked down at her friends, beginning to tear up at all of the painful memories that she had in the lab.
One memory in particular standing out. From her second night in the lab. It was a short one, but it stood out more than any others.
Storm was curled up in her cell in the lab, looking at her naked body. Dr. Embers had just come into her room and stripped her of her clothes, as well as anything she could cover herself with. Those items had been removed after he had forced himself onto her, and he had physically hurt her much more than what he had done to her in those 2 hours he had alone with her. In that moment, she welcomed death. She was willing to die, but she couldn't.
She had nothing, not even any clothes to cover herself with.
She blocked the memories out for that moment so that Bryan and the others didn't see her cry, and her face went from sullen and devastated to stoic, the drastic change shocking Kat the most.
"I had no need to, Doctor." She stated in confidence, her facial expression unmoving. "They never asked me, and I never brought it up."
"Feeling confident, eh? You might want to remember who has who in a net here, Skylar." Storm groaned and checked her pockets for a knife, her expression remaining stoic so that she didn't give away if she had one or not. "Matter of fact..." Storm's stoic expression broke, and in its place, a look of fear began to form. She hated it whenever he said that, as it always meant he was planning something with her.
"W- What are you planning!?" She couldn't even hide the fear in her voice as he pulled out a knife and cut the rope that held the net suspended over the hole. She yelped, but he grabbed it again just as she was dangling right over the hole.
"Oh, I just wanted a better look at my little rope bunny in a net." Storm immediately turned to look at Dr. Embers with a look of disgust plastered on her face.
"I'M 15, YOU ASSHOLE, AND I'M STUCK AT 15 BECAUSE OF YOU!"
"Your age does not matter to me, my little bunny."
"PREDATOR ALERT!" Davis and Bryan immediately started trying to help Kat reach the net, but Dr. Embers pulled it away from the hole and over towards him, yanking Storm out by the arm, harshly.
"OW- HEY!"
"Don't even think about running, bunny." He kept a tight grip on her arm and tilted her head so that her eyes were meeting his. Storm began to tear up. "Don't make me angry."
"LET GO OF HER!"
"No can do, Bryan, was it?" Bryan's fists clenched, and Kat looked like she was about to commit murder. "She's needed back at the lab."
"No- NO, I REFUSE TO GO BACK! I- I'D RATHER GET FUCKING BITTEN THAN EVER HAVE TO GO BACK THERE!"
"Well, too bad that choice isn't yours to make. Boys, take care of the ones in the hole! Leave the bodies to the Walkers." Storm's face went even paler than normal.
"NO!" She kept trying to get out of Dr. Embers's grip, but it was too tight. "GUYS, HELP!"
"Shut up!" Dr. Embers slapped her, hard enough for the sound to be heard for miles. "Just SHUT UP." Storm immediately began sobbing into her hand.
Then, the quiet sounds of crossbows firing drew everyone's attention to newcomers.
"Let the girl go, and we won't kill you like we did with your 'friends.'" Storm's eyes widened as she saw 2 men in similar outfits to each other. Dr. Embers growled and ungripped Storm's arm.
"This isn't the last you'll see of me, bunny!" Storm just fell to her knees and hugged herself as she began to sob, and Dr. Embers got away. The 2 men, brothers, possibly, slowly approached her and gently knelt there in front of her.
"Are you alright?" Storm shook her head, and she took a small peek to see a man with a green spacesuit, kind blue eyes, and a helmet standing in front of her, a man in a red jumpsuit next to him, but he had taken off his helmet off to reveal white hair and red eyes. Storm just looked down at the ground again shortly after, and the red eyed man got her friends out of the hole that Dr. Embers had trapped them in.
"Thank you, but who are you both?" Bryan asked, confused.
"Oh, I'm Evil X, for lack of a better name, and that's my brother, Xisuma. We're looking for our dad, and we figured we'd help you guys out of that pickle while we were looking for him."
