Chapter 10
Storm heard the sound of the lab doors being blown open by some sort of explosion, and she turned her head to see exactly what it was. Everyone else around her turned their heads, as well, and all they saw was an explosion, and 3 figures running out of the lab, one of them being a guy in an astronaut suit similar to Xisuma's, one being passed out in that guy's arms, and one that Storm thought she would never see again.
"BEN!" Storm immediately ran towards him, silently hoping that this was real and not a dream. Amelia ran after her, a bright smile on her face.
"DADDY!" Ben's eyes widened at the sound of their voices, and he stopped in his tracks as soon as he saw them.
"Oh my god..." As soon as those 3 words left Ben's mouth, DOOM noticed his own kids, and they slowly approached him as he stopped in his tracks. Ben's eyes went wide as he saw the two boys approaching DOOM, as well as his Blueberry and Amelia running towards him. Tears of joy formed in his eyes, and he immediately knelt down before pulling Amelia into a tight hug, holding onto her tightly. "Amelia...! Hey, sweetheart!" Storm suddenly joined the hug, and Ben yelped before laughing at her and adding her into the hug properly. "Hi, Blueberry."
"Is this real...!?" Storm looked up at Ben, since he was still taller than her, and he chuckled before gently kissing her forehead, causing her to blush.
"I promise you, babe, this is real," He paused to smile at her before continuing. "I'm not going anywhere. Not again. I promise." Amelia held onto him tightly, and he gently ran his fingers through her hair, letting her know that way that he wasn't gonna let her get separated from him again. Eli just watched all of this play out from the sidelines, watching Jeremy slowly walk over and hug Evil X's leg tightly.
To them, it seemed like Jeremy adopted Evil X as his caretaker. They could understand why it wasn't them, considering that they nearly murdered him, but they were still a little suspicious of the boy.
In that moment, for everyone else around them, none of that mattered. All that mattered was that everyone was okay, and that they were back with their loved ones.
Well, except for Eli and the boy with the blond hair. That's what they assumed, at least.
"Dad?" Xisuma looked into DOOM's mask, not wanting to take off his own. Evil X stood next to him, just staring at DOOM, not knowing what to say. Storm took a peek at them, looking at DOOM, specifically. "Is that... You?" DOOM didn't speak, he didn't know what to say. He just slowly walked over to Eli, handed the boy to them, and walked back over to Xisuma and Evil X, grabbing a hold of their shoulders and looking directly at the two of them.
"What- wHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS GUY!?" Storm gave Eli a glare before watching the family reunion of Xisuma, Evil X, and DOOM. Eli groaned before flicking his nose and forcing his eyes open, looking directly at his sky-blue eyes. "Hello there!" As soon as they let go of his eyes, they closed again, and they groaned again before sitting him against the wall and slapping him.
It woke him up, alright, but it pissed him off.
"OW! Who the fuck slapped me!?" Everyone turned and looked at the boy, who was very pissed off at being slapped. All eyes suddenly turned to Eli, who had a cheeky smile that was slowly turning into a frown.
"Am I in trouble?" Storm facepalmed, Ben looked confused, and DOOM, Xisuma and Evil X just nodded at them.
All of a sudden, a loud SLAP sound was heard as the boy slapped them back, and tears formed in their eyes. Storm gasped and covered her mouth, and Ben immediately stood up before walking over to make sure Eli was alright. Eli suddenly hid behind him, and the blond glared after them.
"WHAT THE FUCK WOULD YOU SLAP ME FOR!?" Both of them suddenly shouted, and Eli sounded like they were gonna cry, but they just looked at the boy, who looked back at them. Ben just frowned at the boy, who looked at everyone around him.
"I just noticed, where the fuck am I?" Storm slowly stood up, grabbing a hold of Amelia's hand as she did so.
"We're in... Um... St. Louis?" The blond looked at Eli, then at Storm, and he decided to move away from Ben and Eli and walk over to Storm and Amelia.
"What is St. Louis?" Storm tilted her head in confusion.
"St. Louis, Missouri? How do you not know what that is?" Ben looked at the two, and he suddenly felt... Weird about seeing her talking to him.
Well, the blond was about 16, and he and Storm were 15, so he didn't know if it was jealousy or something else.
"Um, I'm... Not from around here." As soon as those words left his mouth, Storm noted that he had a German accent, something she hadn't been paying attention to before.
"OH, you're German?" Ben's hands clenched into fists, and he finally pinpointed exactly what he felt. He was jealous.
"Um... Yeah... I'm German..." Storm gave him a small smile, and she held her hand out to him.
"I'm Storm. Nice to meet you, Mr. German Man." The boy hesitated, before he slowly reached out and grabbed her hand, shaking it.
"Suntix." Storm looked over at Ben, who was taking deep breaths. She slowly walked over and rested her head under his chin, holding him tightly.
"Are you okay, Benny boo?" Ben hesitated, before just sighing and holding onto her.
"Yeah, I'm okay, Blueberry." Storm didn't believe him, but for his sake, she acted like she did.
"Okay..." Suntix looked at them, a look of confusion on his face. He didn't understand their interactions, and to be fair, it seemed like he didn't understand human interactions in general.
"Why did you call her Blueberry? She isn't a food." Storm glanced at Suntix, a smile plastered on her face as she giggled, making Ben's heart flutter.
"It's because of my hair. It reminds him of blueberries." Her head went back to resting under Ben's chin, and he wrapped his arms around her, keeping a close eye on Suntix. "He's such a goof."
"But why does he look mad at me?" Ben looked away, and Storm looked up at him.
"Benny boo..." Storm gently moved his head, tilting it so he was looking at her. "What did he do to make you mad...?"
"I... Nothing. I just don't trust him. He came from the lab, he could be working with them, for god's sake..." He wasn't lying, but he also wasn't being honest. He didn't trust Suntix, but not because he came from the lab.
He just didn't want Suntix to steal Storm from him, but he couldn't tell her that.
"... Ben... So did you..." Ben immediately looked at her in shock, having looked away to glance at Suntix again. "I mean, you escaped that lab the same as I did... We only had each other, babe..." Ben felt relieved when he realized that she didn't mean that the lab created him. He sighed softly and held onto her tightly again.
"This is different... We got to talk to each other, Blueberry... We don't know anything about Suntix, we didn't even know he was in the lab until today..." Ben raised a good point, and Storm sighed softly before gently cupping his cheek in her hand.
"Ben... Please... You gotta trust me... I don't know what it is, but I feel like something good will come out of this... Unlike when the lab brainwashed Wilbur..." Ben flinched softly at the memory of Wilbur, his best friend, someone close to him, Tubbo, Storm, and Tommy, betrayed them because of the lab.
Luckily, they managed to get him back, but they nearly died in the process. He still had flashbacks of it to this day, but he never told Storm about them. He didn't want her to worry.
Storm, Ben, and two other boys looked on in horror as their friend, a man who was like a brother to them, just looked at them with a blank expression, a knife in his hands. The brown haired, brown eyed man in a beanie, yellow sweater, black jeans, and grey shoes wore no other expression, just that same blank look he was staring at them all with.
"Wilbur..." One of the blonds spoke, sounding like he was gonna cry as his baby blue eyes began to well up with tears. Wilbur just looked at him with that same blank expression, and the blond looked back as the tears fell from his eyes. "What the fuck did they do to you!?" He shouted, his voice carrying around the entire room. His white Nikes were so close to being stained by tears, but luckily, the tears were landing on the ground next to them, not on them, and his khakis were on his legs, so they couldn't get hit by tears, even if he tried to.
His white and red shirt, on the other hand, wasn't as lucky with avoiding the tears, as they were also trailing down his neck.
"Tommy-" Ben started, but Tommy wasn't having it.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO!?" Storm flinched at the sudden echo of Tommy screaming, begging with just one scream to know what had happened to Wilbur.
Unfortunately, Storm had only one guess as to what they had done to him.
"Tommy, calm down! This is your discs all over again!" The other blond called out, resting his hand on Tommy's shoulder. His eyes were a different shade of blue from Tommy's, almost like a sky blue, maybe even cornflower blue, depending on the lighting you caught them in. He wore a brown and yellow striped shirt underneath a pair of blue overalls, which had a bee on the center pocket. His shoes were also bee themed, his right one having blue eyes and his left one having pink eyes. "We don't want another war on our hands!"
"I think it's too late for that, Tubbo..." Storm whispered, before pointing at the knife in Wilbur's hand. Ben noticed it, and he slowly pulled her behind him, and Tommy clenched his fists. Tubbo's eyes went wide, and he didn't know how to react. Wilbur just kept staring at them with that blank expression, his eyes showing no emotion whatsoever. Wilbur took one step towards them, and they all took one step back.
Then, Wilbur charged at them.
"Ben?" Ben snapped out of it at the sound of Storm calling his name. He looked down at her, and she slowly cupped his cheek in her hand. She gave him a small smile, and Bendy just sighed before giving Suntix a look that told him to back off. Suntix didn't know why Ben was giving him that look, but he didn't bring it up. "Babe... Do you trust me?"
"I trust you," He started. "But if he gives me one reason not to-"
"Guys," Eli called out, and they directed everyone's attention to the lab. "We have company."
"Oh SHIT!" Ben immediately pulled Storm behind him as he and Dr. Embers locked eyes, and everyone else around them hid both Suntix and the kids, leaving Suntix confused on what to do with them this time instead of Eli. Storm stayed hidden behind Ben, tears forming in her eyes as she remembered the last time her and Dr. Embers saw each other.
That net still haunted her dreams. Ben just stared him down, not even saying anything. Eli glitched out, and both X and Evil X drew their guns, aiming them at the lab boys. Storm whined softly, and Dr. Embers and his men just stopped feet away from the group. They had them outnumbered, but they didn't act on that, not yet.
They wanted to savor this moment.
An entire arsenal of personel soon walked out of that lab, and the group finally realized they were outgunned, out-manned, outnumbered, outplanned. The odds were stacked against them, and the lab knew it before they did.
Dr. Embers just wanted to rub it in their face before he dragged them back into the lab.
"Ben! DOOM! ... Others..." Dr. Embers smirked slightly at the sight of them all, the look in their eyes showing them him that they knew they were in trouble. "Why don't we all head back inside?"
"No." All eyes suddenly shifted their gaze, and all they saw was Suntix standing there with Amelia and Jeremy, unsure of what else to do. Dr. Embers chuckled softly before grabbing a syringe and walking over to them. "Back up."
"YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HIDING, YOU IDIOT." Eli shouted, and Dr. Embers just snapped his head in their direction. Eli glitched out again before glaring at him, and Amelia immediately ran past Dr. Embers and into Storm's arms, and Storm held onto her tightly, not wanting to let her go for any reason whatsoever. Jeremy ran over and hugged Evil X's leg tightly, and he had no clue how to respond to the sudden gesture. He and Xisuma kept their guns trained on the lab boys, and DOOM pulled his out, aiming with them.
"Now now, put your guns down. You don't want to attract any Walkers to the only city with no Walkers in it whatsoever, do you?" Storm glanced at Dr. Embers, who still didn't seem to realize that she was there, and she sighed before standing up, still holding onto Amelia, and her voice broke through the air.
"There aren't any Walkers for miles..." Dr. Embers quickly snapped his head towards her, and he smiled widely once he saw her holding onto Amelia.
"Hello, bunny." Storm immediately regretted speaking up in that moment, and she held onto Amelia tightly as Ben clenched his fists. "Who's this?"
"None of your business." Ben wrapped his arms around Storm's waist and pulled her close to him, holding her in a protective stance, and that immediately clued Dr. Embers in on who Amelia was to them. "My blueberry's right though, there's no Walkers for miles."
"Your blueberry?" Dr. Embers just laughed, and he injected Suntix with the sedative in the syringe, knocking him out instantly, before approaching Amelia, Storm and Bendy, that wide smile still stuck on his lips. "She's not your anything, Ben. Hell, if you think this little girl is yours, then I'll gladly prove you wrong." Dr. Embers snatched Amelia from Storm's arms, and she just screamed as she and her momma were separated again.
"NO! G- GIVE ME BACK MY DAUGHTER!" Dr. Embers kept a tight grip on Amelia before taking some of her blood with a clean syringe.
"Let's see who your daddy really is, little one." As soon as he got enough for the test, he put her down, and she immediately ran back to Storm, who quickly pulled her back into her arms and tightened her hold on Amelia, careful not to squeeze her to death. "Ben? You ready to see if she's your little girl or mine?" Storm looked nervous, and Ben just rolled his sleeve up.
"Fine. Let's see." Storm looked down at Amelia, and Amelia looked up at her. Dr. Embers smiled widely and gestured everyone into the lab. "But as soon as we know, we're leaving." As soon as Ben made it clear that they were out after they got the results, he went inside, Storm and Amelia following him.
#
Ben was nervous as he watched Dr. Embers fiddle with the blood samples, making sure neither of them got switched with the other, since they were clearly labeled as soon as they were taken. Storm held his hand tightly, and she also kept her eye on Dr. Embers. Amelia was just playing with a few spare toys that the lab had lying around, and the guards and scientists around the small family watched the 3 of them like a hawk. Dr. Embers looked confident as he looked at his results, only to immediately lose his confidence in favor of confusion.
"What the fuck...?" He mumbled, and Ben immediately knew what was happening. He fixed his posture, and Dr. Embers immediately grabbed Ben's results, and his confusion washed away in place of anger. "What the FUCK!?" Storm caught on to what was happening, and her eyes went wide. She glanced over at Ben, and then at Amelia, as Dr. Embers walked over with both test results, slamming them down.
"So I'm guessing you aren't the father, Doctor," Ben started in a cocky tone of voice before looking at the test results, and his suspicions were confirmed. "And it looks like I am." Dr. Embers mumbled something under his breath, and Ben just grabbed a hold of Storm's hand. "You remember what I said, correct? We're leaving now that we know Amelia's my daughter." Storm gestured for Amelia to walk over to them, and she immediately dropped the toys before running over, and Storm grabbed a hold of Amelia's hand as the 3 of them left the lab, going back to DOOM and the others.
