Chapter Twenty-Six: Meeting Christopher

I'll be honest, it took me a whole day to get to the address. I guess walking halfway across town while avoiding other people was going to be quite the journey. I kind of wish I was the same size as everyone else would've been easier. But I still made it safely to the house where the man was still awake. I could see that from one of the windows. Using a pebble I found nearby, I threw it at the doorbell to make it go off.

Once I got his attention, I fell to the ground as I froze. It took him a minute to open the door and he looked around, no doubt looking for someone who wasn't me. He looked down at the doorstep where he saw me lying on the ground with my bag of costumes. His face went from confused to excited as he picked me up and examined me and my costumes. I've never seen an adult so excited over a toy ever.

He took me into the house and started walking to the dark basement. He turned on the light to reveal something I wasn't expecting. This man has a whole basement full of collectibles. And those collectibles were all gender-bent musical characters! I could see a Cats collection, a Les Mis collection, and so many more that I could name. But the one that interested me was the one at the end of the room, on the biggest shelves in the room.

It was a whole mini-set of the Opera house stage, Christopher's dressing room, the Managers office on the top shelf, and my lair on the very bottom shelf! Everything I remember was right there, in front of me. I looked to see Christopher and Adele in his dressing room, positioned like they were meeting again after years of being apart. He was even in his dressing gown that he would wear the night I took him to my lair.

The man who was holding me put me down and started putting my costumes on doll-sized mannequins and put me at my Organ, looking off at something. That's when Christopher was put in front of me. Just like the Music of the Night scene. I heard the man tell Christopher that he had finally found his Angel of Music before he left the room, leaving us all in the dark. But it didn't last when one of the Cat's characters turned the light back on, telling everyone that the coast was clear to move. Everyone unfroze and started talking among themselves. I unfroze and looked at Christopher who was looking at me with shock.

"Angel?" Christopher asked wanting to make sure that I knew him

"Christopher Daae. My Angel of Music," I said to answer his question.

He suddenly ran up to me and embraced me, making me tense up. Well, someone's missed me. He pulled away and looked me over, I guess still in disbelief that I was here.

"I thought you'd never come back to us," Christopher said.

"Well, when your owner mentioned that he had the rest of you, I couldn't resist coming to see if it was all true," I said, "How long has it been?"

"Years! We were beginning to think he'd never find you! But you're here, at last! We can finally complete the story!"

"The what? What do you mean?"

Christopher took my hand and started showing me around the different sets and collections as he explained.

"Everyone here has a story. And those stories, as you know, have become musicals over the years. To promote them, we were made to give people the thought of what if we were of different genders? Would the stories change? How would that affect the original stories? Well, every so often, we perform our shows when our owner is at work or on a business trip. This gives us something to do and release the musical side of us that we have to hide daily. Because the musical part of us doesn't end at our shows. It ranges to different songs that might not exist. It's an amazing feeling that we don't hide once we're alone. Singing is normal here."

"So wait, if I have an urge to sing about anything, I can just let it out and no one will question it?" I asked

"Not even Audrey II. And he's a giant singing plant," Christopher said

A singing plant? That I have to see someday.

"Everyone here has had the chance to do their shows. But we haven't. Without you, we can't perform our story," Christopher said, "We've been waiting for you to come to us so we can re-live our story once more. And, even after the show, we can be together. I'm not scared of your fave anymore. I can live with it," he took my hands in his, "I love you (Y/N), truly. Give me another chance."

I could only look at him. I escape one love problem just to wind up in another. I don't love him anymore. At least not like I did before. I do love him but not as much as I love Woody. I took my hands out of his and looked away.

"What's wrong?" Christopher asked

"I won't deny that I love you at one point. But there's someone else who I've been around the past decade or more who I've fallen for," I confessed

"There's another?"

I turned back to him, "A cowboy named Woody. I've been friends with him for years and I've fallen for him. But he's the real reason I came here. His heart belongs to someone else so I can't have him. And I couldn't stay around him another day knowing that we would never be together. But Christopher, I can learn to love you again. And, maybe someday, we can be together again. But not yet."

Christopher gave me a rather sad nod in reply. I apologised for hurting him but told him that it may not take me long to fall for him again. He just needed to wait a while. He said he was willing to do that. But him telling me about the fact that we can sing and perform whenever we want caught my interest. I wouldn't mind doing that whenever.

It might be fun. I told him that I wouldn't mind performing our story again and that made his face light up. He couldn't wait but we had to wait until some of the others had finished their shows so we could perform. Besides, we needed the extra cast members. Then it'll be worth the wait.
