Chapter Sixteen: Their Fate

The two walked in just as we got back into the box. From there, we could hear the conversation. Molly wanted some of Andy's stuff but Andy kept telling her no. His mum's voice was heard talking about his college plans. Anything that wasn't going with him to college was either going in the attic or it was trash. She started giving some examples while Molly opened the box we were in, asking Andy why he still had us. Good question actually.

Andy told her to leave his room so she closed the lid and left commenting that it'll be hers in three days. That soon? Really? I guess our fate will be decided today. But Molly wasn't off the hook about this either. As she would be moving into Andy's room, she would have to get rid of some stuff too. Her toys would go to a daycare where they could make other kids happy. Um, what's a daycare? I supposedly grew up in a traveling fair, I don't know what daycare is.

I asked Woody what it was but he shushed me. Fine, I'll ask later. As Andy's Mum left Molly's room, we watched Molly start lazily putting toys in the daycare box. One of them included Barbie. She hasn't been played with for a while either. I feel bad for her. Mum came back into the room and we closed the lid again. She was telling Andy that he had to start making decisions as to what he wanted to do with all of his stuff.

She even opened our box asking what he wanted to do with us. She asked him if he wanted to donate us to the daycare or sell us online. But Andy told her no because no one would want us. We were junk according to him. But Mum picked me up saying that I wasn't junk. Because I was such an old toy, I was worth a lot. Especially with the musical I'm from becoming a lot more popular now. It is? I'm surprised.

I might even be worth a lot more since I also have both of the costumes and props I came with. Oh yeah, I still have my rose somewhere. Probably in the bag with my costumes. Andy told her to leave me out of the box so he could decide in a minute. Mum sat me on his bedside table and told him that he had until Friday to decide what he was doing with everything. And anything that wasn't backed for college or in the attic was getting thrown out.

Andy's mum left and Andy closed his laptop, spinning around to face his room. He wheeled over to the toy box and looked at everyone inside. He then picked me up and looked at me. What is he thinking, I wonder. He then looked to his bed and put me back on the bedside table, grabbed a trash bag, and started putting everyone into it until there was only Woody and Buzz left. Andy picked them up and looked at them both.

He looked between them and the box for college before making his final decision. Buzz was going in the bag and Woody was going to college. Andy tied the bag up and made his way out. Woody and I unfroze and watched Andy walk away. He's really about to throw them out! Woody jumped out of the box and ran towards the door, hiding so Andy couldn't spot him. I stayed where I was. I'm just glad that Andy wasn't throwing them out.

He was just putting them in the attic. That's good. They'll be safe up there. Just a bit insulting that they were put in a trash bag. But Andy stopped what he was doing when Molly came out of her room, the daycare box full of stuff. So, Andy put the bag down and helped Molly get her things downstairs. Just as Andy left, the ladder to the attic suddenly folded up and rolled the bag over to the door next to us.

Woody went to go get them when Andy's Mum appeared and almost tripped over the bag. She yelled for Andy before just picking the bag up and taking it away. She's throwing them away! No! I got down from the bedside table to join Woody who was thinking of a way to get to them faster. He called for Buster who slowly made his way to Andy's room. Buster is way too old to be running around now. He's struggling to even carry himself around.

Woody still got on his back and told Buster to go to the curb. All Buster did was yawn and lay down right on top of Woody. Goodness sake! What was Woody thinking?! I came over and helped get Buster off of Woody. By rolling him over. I helped Woody up and we went to the window. We watched Andy's mum put the bag on the curve while the bin men were just a few houses away from ours.

I might have an idea. I took Woody's hand and got him to follow me. We went out the window and slid down the gutter. Although we did hit another gutter making us let go and fall into a bush. I got up and took out my sword to cut us out of the bush. I got Woody back up just as we saw the bin men arrive. Okay, we need to be quick. We ran out of the bush and to the trash bags.

Using my sword, I started cutting each bag until I found our friends. But there was only trash in all of them. The bin man took the bags and put them into the truck. Maybe we missed a bag and he took it! We ran after the truck but we only got so far until we watched the truck crush the bags that were in the back.

No! I started mumbling in french about what just happened when we heard a glass bottle being knocked over. What? We looked over to see the recycling bin making its way to the garage. They're alive! Oh, good! I put my sword away as we made our way over to them. I hope they're alright.
