Chapter Eighteen: Leaving Sunnyside
"And here's where you folks'll be stayin'. The Caterpillar Room!" Lotso said as we entered the room
This room was full of toys just wandering around. There was even a castle area for the little ones. We all started looking around and looking at the other toys in the room. A cat toy seemed to like me as soon as we saw each other. I gave it a pet when Lotso spoke up.
"How long's it been since you all got played with?" Lotso asked
"It's been years," Slinky said
"Well, just you wait. In a few minutes, that bell's gonna ring and you'll get the playtime that you've been dreamin' of."
"Play! Real play! I can't wait!" Rex said excitedly
"Now, if you'll excuse us, we best be headin' back," Lotso said getting back in the truck he arrived in, "Welcome to Sunnyside, folks."
Everyone said thank you or goodbye to Lotso but he didn't leave straight away. Barbie and Ken were taking their sweet time saying goodbye as they were being so lovey-dovey. So, Ken just asked Barbie to join him and she happily agreed. Lotso even asked Maddie if she wanted to join him in the Butterfly room instead. Clearly not thinking, she did join him. So, Lotso left with everyone, leaving us alone in the Caterpillar Room. We heard the children playing outside and everyone was excited for them to come back inside. Woody and I exchanged a look that clearly said we should go. We belong with Andy whether it's in the attic or at college or whatever my fate will be. Either way, we can't stay here. Besides, something doesn't seem right. How did Lotso know my name? It just seemed.
"Look, everyone. It's nice here. I admit it. But we need to go home," Woody told everyone
"We can have a whole new life here, Woody. A chance to make kids happy again," Jessie said smiling
"Why don't you stay?" Slinky asked
Everyone started trying to convince us to stay but we had made our decision.
"No!" I told everyone making them shut up
Everyone looked at me with shocked
"I have a kid. You have a kid. Andy! And if he wants us at college or in the attic, well, then, our job is to be there for him!" I told everyone, "And I can't stay here. If one toddler sees what's under this mask, they'll scream. I don't want to traumatize any of these kids so I'm going home!"
"And whoever wants to join us is welcome," Woody added
He started walking away, expecting Buzz to follow but he didn't move. He's not coming.
"Our mission with Andy is complete, Woody," Buzz told him
"What?" Woody asked
"And what's important now is we stay together."
"We wouldn't even be together if it weren't for Andy!" Woody held up his boot with Andy's name written on it, "Look under your boot, Buzz. You too, Jessie. Who's name is written there?"
"Maybe Andy doesn't care about us anymore," Rex said
"Of course he does," I said, "He cares about all of you! He was putting you in the attic. Woody and I saw. You can't just turn your back on him now!"
"(Y/N)! Wake up! It's over! Andy is all grown up!" Jessie told me
She thinks I don't know that? Andy will have kids someday and then we'll be played with again. This isn't the answer. But Woody had enough of what everyone was saying. He was ready to go. And so am I. Buzz went to give Woody a goodbye handshake but Woody turned it down and headed for the door. Bullseye tried to join us but Woody told him not to. Woody didn't want him to be alone in the attic. Especially if I'm being sold online.
We then heard the receptionist again looking for Bonnie. This was our cue to go. Woody and I raced to the door just as it opened. I caught the door just as the receptionist walked through the door. Time to go. We walked out, closing the door behind us. We made it out to the hallway where we saw some teachers talking. But we quickly froze when the janitor walked by. But we hung onto his cart as he walked over us.
Good thing too because he was headed straight for the door. Or so we thought. We ended up in the bathroom instead. When the janitor left his cart, Woody and I snuck out from underneath into one of the stalls. There was an open window but it was above the toilet. Well, it's currently our only way out so we just have to deal with it. Woody grabbed some toilet paper and put it on the seat
He climbed up before quickly helping me up too. We climbed up the back of it where Woody then jumped onto the rail above the toilet roll. Only for it to start moving underneath him, almost falling into the toilet. He got his balance back and started climbing while I followed him. Somehow, without being caught, we made it outside. Below us, we saw the receptionist approach a little girl. This was Bonnie.
Well, nice to know the answer to that. It was time for them to go home now. Which is what we need to do. We climbed onto the roof where Woody just started running until he got to the edge. I followed to see that we were right above the playground where kids were still playing. And no way to sneak out because there was a giant wall keeping everyone in. Lovely. Woody's hat suddenly blew off his head which revealed something we could use.
A mini glider! But there's only one. So we're going to be very close while getting out of here. Small price to pay. So, Woody had me go in front of him and he got behind me. We held onto the glider and started running to the end of the roof. And we made it safely off the roof and into the air where no one seemed to notice us flying over them. We made it safely over the wall and onto the ground. We made it!
But the wind picked up again, launching us both back into the air! The glider suddenly started to go crazy and yank us around until the bar we were holding onto snapped and we started falling. We fell into a tree where Woody and I had problems. Woody's pull-string got caught on a branch saving him from falling. My cape was doing the exact same thing but it was choking me. So, just to save myself, I unclipped the part around my neck, causing me to fall again but we weren't that high so I was alright.
But Woody was still stuck. I was about to save him when I saw Bonnie approach so I froze and so did Woody. Boonie bumped into Woody and took him off the tree, making his voice box go off. Boonie's mum, who was the receptionist, called for Bonnie just as she noticed me on the floor. So, she took me and Woody and put us in her bag. Seriously? Okay, getting back to Andy may take longer than I thought.
