Double the change
Tigress and Po eventually reached the Valley of Peace where they walked through the square and were greeted by a few villagers. They stopped to say hi, but then continued on towards the Jade Palace.
"So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?" Po asked Tigress.
"Train," came the immediate answer. "And figure out how I'm going to work out seeing Dai in conflict with my training schedule."
"I guess just ask Shifu."
"I was planning on that."
The two made their way over to the stairs, passing Scorpion by as she ventured over to the noodle shop.
"Good morning, you two," she called over with a wave.
"Hey," Po called back. "How, uh, how's your day going?"
"Just fine, sweetheart."
She then disappeared into the noodle shop, allowing Po and Tigress to go over and climb the stairs.
"Getting along with Scorpion any better?" Tigress asked.
"A little, but I'm still working on it," Po admitted.
"What are you doing for the rest of the afternoon?"
"I was planning on relaxing. Though...if you want a sparring partner for training...."
Tigress smirked at him. "Oh good," she replied. "Someone I can actually beat up."
Po playfully gasped and put a hand to his heart. "Beat me up?" he sighed. "You insult me, Master Tigress."
"Come on, Po. You and I both know that you can't beat me unless you stay focused. Which is rare."
"I sense a challenge afoot!" Po cried, folding his arms with a grin.
"Perhaps," Tigress replied as the two reached the top of the stairs and entered the Jade Palace.
"Well in that case...challenge accepted!"
The two walked across the Jade Palace grounds and over to the slope that would lead them to the training hall and it's grounds. As they began their ascent, Tigress spotted Monkey and Mantis sneaking around in the opposite direction.
"What are you two doing?" Tigress asked, not bothering to turn her head.
"SHHH!!!!" Monkey whispered loudly. "Don't blow our cover!!!"
"What are you doing?" Po asked suspiciously, turning to look at the mischievous pair.
"We were spying on Shifu and Mei-Ling," Mantis answered, lowering his voice. "Just don't tell them we said that; they said specifically to leave them be."
The two then snickered and darted in the opposite direction and disappeared around the corner.
"Well that's a new one," Po commented. "Where are Shifu and Mei-Ling?"
"Probably in the Sacred Hall of Warriors," Tigress guessed.
Her and Po went up the slope and walked to the Training Hall where they proceeded to open the gate. As they walked inside, Po was immediately greeted by a hard whack on the head.
"OOOWWWW!!!" Po yelled.
"Oh, sorry, Dragon Warrior," Shifu said, lowering his stick. "I thought you were Monkey and Mantis."
"Good thing I was over here," Tigress remarked.
Po rubbed the top of his head with a wince. "I need an ice pack," he grumbled.
"Apologies," Shifu told him.
From next to him, Mei-Ling let out a laugh and kissed Shifu on the cheek. "You can hit those two later, Fufi" she said. "For now though, why don't we go for a walk?"
"That sounds like a lovely plan, my dear. It'll at least keep Monkey and Mantis' attention focused somewhere more productive, hopefully."
"Hopefully not on us or Crane and Viper," Po said, casting a nervous glance back down the slope.
"Wait, you knew they were spying on you?" Tigress asked her master.
"Just because I'm in the middle of a date, doesn't mean that I can't hear them scuttling around the perimeter," Shifu answered, a slight flush appearing on his face. "I don't know how they forget that." He eyed the two masters. "How did you know that?" he asked.
"They told us that on the way back," Tigress answered. "They thought they were being sneaky."
"Well they weren't." Shifu coughed again and turned to look at Mei-Ling. "Shall we go, my dear?" he asked, holding an arm out to Mei-Ling.
Mei-Ling happily took it and the two began to walk out of the training hall.
"I'll see you at dinner," Mei-Ling called out.
"You'll see us later?" Po asked in surprise. "Aren't you going to the lodge place to avoid the Chorh-Gom guards?"
"Oh, we got that all worked out," Shifu dismissed with a casual wave of his hand. "Besides, we have something to announce later."
When the two left, Po looked over at Tigress who had an extremely puzzled look on her face.
"Is it bad to say that I have a million things running through my head about the announcement that are bad?" Po asked her.
"Considering your history with Shifu, no," Tigress assured him.
Po looked at her. "Do you think she's moving in?" he asked. "Because she's off the hook with the guards?"
"Maybe," Tigress said. "I don't know. We'll have to see."
"As long as it doesn't have anything to do with practically killing us in the training hall, I'll be okay," Po commented, walking over to the training hall.
Tigress chuckled and shut the gates. "You'll be fine," she promised. "You survived the Blushing Spikes of Impeding Demise. And the Earthen Marks of Eternity."
"Yeah, barely."
"Don't worry about it."
The two walked into the training hall and hopped down to the center of the hall, clear of any training equipment. Tigress got into a fighting stance and faced Po with a determined look on her face. "Now," she said. "Shall we begin?"
Po grinned and got into a stance himself. "Bring it!" he challenged.
After long hours of sparring, the masters called it quits and began to head over to the kitchen so that Po could prepare dinner. Mei-Ling and Shifu weren't there, but the rest of the masters were. Crane and Viper were busy talking on one side of the table while Monkey and Mantis sat on the other side and discussed how excellent they were at stealth. Tigress and Po were a bit surprised that they weren't bothering the couple sitting right next to them.
"Hey, you two!" Monkey called out with a wave once he saw Po and Tigress. "How was your romantic stroll?"
"We weren't romantically doing anything," Tigress scolded. "We're not dating."
"Wait, what?" Mantis exclaimed in shock. "Are you being serious?! After admitting you like each other?! After getting into fights with Mei-Mei over it?!"
"Not my fault she started it."
"AFTER CONSTANTLY HANGING OUT FOR OVER A WEEK??!!!"
"We're not dating right now," Tigress snarled. "It's not a good time. End of discussion."
Po, who had been watching her and Mantis talk, quickly ducked his head away and walked over to the stove to begin cooking dinner. He grabbed a large pot and began to boil some water on the stove as Tigress sat down, continuing to glare at Monkey and Mantis to ensure they didn't say anything else. A few minutes of silence passed by before the mischievous masters started talking about the latest festival in honor of defeating Kai. Po soon finished cooking dinner and began to pour some for his friends when the kitchen door opened and Mei-Ling and Shifu walked inside.
"Oh, hey Shifu," Po said. "Hey, Mei-Ling."
"She's staying for dinner?" Mantis asked in surprise. "No secret lodge meetings?"
"We got all of that worked out this morning," Shifu promised as he and Mei-Ling went to go and sit down at the table. "And speaking of which..." The master swiftly took out his staff and sharply whacked Monkey and Mantis on their heads.
"OOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!" Mantis screamed.
"What was that for?!" Monkey exclaimed.
"That's for spying on Mei-Ling and I this afternoon!!!" Shifu scolded angrily. "And if I catch you doing anything that nosy again, you're going to find yourselves in the hospital for a few days! Am I clear?!"
"Yes, sir!!!" the two masters exclaimed quickly.
"I'd better hope so!"
Po served everyone dinner and finally sat down at the table. Mantis and Monkey kept rubbing their heads and allowed the pain to go away before they began to dig into their food. "Can we at least spy on Po and Tigress?" Monkey asked.
"No!" Shifu yelled.
"But they won't date!!!" Mantis protested. "It's been over a week!!!! Crane and Viper are publicly dating!!!"
"Po and Tigress' relationship is none of your business. And you try to make it your business, you won't like the outcome of it."
"Wait, you guys announced that you were dating?" Po asked Crane in surprise. "To the whole valley?"
"We didn't see the point in not telling people," Crane told him with a shrug. "Either way it was going to get out."
Monkey held in a snicker.
"Well that's exciting," Mei-Ling told them. "How long have you two been going out?"
"A couple of months," Viper answered.
Everyone went back to eating, Monkey and Mantis asking how Shifu finally managed to get Mei-Ling off of the hook with the Chorh-Gom guards (which wound up being about a thirty minute longer story than the two second explanation that Tigress and Po were given). After the story was finished, the topic was then moved to how the village reacted to Crane and Viper dating.
"Everyone seemed excited about it," Viper assured them. "Though Mr. Ping made a remark about when Po and Tigress were going to start dating."
Po loudly groaned and slammed his head on the table.
"Actually, speaking of which," Shifu piped up. "Mei-Ling and I have something to announce."
"Is she moving in?" Monkey asked.
"Well...yes, but that's not what I was going to say," Shifu said.
"You're not both going to try and kill us in the training hall, are you?" Po asked nervously.
Shifu rolled his eyes upward as Monkey, Mantis, and Crane held in some laughter.
"No," Shifu told him. "Mei-Ling will not be teaching kung fu. Maybe."
"We'll discuss that another time," Mei-Ling added.
Shifu cleared his throat to make sure he had everyone's attention. (And to ensure that no one tried to interrupt him again). "Mei-Ling and I wanted to announce to you all that, after careful discussion, we've decided to get married."
Tigress, who had been quietly drinking her tea, immediately held back a choking cough to prevent her tea from spraying out onto Shifu, though this only made things worse by causing her to dangerously choke.
