Chapter One
Patton and Roman were jumping up and down as the last side, Logan, had arrived. Virgil hummed as he looked around, noting that Janus and Remus were here. Virgil blushed as he caught Remus's eye and looked away. Regardless, he couldn't help the smirk on his face.
"Happy birthday, Thomas!" Patton and Roman cheered, the others adding calmed wishes.
"Thanks guys." Thomas chuckled.
"We should see when we die, for Thomas how soon right?" Janus hummed.
"Yup! Let's see how long you have until you can get me, eh Thomas?" Remus teased.
"I don't think I'll ever get rid of you." Thomas laughed.
Virgil watched with a smile, glad the sides excitement overwhelmed the feud. Logan was watching the clock.
"If my calculations are correct, we should get our new abilities now." Logan chimed in.
As if time was waiting for that sentence, two boxes appeared above each side. The owner of the side can see the one with a number. The host could see the one with words.
"73!" Patton cheered.
"Same!" Roman chirped.
"I have received 73." Logan added, adjusting his glasses for no reason.
"73." Janus answered the unspoken answer.
Thomas looked at all the sides with a smile on his face. Each one said that they'll die by age. That is... until he came across Remus and Virgil. He looked curious, yet confused. Their way of death was glitched out.
Virgil and Remus looked at their numbers, the former happily calm while the latter wanted to see how long he can tease his host. Both expressions fell when they saw the number. They looked at each other before turning to the other sides, who were so caught up in excitement. Virgil and Remus sunk into the mindscape. Nobody noticed they never said how long they'd live.
Remus and Virgil landed in Virgil's bedroom. Despite the rest of his corner being gloomy, his room was calm. He had painted the walls a deep, calming blue with black music notes and white stars painted randomly. The floor was made of wood. He had a queen-sized bed in the room's corner, filled with pillows and blankets. Even a stuffed octopus the size of a body pillow he got as a present one year.
Virgil and Remus looked at each other before collapsing into the other's arms, hugging the other for dear life. Time has passed when they calm down, yet still not leaving the others hold.
"So what did you get for your number?" Virgil asked quietly.
"...6 days... what about you?" Remus answered.
"6 days." Virgil replied, leaning into Remus's chest.
"Hey, at least we'll die together or not long after each other." Remus gave a bittersweet smirk.
"Not even death can do us apart." Virgil chuckled.
"I love you." Remus admitted quietly as he teleported them onto Virgil's bed.
"I love you too, Re." Virgil responded.
"I'm lucky to have you as my boyfriend." Remus purred quietly.
"I'm the lucky one." Virgil argued before letting out a yawn.
"Go to sleep Virge."
"Okay. Night Re."
"Night Virge."
The next morning, when Virgil woke up, Remus was gone, but the octopus took his spot. Virgil blushed and smiled, burying his head into the plush.
