Ch. 5 "The Tervano"

Lia and I watched as the Tervano was led away by the alien soldiers. The audience cheered and applauded as Tervano left the arena. Lia turned to me and smiled. "That was amazing, wasn't it?"

"I've never seen anything like it," I said.

"The Tervano is a powerful creature," Lia said. "She's one of the strongest creatures in the galaxy."

I was amazed by what I had seen. I couldn't imagine how powerful the Tervano must be to defeat so many robots.

"How am I going to defeat that creature?" I asked, "Are you sure that I'll win by just saying nice words?"

Lia smiled and said, "You'll see by yourself; let's head back home to make the handsome, sweet talker, and kind version of you"!

Lia and I headed back to her place and took a seat. "Do you have a plan?" I asked.

"Yes," Lia answered. "Listen carefully; first of all, we'll attract an alien to focus on you; we'll remove that red paint from your body and wash your hair to be as black as it was; then we'll put you in front of the coffee shop. And when an alien spots you, act like you just came here and don't know where you are, and believe anything they'll tell you and nod your head confusedly if they ask you a question".

"And then, they'll put me on the battlefield to fight the Tervano, but instead of fighting, I'll just try to make her heart flatter so she'll give up, right?" I said

"Exactly!" Lia shouted excitedly, "but let's think of how you'll make her heart flatter".

Lia and I spent the day thinking and training, until we called it a day and decided that tomorrow would be the day.

We woke up early to start our plan. I washed up in the shower, and when I got out of it, I was back to my normal identity. I wore my old clothes and made up my hair. Lia looked at me, saying, "Are you ready?"

I nodded with a smile. And then Lia disappeared for a while and when she came back, she gave me a weird, huge balloon that I could fit in.

"What's this?" I asked.

"It's an invisible balloon," she said. "The moment you get in, the moment you'll be totally invisible. You wanted to walk through the crowed with this skin and hair color, didn't you? Huh, how stupid," then she side-eyed me.

"Okaayyyy fine, stop judging me, I beg you," I said while rolling up my eyes.

I got in the balloon, and as we walked through the crowd, I think no one noticed me back then.

When we arrived at the coffee shop, Lia whispered, "I'll be going now, but I'll be watching you from a distance, so be careful". Then she covered me with her back so I can remove my invisible balloon.

She took the balloon away with her and looked at me, raising her thumbs up, and I could read her lips saying, "Good luck". I raised my thumbs and smiled.

It didn't take a lot of time for an alien to spot me; he was really tall with green skin and three eyes. "Hello," he said. "Are you lost?"

"Uh-um, yes," I stammered.

His eyes widened. "Oooh, then let me tell you that you're not lost, little human," he said. "What's the last thing that you remember?"

"I remember...drinking coffee," I stammered again. "Then I found myself here".

"Hehe, well, you've died," he smirked.

"What?" I acted all shocked.

"Yeah, human," he said, "this is your afterlife, and all of those people are spirits. The red people are demons, and the blue people are angels. Which one would you like to choose?"

"I don't know," I said.

"Well, it's not even your choice; it's Tervano who'll decide," he said, ignoring the eye contact.

"W-who's Tervano?" I asked.

His eyes widened again, looking into my eyes in excitement. "He's the god! And your destiny is in his hands. Ooooh, my bad! I didn't introduce myself! I'm Xylo, the Tervano's assistant!" he said. "Now, shall we go to meet him?"

"Okay," I said.

Xylo led me to the battlefield; he wanted to trick me, and he has been talking about how wise the Tervano is and kept telling me about a fake history to convince me that the Tervano's a great wise creature, and I just nodded and acted to believe him as Lia told me to.

After a few minutes, we arrived at the battlefield, and Xylo kept telling me that this isn't a battlefield and that this is the judging place of the great Tervano. I didn't listen to him; I was thinking only one thing: how to make the Tervano give up.

And all of a sudden, Xylo pushed me into the battle field and closed the gate while smirking. I wasn't surprised at all, but I tried to act all surprised with my poor acting skills, but thank God, Xylo believed that he had tricked me.

The drums were drumming again as the soldiers led Tervano to the battlefield. I was outgunned, but I knew there's no need to have a gun that would make her make the wrong impression about me.

The battle began. My legs were shaking, and my heart was beating so fast. I scanned the audience, searching for Lia. I thought she wasn't there for a moment, but I saw her! She was waving at me and shouting, "You got this, Felix!".

Not going to lie, that gave me some confidence. The Tervano was staring into my soul, glaring and roaring in anger at my face. And while we were making eye contact, she started roaring even harder, and she picked up a huge rock, rose it up with her hands, and was ready to throw it on me. I hardly dodged that! I thought that I was going to die for a moment! But then she was breathing in and was about to spit the acid at me!

But then I took a deep breath and shouted to her, "Hey! I know you're not a bad alien! I know they misunderstood you! You deserve better treatment than these! YOU ARE NOT A MONSTER, BUT THEY ARE!"

After these words from me, there was a silence. I wondered if she understood me, but then she absorbed that acid into her body again, so I knew that she understood me! Then I started to heat her up more: "Hear me out! You're the most beautiful and powerful creature in the universe; why would you let them control you and treat you like a dog or a punishment machine? Don't listen to people's opinions! You're so much better than them! They are the true villains, not you! So what are you waiting for?! Smash them and show them the real you!"

Unexpectedly, she started to cry. Tervano's tears were like burning lava, dripping down her cheeks and onto the ground, scorching the earth. I stood there, stunned, unsure of what to do next. Then I heard Lia shouting, "Felix! The tears are the solution!"

Then she threw a small bottle to me. I got that she wanted me to collect some tears, and then I infiltrated alongside the Tervano so she didn't notice me when I was taking her tears. I picked some up with my bottle and ran away.

The doors were still closed, so I got an idea: "Tervano! Aren't you going to take revenge? They are standing right there! The aliens who treated you like trash!" I shouted.

She glared at them with her eyes, and then with her hands, she destroyed the whole battlefield! The gates broke, so I ran while trying not to get smashed by rocks. People were running in fear, and the aliens took their spaceships and tried to escape, but the Tervano was faster that she destroyed every spaceship she saw! And between the crowds, I felt a hand trying to pull me; it was Lia!

"Come on, run!" she yelled.

We were running at maximum speed, and rocks were falling next to us from every side! We never looked back; I just heard the screams of the poor people and the angry roars of the Tervano. We ran until we reached the coffee shop. It was peaceful there because it was far away from the battlefield.

"Now hurry up and drink those tears!" Lia said. "It'll bring you back to your era".

"B-But..." I stammered.

"Hurry up before they find you!" Lia yelled at me.

"What about you?" I asked. "Will you be alright?"

"Don't worry, just go back to your era," she said. "I don't want to see your ugly face again".

"HUH? IN THESE MOMENTS YOU SHOULD BE NICE AND SAY I'll never forget you OR CUTE THINGS LIKE THIS!" I shouted as I was influenced.

"Okay, take this as a souvenir," she said. "This is a phone from here; you'll be so famous for having a phone from the future. Is that enough?"

"Oh, that's what I'm talking about," I said. "Thank you for everything, Lia".

"Stop being lovey-dovey and drink the tears," she said.

"SIGH, okay!" I said.

And that was our last conversation forever, or that's what I thought.

I drank the tears, felt a sting from the back of my neck, and felt a strong headache that I couldn't handle. I closed my eyes.

When I opened it again, I found myself in the coffee shop, and the barista was staring at me, confusedly. I glared at her, as I know she's an alien, and left the coffee shop.

I walked out of the coffee shop and took a deep breath of fresh air. I was finally back in my own era. I looked down at the phone in my hand and smiled.

I decided to go for a walk to clear my head. As I walked, I thought about Lia. I wondered if I would ever see her again. But I knew that even if I didn't, I would never forget her.

When I was drowning in my thoughts, a police car grabbed me. "What did I do?!" I asked, but no one of them answered me.

And when we arrived at the police station, I found Mom crying inside the police officer's office.

"YOU REPORTED ME AS A DRUG DEALER?" I shouted.

"You disappeared for a WHOLE FOUR DAYS! What did you think I'm going to do, huh? Just sit down without doing anything?" she said.

"At least report me missing! Not a freaking DRUG DEALER!"

"They don't give attention to the missing people these days, as most of the missing cases are dead! Where the heck were you, POTATO HEAD?" she asked.

"MOM!" *sigh* "it's a long stowyyy-..." with teary eyes, I said.

"Awwrr, my dear son, I was really worried 'bout you," mom said while crying again and hugging me. I couldn't hold back my tears, so I let them just fall. "I missed you so much, mom," I said. Then we both started crying and barking.

"Finished?" the police officer asked. "Now tell me a one damn reason to not put the both of you in jail on charges of false drug case and disturbing the authorities".

My mom and I looked at the officer, angrily. As he interrupt an important moment for us.

Ignoring him, we continued our hug. But my mom paid a lot of money to make us out of those problems before we get arrested, and then we headed home. I changed into my comfort clothes, mom made my favorite dinner, and she didn't leave me alone until I told her about my adventure.

I told her about Lia, Zornoa, and Regaznia, the Tervano and the Great Line, and the aliens they would occupy the Earth in the future. And she didn't believe a word until I showed her the phone that Lia gave me.

I took a shower and sat on my bed thinking about my days in the future, and out of the blue, I got a notification, but it wasn't from my phone; it was from the other phone...

I looked at it in shock, and after a whole minute of trying to comprehend what just happened, I decided to open the notification. I struggled so hard to open that complicated phone, and by luck, I opened the message.
I couldn't believe my eyes...

I got a message...
                                        from Lia...
