The Secret Library

Scott's Perspective-

The Next Day-

Scott and Gem met up at the library tower the following day. Scott was looking at the crystal, which was shining brightly. He smiled and Gem cleared her throat.

Scott turned around and Gem smiled.

"You ready?"

Scott nods, "Yeah, let's get this whole demon business over with."

Gem mounted a broom and took off while Scott folded out his wings and followed her.

-

They landed in front of a cave between Crystal Cliffs and Rivendell.

"Why are we here?" Scott asked, watching as Gem looked around the rocks.

"Trust me." She said, smiling as she pushed a rock, which opened a door.

Scott's eyes widened and Gem took out her wand, casting a light spell. She glanced back at Scott and nodded her head.

"Come on." She said, walking in. Scott took a deep breath before nodding and walking behind her.

It was a tight, small passageway that was very rickety.

"How did you even find this?" Scott asked.

"Do you remember how you let me borrow some ancient books from the library tower?"

"Yeah, so you can do some research."

"Well one of them," She held up the book she showed Scott yesterday, "Had a map."

"Why? What does this lead too?"

"It said it leads to the home of old legends. I checked it out the other day and it was a library filled with books in the old Elven language. I could only translate a bit but not all." Gem said, knocking her staff on the wall of the cave. The part in front of them opened, revealing a spacious library.

"Woah." Scott whispers and Gem walked in, setting the book she was carrying on the table in the middle of the room.

Scott wandered around. He pulled a book off the shelf and blew the dust off it. He stared at the cover and flipped it open, seeing that it was all in a language that was long forgotten.

"Here, I wrote down this translator but it's still a lot." Gem said, giving Scott a piece of paper with the alphabet and what it meant in the Elven language.

"Thank you, Gem. I'm gonna do my best to try and figure this out."

"Do you want my help?"

"No, you've done enough. Thank you."

Gem looked worried but Scott nodded.

"Alright, well let me know if you need me."

Scott smiles and waves goodbye as she leaves.

He sighed and sat down at the table, opening the book.

-

Scott grumbled as he woke up. He was back at the castle.

He looked around, confused, and he stood up, wandering the halls.

"Hello?" Scott's voice echoed in the empty rooms.

"Scott!"

Scott gasped and he turned around. His eyes widened as he saw Xornoth running towards him. He had a red amulet around his neck.

"Wha- Xornoth? You're okay!" Scott ran up and hugged him.

"Well, kind of. Gem gave me this that's supposed to keep the demon at bay."

"That's great! How- how do you feel? When did this happen? I just spoke with Gem a couple hours ago."

"Yeah, well she was able to fix everything without you."

Scott's smile flickered.

"What?"

"You know, everyone just found you useless, so they just took matters into their own hands. Gem figured it out all on her own without you, who's supposed to be blessed by Aeor!"

"I- I did my best! I just- "

"Wasn't strong enough? Rich coming from the brother who shouted at me for not being able to fight off a demon." Xornoth spat.

"I'm sorry!! Please, I feel guilty for doing that but please- "

"Please what? Understand? Be there for you? Why should I help you when all you did is kick me down?"

"I didn't- I was just- I- "

"You what?!" Xornoth lashed out, pushing Scott down. Scott fell and he tumbled down. He looked back up and saw the demon in front of him.

"It's time you give up and stop making everything worse."

-

Scott gasped as he woke up. He felt sweat on his forehead and he saw he was still in the library. He grumbled and stood up, sore from the uncomfy wood chair.

He tried to walk out of the cave, but the door was shut. He tried to open it but couldn't.

He sighed and turned back to the library, his dream still lingering on his mind.

He walked across the library, trying to find another exit, and one of the books fell off the shelf.

He turned around and saw a handle behind a couple of books. He ran over and pulled the lever, the bookshelf opening to reveal another exit.

He smiled and glanced back at the other closed exit before nodding and entering the opened passageway.
