Gleaming Hope
Scott's Perspective-
Over the course of the week, Wallis often left to go to The Lost Empire. Scott didn't know why and eventually asked if he could tag along to see what was happening.
"Oh, Scott I don't know if I'd like you to come with me." Wallis said, grabbing his sword and examining how sharp it was.
"But dad, I just want to help."
"I know you do, but- "
"This has something to do with Xornoth. What happened? Is it worse?"
Wallis sighed and he put down his sword before kneeling down on his son's level.
"Things are getting worse as far as the corruption." Wallis sighs, "And I'm not sure how to fix it."
"Is Xornoth okay?"
"...I don't know."
Scott looks worried and Wallis hugs him.
"It'll be okay." He whispers.
"So can I come with? Please? You- you said you needed to train my powers maybe that's how I can."
"How did you-? You know what, never mind." Wallis sighs, "But...I suppose you're right. We could test your powers."
Scott smiled hopefully.
"Alright, I'll let you come with."
-
When they arrived at The Lost Empire, Scott grew concerned as he saw the tentacles that were just about the size of the temples and blocked out a lot of the sun's light.
"Oh cod..." He whispered, shaking.
Wallis nods reassuringly and they step out of the carriage.
Rose was already there, and she was talking with Azar, who was shouting a bit.
Scott followed his dad over to the two and Wallis talked with them while Scott looked up at one of the tentacles.
"So what, this child is supposed to be better than her?" Azar snapped, pointing at Rose, who rolled her eyes.
"I say we try it." She said, "If this legend is true, I'd like to see it."
Scott gulps and looks up at his dad, who kneels down.
"What do I do?" Scott whispered, picking at his nails.
"Well just try and focus on getting rid of this." Wallis said, smiling, "That's what worked for me. Just thinking of what I'd like to see instead of the corruption."
Scott nods and he takes a deep breath, looking up at the corruption.
He shut his eyes and thought about how he'd like the Lost Empire to look without all the corrupt tentacles.
His deer antlers glowed and there was a spark of light in each tentacle.
The light faded and Scott kneeled down, feeling weak.
Wallis put his arm around his son, letting him lean on him.
Azar looked at the corruption to see two or three gold blocks put in each one.
He scoffed, "How is this supposed to take care of the corruption? Gold isn't going to do anything, it's just a shiny metal."
Scott shrunk down in his father's arms.
"He helped your empire, what more do you want." Wallis snapped and Azar huffed.
"If this doesn't work, you owe me."
The Next Day (Joey's Perspective)-
The corruption had been getting worse and worse. Every time we got rid of it; it came back stronger.
I was starting to lose hope.
That was until I walked out of my temple today to see that the corruption was gone. The light was once again shining in our beautiful empire, the villagers were running around, and peace was restored.
My eyes widened and a smile spread across my face as I ran around in the radiant sun.
I went up to my dad's temple to see him talking with some of our people.
He dismissed them once he saw me, and he looked at me expectantly, wondering why I was bothering him.
"Dad, did you see-?"
"Yes, Joey, I saw." Azar sighs.
"Are we...allies with Rivendell?"
"No, of course not."
"But...why not?"
"Joey, you have to understand that we simply watch the chaos and have the people who started the problem help us. It is their fault after all so they can't really say no." Azar said, smirking, "So Wallis started this huge problem with the demon and when I was hurt, I simply told him he had to help me. Allies hurt you, Joey. Remember that. Allies force you to stay loyal to someone. You just want to watch from the sidelines. Okay?"
"...right." I whispered, looking down.
I walked down the temple towards where the corruption once stood.
My eyes landed on an envelope, and I picked it up, opening it.
'This is just the beginning, my friend. Or should I say my love? You betrayed your kingdom just as much as Xornoth did. This isn't over'
I felt my heart stop and my breath grew short.
No...no this isn't my fault...I just...unleashed the demon. Oh cod this is my fault.
