•XI - The Wedding•
ASTORIA SAT on her vanity as Daphne brushed her hair. Her eyes were empty, her mind was absent.
She wore a long white gown, the one he's supposed to wear on her and Draco's wedding. Everything was still the same. Same venue, same food, same vows- the only thing different is that she's not to be married to Draco.
But to Francis Warrenton instead.
The wizard everyone despised, yet adored.
"I don't get how everything came to this," Astoria mumbled to herself.
Daphne looked at her upset sister on the mirror. She soothed Astoria's hair, a look of sadness in her eyes, "It'll all be over soon, sister. You're just going to take his last name, and nothing else."
"I don't get it- why me? Why not you?" asked Astoria as she looked at her older sister through the mirror.
The older Greengrass didn't know what to say- how can Astoria ask such question? With furrowed eyebrows, Daphne shook her head, "Because I don't want to marry Malfoy. All these years, you always asked me about him. You always glanced at him from afar," she said.
Astoria stood from her seat, her eyes glassy with tears. She was angry, even though she has no right to, "Well that was before! I don't want to marry Warrenton!" she exclaimed, facing her sister.
"Well, it's not my fault there has been a change if plans, Astoria! There's nothing I can do!" Daphne exclaimed, raising her voice. Astoria was being selfish. It was Daphne who wanted to marry Draco first, but she cared for her sister.
So how was it her fault now?
"You could've took the fall to marry Warrenton! I don't know, but why not just you?!"
Daphne raised her hand, and without any other words, slapped Astoria across the face, her face red with anger.
The older Greengrass looked at her sister, "You're being selfish, Astoria. I hope it gets you somewhere- I hope it gets you to your doom."
Astoria didn't speak, she looked down, ashamed. She knew she shouldn't have said that, but this wasn't how she wanted things to go- but whatever her excuse was, she shouldn't have said those things. Especially to her sister.
Straightening her dress, Daphne walked out of the room, her eyes glassy with tears, and on the way to her own room, she saw Francis Warrenton stand outside Astoria's room, as if he was eavesdropping.
Daphne furrowed her eyebrows, which Francis just smiled at. Ignoring him, the older Greengrass entered her own room. There was no way she was going to attend her sister's wedding now.
She remembered the time in Hogwarts, she and Draco were on the same year, she liked him, but then Astoria started talking about him, asking her stuff.
By that time, Daphne knew she needed to back away, because she wanted to give everything to her sister. Her sister's happiness is more important than some boy.
She just didn't expect this turn of events.
But it's out of her hands now.
* * *
"With this candle, I will light your way to darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine."
Astoria let Francis slip the ring on her finger, and she picked up the candle from the table. It was time to say her own vows, and everyone waited in anticipation, "With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I am your wine," she said, her eyes emotionless, and her words empty, "With this candle, I will light your way to darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine," she said, and slipped the ring on Francis' finger.
And just like that, she was Mrs. Warrenton.
Meanwhile in the land of the dead, everyone was more alive than ever. They were happy, they were excited to go up.
Y/N's smile never left her face as Hudson helped her fix her self a bit, while the spiders helped Draco sew the ripped parts of his suit.
It wasn't long until everyone was ready.
And with that, they left to go up, and with a blink of an eye, they were in a forest.
Everyone immediately ran around, and Y/N just smiled. She's happy that everyone is happy. Skeletons jumped around, and were just enjoying their temporary freedom. Not that they didn't like it down there, but they never really got any natural light.
"Merlin, they're excited," Draco chuckled.
Y/N looked at him, "It's been a while since they last saw the light," she let out a laugh and held her hand out, "Shall we?"
Draco took the girl's hand without second thoughts. He gave it a light comforting squeeze, and with that, the two walked out of the woods, and towards the chapel.
But clearly, the others had other plans. They crashed the celebration of Astoria's and Francis' wedding inside the Greengrass manor. Everyone screamed in horror seeing the skeletons, and dead people.
Astoria's eyes widen, she immediately stood up from her seat on the very end of the table beside Francis. All the wizards and witches either ran out of the manor, or apparated out of it, even Mr. and Mrs. Greengrass, leaving Astoria with Francis.
Also Daphne who locked herself in her room- but the skeleton people luckily didn't go up the stairs.
Francis hid under the table, pulling Astoria with him as the skeletons took their food. The man shook the girl, "Where is it?!"
Astoria, even though scared, asked, "Where's what?"
"The money, you idiot!" exclaimed Francis with such anger.
The girl furrowed her eyebrows, "What do you mean? We don't have any money. It's the reason I married you!" exclaimed Astoria.
Francis' eyes widen in surprise. No, this cannot be happening. He needs money, he hasn't had anymore if it. And he thought- he thought the Greengrass has a fortune! Merlin, they did have a fortune!
"Don't lie to me, girl!" Francis yelled as plates beside them fell on the floor.
Astoria shook her head, "I promise you, we don't have anything. We were doing the same thing you're doing, Francis."
With that, Astoria left from underneath the table, seeing as the skeletons already left, as if they really just went for the food.
"Oh, no you won't!" exclaimed Francis, and brought out his wand.
Astoria's eyes widen in surprise as she saw the man mutter a spell. Time seemed to slow down as she closed her eyes, and waited for the spell to hit her.
But then she heard someone, "Stupefy!"
Hearing a loud bang from the other side of the room, Astoria jumped in surprise. She opened her eyes, and looked around. She immediately ran towards Daphne when she saw her, and hugged her tightly, her tears falling from her eyes like a waterfall, "I'm sorry I said those mean things- I didn't mean them, Daphne."
The older Greengrass just gave a small sigh, and hugged her little sister back, "It's all over now, Astoria. Don't worry."
Pulling away, the two of them looked at Francis, who laid unconscious on the floor. Astoria wiped her tears off her face, and asked, "Do you think he's alive?"
Daphne held Astoria's hand tightly, "Just unconscious- which is why we need to get out of here, and now."
Without another word, Daphne pulled Astoria with her out of their manor.
They didn't know where they were going, but they found themselves following the skeleton people towards a chapel.
No one knew, but that's where things will end. Hopefully, everyone gets their happy endings.
