•I - According To Plan•
INSIDE DRACO'S room, it was dark, but that didn't stop him from staring at the butterfly under the clear glass by his desk beside the window.
He has always been curious about normal animals, but butterflies are the ones he's most fascinated about. He loves how it looks so beautiful with their colorful wings, and such. And how then have so much freedom when they fly.
The only sad thing about them is that they only have so little time to live.
Draco stood up from his bed, and walked towards the butterfly. He opened the window, and let the butterfly out of the glass, and as expected, it flew out the window, flying freely. He wished he could do the same, he wished he could just go out freely without people giving him judging looks just because he fought with the wrong side.
He never wanted to do any of that.
But in just a few hours, he'll meet his bride to be, the person he'll spend the rest of his life with, the person he's bound to marry tomorrow. And even if he didn't want to, he'll do it for his parents- or mostly his mother. This is the only way to save the family name, as his father said.
Today was the rehearsal wedding, Draco didn't know why it was necessary, but there really was nothing he could do.
The blonde looked down at his stack of parchments on his desk, they were random words that somehow creates a story. He has never admitted it to anyone, but he liked to scribble out the words in his head, and he'll just notice that he created a story afterwards.
"Draco, we're leaving!"
At the voice of his mother, Draco let out a soft sigh, and grabbed his coat. He climbed down down the flight of stairs. He saw that his parents are already in their carriage that's being pulled by thestrals.
"Where is Draco!" Lucius mumbled to himself in an annoyed tone.
The young Malfoy went out the door, "I'm here, father," he said, and climbed inside the carriage.
Lucius just shook his head in disappointment, "Merlin, you look like a mess," he had said.
Narcissa just sighed, and fixed her son's tie, and after she was satisfied, she nodded to herself, and said, "Let's go, Lester."
The coachman then, started the carriage with coughs because of his pipe. The three Malfoys stayed quiet inside the moving cart, no one dared to speak, not even Narcissa. She felt bad having to make Draco marry someone just to save their family name, but she had no choice, it was Lucius' plan.
And so, Draco needed to marry the Greengrass' youngest daughter.
According to plan.
* * *
The Greengrass' manor wasn't that far from the Malfoy manor, which is why they arrived immediately.
But that doesn't mean they arrived early, in fact, they were almost late.
Narcissa once again fixed her son by straightening his suit, and fixing his messy hair, "Mother, I look fine," said Draco, giving his mother a small smile.
The old woman just looked at her son in awe, and said, "I just can't believe you're all grown up now."
She, then, faced the door, and as she was just about to knock, the door opened, showing the dark features of Astoria and Daphne Greengrass' parents. But that all broke when Mrs. Greengrass smiled as wide as she could- though it was pretty obvious that it was forced, "Well hello! What a pleasure, welcome to our home," she said.
Hello's were exchange, and finally, Mr. and Mrs. Greengrass led the Malfoys to their sitting room, but Draco stopped halfway by the foyer when he saw a grand piano.
Draco just couldn't help but tap a key. He has always been curious about muggle things, and back in Hogwarts, he used to read about them, he just doesn't let anyone know.
The blonde smiled to himself, hearing the high key of the piano, so in the end, he found himself sitting down on the seat, and going through the keys. Once he's heard all of the notes, he closed his eyes, and remembered this one piece he saw in the books.
He glided his fingers through the keys of the piano, and for a person who has never played it before, he holds some pretty good posture.
Meanwhile upstairs, while Daphne Greengrass was helping her one year younger sister with her hair, but they both stopped hearing the piano from the floor below.
Astoria couldn't help but furrow her eyebrows in confusion, "Since when did someone play the piano downstairs?" she asked with a soft laugh.
Her sister shrugged, and finally added the last clip on Astoria's hair, "Who ever they are, they're pretty talented," she said, and left the room, and towards her own.
The younger Greengrass stood from her seat, and slowly crept out of her room. She couldn't help but close her eyes to savor the lovely piano. She smiled to herself, and opened her eyes, slowly walking down the stairs.
Seeing the platinum blonde hair, she slightly blushed. She was a year younger than Draco Malfoy, and she had always had a crush on him, though she didn't really think much of it.
Astoria stopped behind the blonde, with her hands behind her in shyness, "You play really good."
At the sudden voice, Draco jumped, making the chair fall behind him. Her bright silver eyes were wide, but he immediately fixed his posture, and cleared his throat, "I apologize, that was very rude of me," he said a bit flustered, and fixed the chair.
The girl shook her head with a soft smile. She sat down on the chair, and looked at Draco, as if asking him to join her. Draco sat back down, a bit hesitant, but nevertheless, he gave her a small smile.
"The song- what's it called?" asked Astoria.
Draco gave a small shrug, "It's just something I came across."
Astoria nodded, and softly glided her fingers through the keys, "Mother never let me play the piano. She said that music isn't very.. Ladylike," she laughed. But even though she knows her mother's wishes, she still tap the keys slowly, playing a soft tune.
The blonde gave a small smile, and said, "So, Ms. Greengrass-"
"Please, call me Astoria," the girl said kindly.
Draco nodded, "Astoria, right. Well," he stopped, not knowing how to continue his sentence. He stood up, and paced back and forth, "We are to be.. Wed tomorrow," he said, his voice low. It even sounded more weird out loud, but it's true, he is about to get married tomorrow.
"Yes, we are," the girl said, and chuckled to herself, "I've dreamed about my wedding since I was a child. I always hoped to find someone I'm deeply in love with, someone to spend the rest of my life with."
For a moment, Draco stopped, and thought deeply. He was so focused to pleasing his father so much, that he never really thought about that topic.
Though it's too late to choose, now.
Astoria stood up, and walked towards Draco, stopping right in front of him, "Silly, isn't it?" she asked.
Draco looked into her eyes, they sparkled, but Draco didn't feel his own sparkle. He looked down, and shook his head, "Not at all."
The two were suddenly interrupted when the door to the sitting room busted open, and there walked out Mrs. Greengrass with a frown on her face.
"What is this?! You shouldn't be alone together!" she exclaimed, making the two look down, "Here it is, one minute before five, and you're not at the rehearsal! You might be late!"
Both Draco and Astoria mumbled an apology, and finally entered the sitting room.
And there, where the disaster happened.
