Rememberence
Lifeline's pov
After Error left, I took a shortcut to my house. I had already told Alphys and I had time before the kid got to Hotlands, so I sat down on the couch, thinking about that first run. The more I thought about it, the more the details came to me.
The first thing I remembered were their eyes. They were chocolate brown, always glimmering with DETERMINATION. I realized the brown under that red wasn't as bright. They hated this, both of them.
Then, I remembered their smile. They would smile whenever we were there for them, taking Toriel as their mother and representing us in front of the humans. Now, all they supported was a crazed grin as they looked for their next victim. When they broke through, the only expression I saw was of pain. This was hurting them both, down to the soul in fact!
As I remembered more, I came to realize that Chara was always there, but not as the violent demon I thought they were. Instead, they were a spirit who knew a lot about the Underground that was trying to help a small child. I sighed.
I'm sorry for blaming you, kid. I'll be better after all this.
And that's a promise.
Chara's pov
"Hey Frisk?" I said, making them look up. "Remember how we first met?" They started laughing. "Oh my Gods yes, I do! I felt a bit scared already after the narration through the Ruins, but seeing you when I fell asleep in mom's house was a shocker to me." "No duh! You screamed like a banshee! So glad we were in your mind, mom would've been worried." They nodded.
"Remember how the village became thanks to us before the RESET?" They then asked. I nodded with a nostalgic smile. "I visited from time to time, I was lucky enough to follow your success."
They tilted their head to the side. "Where WERE you though?" I smiled "I was with Error, a version of Sans that destroys unnecessary AUs to keep it from collapsing. He really likes us 'Fallen Ones' and-" suddenly, an idea struck me. "Do you think our little resistance had an impact on the multiverse?" I suddenly ask. They shrugged and I said "If it did, Error might be on his way." Their eyes filled with hope for the first time in a while. I smiled as we approached the bridge where we would see Undyne the Undying.
Please be coming, Error. For their sake.
