Prologue.
Emad.
"So if you agree to the conditions, that's when we will sign the marriage certificate plus the contract," I explained to Inaya about what we should do if she ever agrees to the conditions that I have laid out for her.
My son is the most important person in my life after my late wife's death, I couldn't imagine being married to someone else. And I have to do it to protect my son.
When my wife died, I lost the feeling of being or even falling in love but this isn't about me but the safety and future of my son.
Inaya looked over the list of terms and conditions that I have for her. She was the one who Yusuf thought was the best candidate.
Why?
In his words; "She hates you and she will be perfect for this. Plus, it will be a great help to her because of her current situation".
I didn't ask what situation Inaya had as it wasn't something that she would tell me when she hated me.
Inaya was perfect for the role of being a mother to my son and my wife in public.
Inaya also has the freedom to do anything she wants as long as she respects the contract and Islam.
After a long pause, Inaya looked at me with a confused look.
"I have a few questions?"
"Go on ask."
"It is about sharing a bed with you. How will that work?"
"It will be because of appearances for our families and the media. But don't worry, I know how to be a gentleman..."
"Just like you were to me," she whispered to herself not knowing that I already heard what she just said.
"What are the other questions?" I asked her.
"How long will the marriage last? And will I be able to go back to running my mother's coffee shop?"
What she said never crossed my mind. At that moment of writing the contract, I was thinking about the welfare of my son and never this question.
"When the media stops harassing us and as for going back to work, you can do that any time you wish but I will have to hire someone for you and Ehsan. To protect when you are alone or with him," I explained the best way I could.
I didn't know how long the media would let go of my life story. I never wanted my family to be public and to be harassed by people who just judge you without knowing you.
"Okay, I accept but with one condition. You dont need to give me money for any of my expenses. You can give money for Ehsan's expenses and only his," Inaya says.
This surprised me because I thought she would be one of those women who would want money in exchange for being in a marriage contract with me.
I could hear my best friend Yusuf whispering to me; "I told you so"
