Chapter-3 The Gift of Dark

Glory was confused, why would Darkstalker's gift be doing that. It was a simple crown that he had made for the new queen of the Rainwings and Nightwings. Darkstalker had gotten a random leaf and had turned into a beautiful yet elegant crown fit for a Rainwing queen. Even if Glory had been under a spell to trust and like him, it still didn't change how beautiful the crown looked to her. It was a simple design yet it look every inch as royal as Glory. It was designed to look like a golden vine holding a row of roses together. The flowers were tiny and exquisite. They were only three, but they were astonishing right down to the core. Not only were they made with great detail, but they also had something that Glory loved about them. Just like her scales, they changed color with her feelings. Darkstalker had told her that that she should only wear it when she had to.

Glory wondered why he had decided to give her a crown of all things. Maybe he had thought that she wasn't queenly enough.
She snorted and remembered how under the spell she had thought the gift as a nice gesture.
Why had she been so dumb!
"It was a spell calm down Glory" she muttered to herself. Darkstalker had obviously had pity for his tribe. A Rainwing for a queen!

How dare he!
I'm doing my best to be a queen who actually cares about the tribe and he only has pity!

Well, she was going to show how dangerous and powerful the Rainwings actually were. They weren't meant to be displays of beauty and criticized for being lazy. She was the new queen, and she was going to make sure they got the respect they should.

She took another look at the crown and wondered if she should put it on to go address the Nightwing village in the forest. Glory knew they were troubled and restless after the battle at Jade Mountain. She should, but she was tired, her wings were sore from not being stretched and her muscles were practically begging for a hammock to lie down on. Yet, she didn't want to be defenseless while the crown was glowing like if it was about to do something evil.

She carefully made her way to it and was about to touch it when her subconscious was screaming,

Stop!

It could hurt you!

But lucky her, she was too curious for her own good.

As soon as her claw made contact with one of the roses she let out a bloodcurdling scream that woke up the entire rainforest.

The crown had burned her severely.
Not only had it burned her whole talon, but it had also sent a tearing pain throughout her whole body.
Her vision was blurred and all she could think of was the pain. The only thing Glory could see was a white light everywhere. She heard distant flapping coming towards her way but she didn't pay it any attention.

I'm going to die.

It was a simple sentence that rang in her head without limit.
She thought of her friends and her kingdom that needed her too much right now. She was starting to feel dizzy and she fell to floor of her hut.Deathbringer. Would he be all right?

She knew the Nightwing was much more than her bodyguard. He was what was holding her together even after everything that had happened. Without him Glory would have succumbed to the pressure long ago. She constantly thought of what would have happened if he had decided to go the old Nightwing kingdom.

He would have fought for a supposed king that only wanted power and revenge. He could have died.

If he had, Glory knew she would have sent all her troops to kill Darkstalker and whoever had killed him. It wouldn't have mattered that he was indestructible. She would have found a way to make sure he hurt the way she would be hurting. Maybe Deathbringer would do something similar now that she was going to die.

That dragon never gives up...

That was her last thought as everything went black and she felt cool scales collide against her own.
