Guards awaited them at the entrance of the senkaimon. All captains and vice captains were greeted and asked about their trip. The vice captain Kotetsu wanted to quickly reach her barracks as no human had ever been to the soul society before, thus no one knew what would happen.

The captains each went back to their respective barracks except for Toshiro. He glanced at his sister before he shumpoed to the 1st squad for his report, as requested by the head captain. Later on, he went to check on Kim.

She was in a coma and had lost much blood. Toshiro was shocked at what he saw. Multiple tubes were connected to her body without forgetting the oxygen mask. Her skin was pale, her eyelids closed and her facial expression showed pain.

Toshiro sat next to her on a chair. He didn't know what to do, what to say. He blamed himself. He had been so glad to finally get one of his sisters back and had sworn to protect her but he had failed to even destroy a cello. Had he lost power or was he showing off at that moment, so much he only cared about the hollow and not about his sister.

Days passed and days he spent in the ward, praying for a miracle. The captain had told him that if he talked to her, she might wake up but everytime, he was at a loss for words. The commandor himself came to check on her various times during the day. Once Toshiro decided to ask him.

Toshiro: Without any disrespect, sir, is she that much of a trouble to your eyes? You don't even know her, so why do you keep visiting her. After all, for the soul society, she's just a troublemaker... If you don't mind me asking of course.

Head captain: I was awaiting this question of yours captain Toshiro Hitsugaya. I do not see her as a troublemaker. The reason I come to visit her is because she's my granddaughter from when I was alive. And yes, that makes you my grandson. I care about her like you do. If this gives you an answer. I'll leave her in your care for now. I have a meeting to attend to.

Toshiro was dumbfounded at what he had just heard. His head captain was his grandfather!!! Had he really heard well... Jumbled thoughts racing in his head, he leaned against a nearby wall, trying to arrange the puzzle in order. He tried with all his might to understand how he was related to the head captain but found nothing. His vice captain, rangiku arrived by his side to tell him about dinner. Seeing. His perplexed face, she asked.

"Captain, is everything alright? You seem to be doing the hardest maths calculation without a calculator in your head"

Toshiro exhaled and shook his head. "I don't get it" we're the only words he uttered without walking off. Rangiku followed, preferring not to ask any other questions.

The next days, Toshiro was perplexed but he came to see his sister. The head captain came too but none of them talked about being related since that day. The head captain noticed that the young captain was troubled by these thoughts but he was not the normal grandfather. He had his status and title, he had to keep them.

Toshiro kept holding the hand of Kim blaming himself. Everyone was losing hope and some even thought her soul was trapped because of her being in the soul society. But then, she proved them all wrong. She opened her eyes and looked around. Feeling her reiatsu, Toshiro rushed to the place and waited impatiently for the nurses to remove all the apparatuses connected to her. The captain of the squad said she still needed rest but she could go out.

Toshiro sent a report to the head captain asking him to allow Kim rest a bit before he talked to her. Upon receiving a rare positive answer, he brought her to his office and laid her on his couch. She had fallen asleep while he signed the discharge papers. She slept a few more days before waking up. Toshiro was glad to see her awake. She asked a ton of questions and he answered all of them with the help of Rangiku.

Kim then narrated to them what had happened to her while she was in coma. She told them about a vast meadow covered in ice and didn't forget the dragon winged wolf she had met. Toshiro concluded that she had met her zanpacto. He then explained to her about the reason she was in the soul Society. He did not tell her about her being the granddaughter of the head captain though.

The two shinigamis accompanied her to the doors of the first squad to finally meet the head captain. A guard then guided her towards the meeting room and left her there. He was there, standing right in the front, in his usual place. Kim felt a strong aura around him. There was an awkward silence until he decided to break it.

Yamamoto: I am the commander of the 13 squads here. I presume, you are related to the captain of the 10th squad...

Kim: Yes sir. I am Kim Hitsugaya... A weird human being...

Yamamoto: Why so you say weird?

Kim: Well in the human world, no one is able to see ghosts and so on, but I am. I've been attacked many times to understand that I'm not a normal human being... So that's why weird

Yamamoto: You have the power of a shinigami in you. You should be honored.

Kim: If being a shinigami means one has to be attacked by these hideous looking monsters all the time, then no I'm not honored. I don't want it... I want to live like a normal human, not like a shinigami!!!

Yamamoto: I cannot believe it. You were different before... Time really changes people I see. The little girl I knew was not like that at all...

Kim: what do you mean? Little girl...

Yamamoto : I see that you're not aware... I'm your grandfather.

Kim: WHAT!!! but how come?

Yamamoto: People who die... Their soul comes to the soul Society and lives another life in the rukongai. If that soul has reiatsu, it can become a shinigami and live in the seireitei. Then, the shinigami is trained to control his power and use a zanpacto in the shinigami academy before he or she is affiliated to a squad depending on his or her strengths and weaknesses. However, some humans sometimes possess shinigami powers even before they die. Some manifest those powers early, some die because their body cannot yield the power. Which is why I brought you to the soul Society. There's no way to remove a shinigami power from a human. You have been chosen and you have to accept it. When I died, I became a shinigami and now I'm the head captain of all the squads. You will be trained by me and some other shinigamis until you're able to control your powers.

Kim: (sighs)it's not like I can refuse now...

Yamamoto: Captain Hitsugaya will introduce you to the rest of the trainers. Rest for today, we will start tomorrow early in the morning.

With that said, he ended their meeting. The same guard escorted her outside where Toshiro was waiting.

Toshiro: I guess we'll go meet the others now.
