4. Dream and thought
Kalos region. This region is known for many things. Region of beauty, region of love, region of style, region of history. This region, like others, is populated by humans and pokemon, and like other regions, pokemon live together in harmony. Some become travel companions, some become a family they never had, some find their goals through mutual help.
And now a certain older boy is arriving in this region in order to move to the goal of becoming the gratest master of pokemon. But by the time the boy arrives, a honey-blonde hairy girl is waking up with a little surprise.
Serena POV
I had a dream as I was in the dark, but then I found a figure-like light. The figure reached out to me, and I accepted it, after which the great darkness became a star-studded sky, but the light of day had not yet come out. The light began to emanate, but instead of emanating from the horizon, it fell from the sky, like a shooting star, transforming everything dark into constant light. After it hit the ground, I headed for the figure. The figure did not glow, looking away, but when I reached the figure, the figure began to turn toward me. I wanted to knew the one, who can change dark in light, but before I could see the person who had come out of this light, I felt insane pain.
My head shot out of bed with a pungent pain on my forehead. I screamed, but I don't know if I was shocked of something that was happening every day or the pain I should be used to. I ran my hand over my forehead, where I felt a sharp pain. I looked to my left, where my mom's alarm clock was looking at me. Fletchling looked like he was annoyed to do this, which I wanted to laugh at first, because he does it every day, but then I got a new dose of anger in my body and I immediately did the thing as always. I jumped on Fletchling, hoping to catch him, because if I could catch him, I would do what I did to him last time, standing too close to my bed, so I took Fletchling to paint him all pink that lasted up to a week. Since then, he's been careful to keep his distance, and he seems to even watch every inch I grow up to be sure of the distance I can't reach. So, as always, I just fell out of bed and Fletchling just landed on my head with a laugh.
I sat down on the floor with my back against the bed with my head on the bed and looked at the ceiling, and in the meantime Fletchling had apparently flown into my mom's kitchen. I looked up at the ceiling and thought about the dream I had. If I have any dreams, it's mostly about him. This one was only the beginning as awareness of him. He reached out and I accepted his hand for help. I blushed a little at the thought of him but before I could think any further, I felt something lick my forehead where the robin pokemon had pecked me. I moved my eyes up from the ceiling and saw my partner looking worriedly at me.
Fennekin was my first and so far only pokemon. When I was ten, I went to Professor Sycamore in Lumios City for my first pokemon. At the time, I thought that having a Pokemon would help me discover something new. I discovered love for my pokemon, but I hoped to find something more. Then I came back here to Vaniville Town and continued my training to become a rhyhorn racer like my mother. My mom was the best rhyhorn racer, but then she stopped and just started training novices. She wanted me to start riding like her. I never somehow said no to that. I don't know why. I guess I felt bad to tell my mom that I wanted to do something else and I didn't want to hurt her feelings. My current dream is about to become the best rhyhorn racer probably if someone asked me. Fennekin has always supported me in everything I do, but I always think that when I chose her then she expected some bigger things from me.
"I'm fine. I was just thinking. Nothing happened, but thank you right away. It improved my mood." I said, facing Fennekin and stroking her head.
"Fen." Fennekin said with a smile.
"We'd rather go than my mom will come for us on her own, and I'd rather not want that." I said and walked to the door with Fennekin by my side.
When I went downstairs, I saw my mother in the kitchen apparently preparing lunch. My mom has brown short hair and has cerulean blue eyes that I have after her. She most often wears a black T-shirt and black pants and a sweater tied around her waist. I went downstairs and my mother immediately noticed my presence and turned to me.
"You've finally decided to wake up. I wonder when you'll learn to get up in time so I don't hear the morning scream." my mother said, serving me breakfast in the meantime.
"Maybe when we don't have to get up so early or when you get me an ordinary alarm clock." I said and started eating breakfast.
"To throw the alarm clock against the wall again like the last one? Then no. And you know very well that it is best to start training early in the morning. So either get used to one or the other. Well, get ready for today. I decided start a new way of training that you won't fail this time like last time." said my mother, looking at my training suit over the chair.
"Mom, it was a disaster last time. The Rhyhorn didn't even listen to me. Why do you think it'll be better this time?" I said, looking away.
"Because you weren't one. You have to do what I always told you. Be one with Rhyhorn." she said confidently.
I preferred not to answer further. These words again. Yes, I know that when we have one thought of the same thing, riding the rhyhorn is easier. That is the problem. During training I manage to do well, but during almost every race I felt like I had forgotten why I was there and I finished last. I didn't even finish in the last race because Rhyhorn got off me and ran away. I sighed and thought about a new thing that might have struck my mom about training. It couldn't be that bad, could it?
No POV
Meanwhile, in Lumiose City, a certain boy is just coming to the laboratory of a well-known professor. Not even to know, three figures were watching him.
"Finally back, as before. We're watching the twerp and planning to steal his pokemon. No more waiting." said the man with the blue hair.
"Yes, exactly. I don't understand how he could have disappeared for so long. We took a day off from watching the twerp, and the twerp and his Pikachu suddenly disappeared from the world." said a woman with long pink hair.
"But it was worth waiting at his house and looking out for him until he came back. But I guess we made the boss very angry with him, he didn't get new Pokémon from us for over a year." said the cat pokemon standing between them "But we have something new for boss."
"Yes. The mega evolution. If we got anything to do with and deliver it to the boss, it will make him to forgive us. We also know all things about it. We heard it all the day, when twerp talked about being more powerful." said the woman annoyed.
"Jessie, you can't blame him for talking about it. How would you behave if you were in his place?" the man asked Jessie.
"James stop acting like him. Plus there is no chance that I will appear in the same position." Jessie said to James and walked on and Meowth joined her. James joined them after a while.
Ash POV
I was really disappointed when Alexa told me that her sister wasn't right in the gym. But she said it had been a long time since she left and she should be back soon. At least I thought I would visit Professor Sycamore, who gave the starting pokemon and was the one who researched the most information about mega evolution. Then it occurred to me that I could go to the gym, which apparently is located in the Prism tower in the very center of Lumios city. According to what Alexa said, the last time she did news with the gym leader, he talked about resigning and being replaced by his son. I've always wondered how it can be a gym leader, but then I realized one thing. After all, I was already offered a similar position, although probably not the same. Become a Battle frontier brain. That's when I refused, saying that I wanted to travel. Just sitting and waiting for new challengers and not being able to get to know the world at the time seemed uncomfortable to me. Maybe I would accept it when I discovered the rest of the world or for some other reason, but even now I wouldn't accept it. Thinking about it now, I thought. What if someone becomes a gym leader but has no choice. Brock and Misty could travel with me because they had siblings or relatives who could replace them. But if someone had to become another successor to the gym leader and was not as lucky as May had, which Max would take over for her when Norman resigned, he must become a successor, even if he wanted to or not.
Lost in thought, I accidentally bumped into something. When I looked at the floor, I saw a boy with blond hair and big round glasses. He was wearing a blue tracksuit with yellow stripes and a fairly large backpack on his back. He looked frightened when we met our eyes. Before I could say anything, a little girl jumped up with an angry look. Like the boy, she had blond long hair. She wore a black short T-shirt with a white skirt and black shorts. She had a small yellow purse slung over her head.
"Look, what's your problem?! My brother went out of your way and you deliberately bumped into him." said the little girl with an angry look at me.
"Me?" I asked, pointing uncertainly at myself.
"Yeah you! People dare to do it on my brother on purpose, but in a moment like you now, when someone stands up for him, everyone doesn't know what to say next because they're just bastards like you. So what if you left right away like you came? " she said in a raised voice. At that moment, my head clicked when I realized what she meant.
"I'm so sorry. I was so much in my thoughts that I didn't notice where I was going." I said as I walked around the girl and reached out to help the boy to his feet. The boy looked at me in surprise, but then accepted my help and got to his feet. I probably overdid it a bit because the boy almost fell on me when I helped him get up from the ground.
"I apologize once again, and I apologize to you for this misunderstanding." I said, looking at the little girl, who was looking at me with wide eyes.
"Thank you." said the boy as he dusted himself off the dirt "I'm sorry too. My sister can be very protective of me sometimes when I meet people who look like you." said the boy, looking at his sister.
"What do you mean people who look like me?" I asked confused.
"You are like a mountain. My brother bumped into you and you looked like you didn't even realize you bumped into something. People of normal stature like you do it on purpose, as they want to show how they're better than my brother but when they finds out that my brother has someone to stand up for him, they turn out to be big cowards. So I thought you bumped into him like most others. I'm sorry. " the girl said, looking down.
"Don't apologize. It was my fault, and I'm sorry. I'm also sorry that this happens to you often. I would like to show people who do this where they belong." I said in disgust at the thought of the people doing this.
"Wow thanks." said the boy with a new smile "But I have to say that I would rather not have a problem with you." he added with a nervous laugh as he suddenly realized something "How rude of us. We didn't even introduce ourselves. My name is Clemont." he said, reaching out to shake my hand.
"My name is Bonnie." his sister joined.
"My name is Ash." I said, shaking hands with Clemont.
"Pika!" I suddenly heard Pikachu screaming and I realized why.
"And this is my buddy Pikachu." I said and stroking Pikachu's head apologetically.
"Eeee! He looks so cute. Could I cuddle with him please? Pretty please?" Bonnie shouted and asked with stars in her eyes.
"Sure." I said and Pikachu jumped into her hands "Pikachu is very nice. You just can't pull him by the tail or-" I didn't even answer and we were all hit by electricity from Pikachu "to squeeze him too much." I said in a cracked voice.
"Wow. I should have heard that before I did." Bonnie said as she fell to her back.
"Are you okay, Bonnie?" Clemont asked, looking at his sister with a worried look. "You shouldn't have done that, Bonnie. Imagine if someone did this to you." Clemont said with a slightly angry look at Bonnie.
"I'm sorry Pikachu." Bonnie said, looking sadly at Pikachu, who was still in her arms.
"Pika." Pikachu said sadly and began to lick Bonnie's cheeks.
"Hahahaha. It tickles." Bonnie said with a laugh.
"I think Pikachu apologizes too. Pikachu didn't do it on purpose. He just doesn't like it when someone squeezes him too much." I said towards Bonnie, who was still laughing.
"I see it." Clemont said with a smile.
Then I realized a thing I didn't realize a little when I left the airport. That I don't know where to go to professor Sycamore. "By the way, could you please tell me where I can find Professor Sycamore's lab?" I asked, scratching my nose.
"You're not from here, are you?" Bonnie asked with a smirk.
"No, I am not." I said with a nervous laugh, "I arrived today from my home, from the Kanto region."
"Wow, you've come a long way. That explains it, but why are you looking for professor Sycamore's lab?" Clemont asked questioningly.
"I wanted to ask him a few more questions about Mega Evolution before I go to the Gym here in Lumiose City." I replied, looking towards the high tower where the gym was to be located.
"If you arrived in Kalos only today, you won't get to the gym." said Clemont.
"What? Don't tell me the gym leader left too." I said, surprised and annoyed at the same time.
"No. The gym leader is in the stadium every day. You don't have to worry about that." Bonnie said strangely, what I wanted to ask first, but decided to let it be "Clemont means that if you haven't earned four badges in a few hours, you can't challenge a gym."
"Oh come on. Something every time. Either the gym leader isn't in the mood to fight, or he's not in the gym, or it's a psychopath who turns people into dolls." I said, grabbing my head angrily with my hands.
"WHAT?!" the siblings asked together. I probably shouldn't have talked about Sabrina, but nothing else occurred to me and it's not my fault. Try to forget how, after an absolute loss, the gym leader turns you into dolls and almost kills you.
"It's a long talk, and I really don't want to talk about it much right now. So could you tell me which way to go to the lab?" I asked the question with which this whole debate began.
"We just went to the lab too." Clemont said, looking at Bonnie.
"Then we can go there together." I said with a smile. After I said that, Bonnie started giggle wildly. "What's so funny?" I asked confused.
"I think she is giggling at the fact that we don't have to go together long. To tell you the truth, you are not new here in town, you didn't go far from the lab." Clemont said with a slight laugh.
"You mean we're close? Where's the lab?" I asked and began to look around.
"Ash, the lab is here." Bonnie said, grabbing my chin and turning my head to the left.
At first I didn't want to believe it, but when I took a good look at the building, it was clear to me that it was a laboratory. It was a long, tall building with lots of satellites on the roof. At the entrance gate on both sides of the stone pokeballs. I don't know what came more crazy. Either the fact that I was used to laboratories more out of town or the fact that I got to the laboratory without knowing where it was. I just went and I didn't even know where. I just let my feet go where they wanted and I came here as if they knew exactly where.
"As my older brother says, you came here very early for the first time." Bonnie said with a laugh.
"Yeah ... it surprises me, too." I said, stunned.
"So are we going in or not?" Bonnie said as she was almost at the front door.
"Sure, what about you Ash? Are you going?" Clemont asked.
"Of course." I answered and went after them.
When Bonnie enthusiastically opened the door, we entered the entrance hall, which was large, and directly opposite the entrance was a large double-sided staircase. Right next to the stairs were libraries full of books.
"Clemont, I didn't even ask what you needed from professor Sycamore." I asked Clemont, who was standing next to me.
"Well-" he began, but didn't even have time to finish as a man in a cloak with black hair entered from one of the side corridors.
"Aaah Clemont, what a nice surprise. I didn't expect you to come. And hello to you, too, Bonnie." said the man in the cloak toward the siblings.
"Greetings, professor Sycamore." said both siblings to the man at once. So this is professor Sycamore. Good to know now before I ask who it is.
"And who are you, young man?" the professor asked in my direction.
"My name is Ash Ketchum professor. And this is my buddy Pikachu." I said politely, pointing to my shoulder.
"Pika pi." Pikachu said cheerfully.
"Ketchum?" the professor asked.
"Yes, professor. Ash Ketchum." I repeated.
The professor thought for a moment, but before I could ask about anything, Sycamore suddenly smiled and held out his hand. "I'm very pleased. I'm professor Augustine Sycamore, and welcome to my lab." he said cheerfully.
"Nice to meet you, sir." I said, shaking hands with the professor.
"So what can I be grateful for such a visit?" the professor asked, looking at us all.
"I wanted to ask you some information about Mega Evolution." I said first to the professor.
"Okay, but I'd rather sit down and have some tea. There's a lot of information about Mega evolution. What about you two?" he asked toward Bonnie and Clemont.
"I needed to ask you a favor. I'm having a little trouble right now, and I need to ask if you have a pokemon I can take." Clemont asked uncertainly.
"I'm not sure about it Clemont, but maybe I will find a pokemon. You can join us while Ash and I discuss a few things about his question. If you want Bonnie, you can go play with the pokemon I have in the inner garden as usual. " said Sycamore, pointing to the corridor he had just come from.
"Yay!" Bonnie shouted, running in the direction the professor had pointed.
We followed Bonnie to the glass door, which she happily opened and ran into a fairly large garden. When I looked at the pokemon moving here, I saw the whole Azumarill evolution line, some Caterpie, Weedle and Combee, and if I took the job I would see many more. Then an idea occurred to me.
"Professor, would it be possible if I could release one of my Pokemon here for a moment?" I asked the professor.
"Sure Ash. What do you have?" the professor asked, looking towards my pokeball belt.
"I just want this one. Come out!" I shouted and threw the pokeball into the air, where it opened and released the light from which Teddiursa formed.
"Tedi?" little bear like pokemon asked towards me.
"We're already in Kalos Teddiursa and now we're in professor Sycamore's garden, so I thought you might play here before we leave again." I said to Teddiursa and looked around at the pokemon.
"Ursa" shouted with enthusiasm and ran towards the other pokemon. He paused for a moment at Bonnie, who looked at him excitedly. For a moment I was afraid he would startle and run to me, but the thing that surprised me was that instead of what I thought, he ran to Bonnie and they both started cuddling. I was quite surprised. Maybe Teddiursa is more afraid of bigger people, or maybe it's because Bonnie is the soul of a child like Teddiursa.
"Ash you have such a cute Pokemon. I wish I had one." Bonnie shouted at me and continued with the pokemon.
"What about your third pokemon Ash?" Sycamore asked, surprising me a little, because I had no idea he would notice the third pokeball.
"I think it'll be better if he doesn't join them. I have him because of the crisis, and he doesn't need it so badly." I said towards the professor as we headed back inside to pour ourself some tea.
"Okay. What about you, Clemont, will you join?" said the professor to Clemont, who just shook his head.
"I'd better keep an eye on my sister if anything happens." he said, looking at Bonnie again.
"If you say so. Shall we go?" the professor asked me this time. I just nodded, "By the way, what did you mean by the crisis?"
"I'd rather avoid thinking about it at all. Simply put, if something happened." I said, looking down the hall. Suddenly, from around the corner, Garchomp came across from us and walked towards the garden. "Wow, Garchomp. Is this yours Garchomp?" I asked as I looked behind me as Garchomp walked through the glass door to the garden.
"Yes, it's mine, I found it in my lab once. He's helping me here in the lab with a pokemon. By the way, to your question, Garchomp is one of many who can mega evolve." said the professor in a tone, by the way.
"Wow... You know who all pokemon can Mega evolve?" I asked with new interest and we entered a room with armchairs and a small bar.
"I don't know all. I know the ones I have met and seen. I'd like to ask you what you know about mega evolution so far?" he asked and poured me tea.
-----------------------
Professor Sycamore told me everything I could learn and there was a lot. One of the things that disappointed me was that mega evolutions can only achieve the last evolution of pokemon, so my chances of mega evolution of Pikachu immediately fell. One thing that bothered me a little was that the professor had asked me about my name before, and when I mentioned that I got most of the information from professor Oak and Gary Oak, he smiled for some reason. Maybe I was just skeptical, but you never know. Currently, the only question I could think of on this topic.
"Professor, you're talking about connection through stones and strong bond, but is there any possibility of mega evolution without stones?"
"That's the question I'm trying to find out, Ash. Have you heard of the battle in the Hoenn region that happened a year ago?" Sycamore asked, sipping his tea.
"No, I haven't. To tell you the truth, I know almost nothing that has happened in the last year." I said, scratching my head "I've been out of all the news for the last year."
"Then you should find out, because there was another duel between Groudon and Kyogre in the Hoenn region. But this time it was much more dangerous." Sycamore said, walking over to the computer.
"What happened?" I asked in surprise. I thought the orbs to control were safe.
"High energy appeared in the middle of the ocean, which seemed to radiate mega evolution. And apparently they wanted to get it. There is talk of the same reason they wanted to change the shape of the earth as they did a few years ago. Before their clash, however, they transformed into new forms that resembled mega evolution in energy. After a little research, however, I discovered that these forms were very ancient and seemed to date back to a time when the planet was constantly changing, probably due to these new forms. I decided to call this new mega evolution Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre." said the professor and push few buttons on computer after that showing many photos were. Most of them were blurred, but some showed in the distance both legendary pokemon, which looked different and shone incredibly.
"What stopped them in the fight?" I asked interestingly, because something had to stop them.
"There is unconfirmed information about the team that was trying to fight them. But the main thing that stopped them was this." said the professor and another photo was displayed. It was Rayquaza, but as a primal duo, it had a different form "It's Mega Rayquaza."
"How is that possible? I thought mega evolution only came with stones." I asked in surprise.
"My theory is that some pokemon can unlock such power that they can evade mega. But I haven't found any more information to confirm that, and the only evidence I have is Mega Rayquaza. Then it occurred to me that there was a chance that only for the legendary pokemon can be obtained. " Sycamore said, frowning.
"And that still doesn't quite answer my question. So is it possible to use mega evolution without stones?" I asked.
Unfortunately, before he could answer, a woman in a cloak came and looked sad.
"Professor, he's back." she said sadly.
"Did he run away again or return?" the professor asked the woman.
"He was brought back. Fortunately, she just picked Fennekin." said the woman.
"Thanks Sophie." said the professor disappointed and a woman named Sophie left again. I wondered what or who they were talking about.
"I'm sorry to ask, but who were you talking about?" I asked confused.
"As you know, one of my main tasks is to give new trainers a pokemon." said the professor, and I nodded. "I usually always give the classic trio: Fennekin, Chespin, and Froakie. Unfortunately, I have problems with one Froakie now."
"What do you mean problems?" I asked confused.
"Ever since I got this, Froakie keeps coming back to me. It always looks similar. A new trainer comes in and I offer him all three, chooses Froakie, and then the same day or the day after, either the trainer comes back and returns Froakie or Froakie comes back on himself and the trainer will then come just to return the pokeball and ask for a new one." said the professor sadly.
"Why is he coming back?" I asked in surprise.
"Because always at the first battles, Froakie stops listening completely and starts fighting for himself. And it's not because he doesn't like to fight, because I've seen him train here a lot several times." said the Professor, looking down the hall.
"May I ask if you don't know where he usually goes when he always returns?" I asked.
"Usually he always goes to Garchomp. They like to look after each other. Why do you ask?" the professor asked questioningly.
"I want to look at him. I would like to try talking to him." I said on the way back to the garden.
When I walked back into the garden, I saw Bonnie still playing with my partners, and Clemont was sitting on a bench drawing on something. When I looked more, I saw Garchomp looking down at a small pokemon. It was a pokemon that looked like a frog. It was blue and had a white cloth around his neck that looked like a scarf.
When I reached them they both looked at me. Garchomp growled at me, and Froakie looked annoyed. I realized they thought I was trying to do something. I walked over to Garchomp and put my hand on his forehead.
"Don't worry Garchomp. I just want to talk to Froakie for a while." I said in a calm voice and stroked Garchomp's forehead.
Garchomp stared at me uncertainly for a moment, then walked back inside, probably to see the professor. I turned and crouched toward Froakie. He tried to look emotionless, but I could see that he was surprised in his eyes.
"The professor told me about your problems." I said and Froakie just looked away. I just chuckled and looked at Bonnie, who was tickling Teddiursa "The professor may not have noticed, but I've come across something like that before. Everyone talks about choosing their pokemon, and I'm not surprised because the pokemon is looking forward to new faces. But you don't want them to choose you because you're scared. You are afraid that there will be trainers who will leave you if the worst happens, which is why you keep running, because you know it will turn out the same way, that the moment you don't listen to them they will leave you and not try for more. That's why you keep coming back here, because you're waiting for you to choose a trainer who will be worth it." I looked back at Froakie, who was looking at me with wide eyes and his mouth wide open. I just chuckled and looked around the garden and noticed that there was a small battlefield behind the lake.
"Hey Clemont!" I shouted at Clemont, who jerked a little and looked at me. "If I don't have the first match at the stadium, I wish I had the first battle with you. After all, you helped me and I'd like to have a battle with a friend, and if I'm not mistaken, I saw pokeball at you. So what do you say? "
Clemont looked at Bonnie for a moment, who looked excited at the idea, and then at me with the determination, "It would be a pleasure," he said casually and smiled at accepted challenge.
