Serena POV

"I can already see the pokemon center." I shouted as I held on to my hat to keep from flying away.

I have been traveling with Ash for a few weeks now, and I have to say that I have never felt so alive in my life as with him. As Bonnie herself says, traveling with him is still in adventure. A few hours ago, we broke up with our new friend Sanpei, who was a ninja. I didn't even know that the ninjas were in Kalos, but that's the thing they can do to hide to look like they don't exist. When we parted with him, it began to get dark and clouds began to form from which it started to rain, so now we run to the center.

I was almost running into the pokemon center when I heard an explosion behind me in the woods and I wasn't the only one because Ash looked in the same direction. Bonnie looked at Clemont, who was slowly catching his breath again.

"What was that?" I asked Ash, who was looking in the direction of the blast.

"I don't know, I will go find out, you go to the pokemon center. I'll be back as soon as I find out what it was." Ash said and disappeared into the woods before I could say anything. I just sighed and walked with the others to the center, where Nurse Joy was already behind the counter with towels.

"Another today. Take towels and dry yourself." Joy said with smile pointing to towels.

"Thank you." we all said with pleasure and took the offered towels.

"Would you like to book a rooms?" Joy asked.

"Yes, two rooms with two beds." Clemont said as he wiped the water off his glasses.

"But there are only three of you. Do you miss anyone?" Nurse Joy asked, looking at us in confusion.

"Our friend, Ash, stayed behind. We heard an explosion before we arrived, so he ran to check it out." Bonnie said, pointing to the door that had just closed.

"Perhaps he should be careful." Joy said, surprising me.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You know, this area is quite famous for a lot of bug pokemon flying here once a year, and tomorrow will be another day. People started to call these days Papillons day." said Joy, pressing a few buttons that showed a landscape that shimmered beautifully, and there were a lot of pokemon in the sky. "Pokemon who stays in the same places as Beedrill or Combee doesn't take part in this day."

"That still doesn't explain why Ash should be careful." I said with a lack of understanding of her words.

"With so many different pokemons and Spewpa, that come here to evolve on this day, meeting here, poachers show up. Officer Jenny has caught most of them, but some poachers are often here, and even though Officer Jenny tries to stop them, she is always defeated by them and she always just watches them always leave and she can't stop them. " Joy said sadly. "She got one more cousin to help this year, but according to what she said, if she didn't get even more help, they won't be able to do anything, and neither of officer Jenny came back today. "

"So what you are trying to tell us -" I said anxiously where she was going.

"The explosion was apparently a duel in which Jenny fought." Bonnie finished for me because I didn't want to go on with sentence.

"Exactly." Joy said, looking behind us toward the door, hoping it would open and Jenny was in it.

"We have to go help Ash." I said, and I was about to run to the door when there was thunder outside, which stopped me on my way.

"I think it will be safe for you if you stay here. It always rains like this before Papillions day, and usually these rains don't stop until the next day." said Joy, giving Clemont the keys to our rooms.

"But we can't leave Ash and Jenny alone." Bonnie said, wanting to run outside when Clemont lifted her into the air with his robotic arm. "Clemont let me go, we have to go help Ash."

"No Bonnie. It's not safe outside right now." said Clemont.

"We can't leave them there if we have the opportunity to help." I joined Bonnie.

"Believe me, I'd like to go help too, but we don't even know where to go, and I'm sure Ash would like us to stay safe."

"Your friend is right." Joy joined Clemont. "Jenny can handle it and maybe they will work with your friend so nothing happens to them."

I wanted to say something about it again when I noticed that Bonnie didn't seem to want to say anything anymore and rather looked at me to reassure me. "I guess they are right, Serena, after all, Ash can surprise." said Bonnie, and in the end I just took one of the keys to Clemont, sat down on the couch, dried my hair.

It's been about half an hour since we came to the center. Ash or one of Jenny hasn't returned yet. Clemont is now making another device that will probably blow up. Bonnie was playing with Dedenne, but somehow I couldn't make myself think of something else. I let Fennekin out so I could brush her fur, but it still didn't distract me from looking out the window, hoping to see someone. I stroked Fennekin and stared at the empty police car when I suddenly noticed many figures coming out of the woods in dark. One was larger than the others and went straight to the entrance with other figure. The others stopped at the car and I immediately hoped for the best. And to my excitement, it was true, because Ash had just entered the door. Before I could say anything, I noticed that Ash was carrying someone in his arms.

"Nurse Joy, I need help here!" Ash said and Joy ran out of the counter and gasped. When I noticed who Ash was carrying in my hands, I gasped for breath. It was one of Jenny's officers, unconscious.

"What happened?" Nurse Joy asked, looking on Jenny.

"I found her unconscious. Her cousin said that she lost conscious after small explosion in battle." Ash said and after that, Wigglytuff came out from door behind counter with stretcher.

"She will be probably ok, but I will still check on her. Lay her here." Joy sayd pointing to stretcher, where Ash laid her and Wigglytuff took her away.

"I also brought a group of  wounded Spewpa." said Ash and laid down Jenny and Wigglytuff

"And where are they?" nurse Joy asked looking around Ash."

"My partner carries them behind me." Ash said, pointing behind him where I looked expecting to see the Kroocodile, but instead I saw a huge green pokemon with a tree on its back.

"Tor." pokemon said and knelt down and then I saw him carrying a pile of pokemon on his back.

"I will take care of them right away." said Joy and Wigglytuff arrived with a bigger stretcher, where Clemont, Bonnie and I all loaded all the wounded pokemon, and then she left with the cart behind the sliding door.

"Ash, what happened?" Clemont asked Ash, who recalled his pokemon so that second officer Jenny would appear right behind dissepeared pokemon.

"Your friend saved our skins and helped catch the poachers, that's what he did." said Officer Jenny, who came in from the rain. "I have to go now. I don't want to risk losing these bastards that I was trying to capture so long. My cousin will probably wake up soon, and thank you, Ash, for your help."

"I'm always happy to help." Ash said with a toothy smile.

"I'm glad. You are lucky to have a friend like that, that kind of help would come in handy." Jenny said and walked towards the car leaving us alone.

"So, how did you rest?" Ash asked, apparently hoping avoid our questions.

"What happened Ash?" I asked in a raised voice. "We were worried about you."

"Someone more than the others." Bonnie said with a smirk and nudged me, making me begin to blush.

"I'm fine and I'm sorry Serena, if I made you worried so much. I'm sorry." Ash said hopefully to relieve me, but it's completely opposite. The fact that sometimes he cares about how I feel makes me even more embarrassed.

"Y-yeah, it's ok." I said, covering my face with my hair so Ash wouldn't notice my redness.

"So what happened?" Clemont asked, fortunately diverting attention back to Ash.

"What would I say?" Ash said, taking a towel from the counter and starting to dry. "After I separated from you, I arrived on the battlefield. Jenny, who I brought, had just lost consciousness and all of their pokemon could no longer fight. The poachers were loaded with a few pokemon when I ran there, so I just stopped them. " Ash said calmly

"You just stopped them? Do you know, what nurse Joy told us about them?" I said suprised how casually he told about it.

"They are poachers. They're always dangerous, they just had a slightly stronger pokemon like a pair of Rhyperiors. They probably had them mainly because Jenny mainly uses Manectric here."

"But how could you be sure you would beat them?" Clemont asked with a question that I wanted ask too.

"I hate poachers. So whenever I have the opportunity to help stop them, I don't hesitate. And I know two things over the years that I learned. One thing is, when I always met these people, that they used pokemon only as an object, so their pokemon doesn't fight at all costs, at most out of the fear of their masters and that is why I always win, because my pokemon fights at all costs. " Ash said, looking at Pikachu, who just nodded.

"What was that pokemon who came with you before? It was huge and I wanted to crawl on him." Bonnie said with the stars in her eyes.

"That was Torterra. The Pokemon I have from Sinnoh." Ash said, and I wondered for a moment how long he had it.

"Ash?" I asked, and Ash turned to me, "Did you swaped Krookodile?"

"Yes, but it was a few days, since I swapped him." Ash said and when I thought about it, it made sense. Ash often gets up early to train with his pokemon. Krookodile, when he was out with us from time to time, always stayed away, or Ash put him back in pokeball.

"Ooh, I didn't even get to know him properly." Bonnie said, disappointed, which surprised me because sometimes Krookodile managed to scare me.

"Bonnie, you know that Krookodile never really liked attention." Ash said, leaning over Bonnie.

"But I'm sure I could be a great friend with him." said Bonnie and pouted. Ash looked like he knew how Bonnie was feeling and smiled.

"You can try to meet my other pokemon like that. I plan to replace the pokemon like this after a few weeks." Ash said and Bonnie immediately changed to give a new smile, but then, as always, she began to collapse due to tiredness.

"I will take Bonnie back to your room. I will go to my room too, good night Serena." Clemont said, taking Bonnie by robotic arm and walking upstairs, leaving me and Ash alone.

"Serena, I have wanted to ask you about one thing for a long time." Ash said. I don't know why, but I felt nervous. If it was from the fact that there were only two of us there or a question he wanted to ask me.

"On w-what did you wanted to ask me?" I asked nervously.

"What made you start traveling?" Ash asked. A question I never wanted to answer, especially him.

"You know, I left because I had a problem with my hobby." I told him the truth, but not the part, saying that I had start my travel that he could help me.

"Oh? And what hobby you had problems with?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I am ridding on Rhyhorn. It's races ridding on Rhyhorn. Here in Kalos it's quite popular and my mother was one of the best Rhyhorn racers here in Kalos. So when I was old enough, she started to train me, how to ride on Rhyhorn."

"Oh, that sounds great. I bet you have to do great, like other things like baking." Ash said, blushing a little, but she got rid of it right away, because he was wrong about it.

"That's the problem. I'm not good at it. One of the reasons you helped me at camp helped me with training. But when I'm at the races, I should be right, as my mom says," Be one with Rhyhorn. "" I said, suggesting in quotation marks.

"Whatever the reason, I'm sure you will find out. And also, I'm here to help or talk at any time you know." Ash said, apparently placing his hand on my shoulder for reassurance.

"Thanks Ash, you always help us or the others." I said pleased by his words.

"I will always help those who need it and deserve it." Ash said, scratching his finger under his nose.

"I know that already." I said and headed towards my room and Bonnie's when I remembered what Ash had said before. "Ash?"

"Yeah?"

"What was the second thing you learned from your traveling?" I asked and Ash just grinned.

"The bad side never really win." Ash said and fist pumped as always, when he is fired up.

After a stormy night, I woke up in the morning with the pleasant air coming from outside. I heard sounds in the bathroom, which confirmed to me that Bonnie was awake and we were going to have breakfast in a moment.

"So you can't take them there?"

"No, and that's why I'm asking you to take them there." said a voice that reminded me of Officer Jenny.

"I won't mind, and I think my friends too, I will just ask them, but why can't you take them?" I heard and walked into the dining room where Ash was sitting across from Jenny.

"I don't have a vehicle to take them there quickly, because I have to go to an abandoned power plant, where weird things seem to be happening, and I have to find out what it is." said Officer Jenny, noticing our presence. "I think you can ask your friends now. Good morning, by the way."

"Good morning." Bonnie and I said together.

"Girls, you know how I brought the wounded Spewpa ayesterday, so Officer Jenny would need us to take them to the area where Papillons day is supposed to be. She would need us to keep an eye on them before they evolve, which should be at the end of the day. Would you mind if we went there? "

"See a lot of beautiful bug pokemon in one day. Count on me." Bonnie said excitedly.

"Then you better not tell my friend Misty. She can't even see bug pokemon." Ash said with a slight chuckle and then looked at me. "What about you, Serena? Would you mind? We'll probably have to camp there."

"I'm fine with that." Camping. When we had to camp on the first day, it was a bit awkward because I didn't pack my camping stuff. Fortunately, Bonnie's tent is big enough for two people, and Clmeont allowed me to take his spare sleeping bag. After those few campings, I got used to it and if the weather is nice, I enjoy it.

"Nice. Then we'll ask Clemont, but he'll probably be fine with it. So we'll take them there today, Jenny."

"Thank you Ash, we are very grateful to you all yesterday and today. So good luck and I'm going to find out about the problems at the power plant. Goodbye." said Jenny, who got up and left for the exit.

I waited with Bonnie and Clemont for Ash to show up with Nurse Joy. I thought to myself that if we went to something as beautiful as Joy showed us, I want Fennekin to be there, so I let Fennekin out and now I just hold her in my arms and look at the door. After a moment, the door opened and Ash walked out with Joy, who had several Spewpa on the cart.

"Ash, I hope you have plan, how to take them." Clemont said looking on Spewpa.

"Don't worry about it. I will do it as yesterday. Come out!" Ash shouted and trew his pokeball and next to us appeared same pokemon as yesterday came with Ash. This time I could have better look at Torterra. It was huge and, as I noticed yesterday, it had a tree on its back. What I didn't notice was that he had a few spikes on the sides of his head and on the back of his body. As I looked at his whole body, I noticed that there were acorns in the tree.

"It so huge." Bonnie said and ran to side of side and started climbing on Torterra.

"Bonnie don't climb on Torterra." Clemont said and I looked at Clemont, who wanted to go Bonnie, but was stop by Ash who was just smilling.

"Torterra is used to bigger weight." Ash said looking to Torterra, who nodded to him. "Besides Bonnie can help us put them there." Ash said and looked at me and I nodded with agreement.

We started to load Spewpa on Torterra, who kneeled a little so it wouldn't be too high for us, when Ash's pokeball opened again and Riolu come out.

"Ri?" Riolu looked at us confused, what we were doing.

"Oh hey Riolu, wanna help?" I said to Riolu, who just smiled at me. After our meeting on ferry, Riolu with us he was much happier, calmer and often jumps out of pokeball on his own.

"We will see if Team Rocket will try anything today , when we have with us a huge pokemon like this." Bonnie said excitedly. From what Ash had said, from his past meetings with Team Rocket, we were now being attacked more often than usual. In fact, he himself mentioned that they were trying to do anything just to get Pikachu and Riolu. But as Bonnie says, I'm not sure if they will try anything against Torterra. With Riolu's help, we get all Spewpa on Torterra's back and there was still place left.

"This is for me and Jenny big help from you. Thank you." Joy said to us with bow.

"It is no problem for us. Also as you said, I want to see, how beautiful, then I think we will be happy to see it." Ash said with smile to Joy and I had to agree. It looked really good on those pictures.

"Let's go guys." I said cheerfully.

"Before we go, could you let out your pokemon Ash?" Bonnie asked.

"You wanna play with Teddiursa?" I asked with smirk.

"No I wanna play with all of them." Bonnie said and pouted at my comment.

"Sure Bonnie, I think they all wanna go out anyway." Ash said and trew his pokeballs. For all those battles, that Ash had and training new pokemon, I figure out, that Ash had a lot of experiences with new caught pokemon. He could always work with them without problems. I looked down to Fennekin, who really enjoyed to play with Ash's pokemon, and jumped to them.

"So, are we ready to go?" Clemont asked looking at us.

"I think we are. So let's go." Ash said we started to walk, except Bonnie, who was on Torterra. When Torterra started to walk, startle a little, because it was a loud stomping, which sometimes shook the ground.

We reached the area where Joy sent us. It was on the edge of a cliff. It was visible towards the mountains, behind which the sun was already setting, and it reflected the remnants of yesterday's rain. The view was beautiful and falling asleep will be great.

"I will start making dinner." said Clemont, who was taking all his things out of his backpack.

"I think you should wait with that." Ash said making me confused.

"Why Ash?" I asked looking at Ash, noticing what he was talking about. All Spewpa started to glow.

"Wow, they are evolving." Bonnie said excited looking at them. After they stopped glowing, they changed into Vivillon. Most of them looked differently from one we saw in Santalune city. They flew happily above us and then landed back on Torterra and started to it's acorns.

"We are lucky, that Torterra's tree has those acorns, because I am not sure if I had so many pokemon food. Torterra is fascinating pokemon I must say. It's buddy is adapted to be like part of nature." Clemont said with a raised finger. Quite often some of the information he gave us was quite useful I must say.

During dinner, a few other people came to join in. I was already planning to serve pokepuffs when I noticed a lot of shadows and I wasn't the only one. We all looked towards the mountains and from them tons of pokemon flew. The Vivillons who were on Torterra took off and flew toward them.

"It's starting." I heared woman said and it looked like really did.

It looked so amazing. There were a lot of pokemon I didn't know, but they all looked beautiful. They seemed to fly in the rain, too, as they all reflected off the sun, but it just looked much more beautiful. Some released pollen and even better. I looked away from the view for a moment to look at the others. Bonnie watched them with enthusiasm, Clemont with her. Ash just smiled and watched them all, occasionally his eyes widened.

"Ash, do you know all these pokemon?" I asked. Ash looked at me with the same smile.

"I know most." he said, and Bonnie ran to him immediately.

"Can you tell me what their names are? Please, please." Bonnie said with dog eyes, what I just laughed at.

"Of course yes." Ash said and then looked at all the pokemon uncertainly. "Just how to start."

"What about tell their names, how you across them so far." I said and Ash looked at me with toothy grin.

"That's great idea Serena." Ash said and looked again at them. He pointed to one with most purple body that looked familiar to me. "Those are Butterfree and Venomoth. They are most common in Kanto."

"So you had to see them a lot, when you are from Kanto." Bonnie said with smile.

"Yes, they are." Ash said and pointed to red pokemon with black marks. "Those are Ledyba and Ledian. They are most common in Johto." Ash said and pointed to next one. "Those are Beautifly and Dustox and oh even Masquerain are here. They are from Hoenn region."

"They look so pretty so far and that's not even all." Bonnie shouted with stars in her eyes and I had to agree.¨

"By the way Beautifly and Dustox are pokemon with same starting form and that is Wurmple." Clemont added and I looked suprised, because they didn's look so familiar to each other.

"How is that?" I asked looking at them.

"After they evolve from Wurmple, they can evolve in Silcoon or Cascoon and those after that evolve into Beautifly and Dustox. It's almost impossible to tell in advance if it will evolve into Silcoon or Cascoon, because it is often quite a coincidence."

"I agree, my friend May and Jessie from Team Rocket had Wurmple. But only May got Beautifly from Silcoon and Jessie got Dustox from Cascoon." Ash added and then started to point at next pokemon with orange wings. "Those are Mothim. They are most common in Sinnoh. Which they also evolve into Mothim only, if they are male. If they are female, they evolve from Burmy to Wormadam." Ash added.

"And how do you know, if they are males?" I asked with raised eyebrows.

"I don't know. You can asked them." Ash said with slight chuckle and I with Bonnie giggled aswell.

Ash then pointed to big white with orange wings. "Those are Volcarona. They are most common in Unova.

"And what are these?" Bonnie asked, pointing to the small pokemon, with small wings and yellow bodies.

"I don't know, I didn't see them yet." Ash said and scratched his head.

"These are Cutiefly and Ribombee." I heared behind me so I turned around to see tanned girl with green hair looking at us.

"And where are they from?" I asked her.

"They are from Alola islands like me." she said with smile.

"Oh I heared about those islands." Clemont said behind me to girl. "They are really popular for tourism."

"Yes, they are, that is one of the reasons I left, I am cooking a lot so I am traveling around world to find the best recipes."

"Oh that sound nice." Ash joined to us in conversion. "Hello, my name is Ash and this is my partner Pikachu and behind us are my pokemon." Ash said and pointed behind us.

"Alola or hello how it is everywhere. My name is Mallow."

As we introduced ourselves, I felt a little cold and looked over us to see a white pokemon.

"Mallow, do you know these pokemon?" I asked, but Mallow just shook her head.

"No. I've never seen them before. Have you seen them, Ash?" she asked, who also just shook his head. So I just pulled out a pokedex.

"Frosmoth, Frost Moth Pokémon. Icy scales fall from its wings like snow as it flies over fields and mountains. The temperature of its wings is less than −290 degrees Fahrenheit."

"It says here they come from the Galar region." I said and put my pokedex back. Ash had his back to the cliff when I noticed a Butterfree flying to us. Before I could say anything, one of Butterfree landed on Ash's head. I giggled a little because it looked nice and funny at the same time and Mallow and Bonnie probably had the same opinion. Ash just looked at him blankly, and Butterfree, who landed on him, fell asleep? Ash just laughed and we just looked at him blankly. Then I noticed another Butterfree, wearing a yellow ribbon tied that was already torn and dirty. Butterfree flew next to this one, which was pink.

"Ash, why are you laughing?" Bonnie asked.

"And there are two other Butterfree, one with a yellow ribbon and one that is pink." I said before answering his question. Immediately after, he got stuck with the answer and looked behind him.

"Well, that's something." Ash said bluntly.

"Ash, why are these Butterfree here?" Mallow asked.

"I am happy, that you are doing fine." Ash said, ignoring question, and Butterfree took Ash's hand in its. "You too." he added and pet Butterfree on his head. Buterfree on Ash's head has woken up and flew of his head and started to play with Pikachu.

"Ash, do you know these Butterfree?" I asked and Ash finaly looked at us.

"This Butterfree, with yellow ribbon, was my. My first caught pokemon." Ash said with smile and looked at Butterfree.

"But why it is here and not with you?" Bonnie said.

"Because I released him." Ash said making me surprise.

"Did you released him, because wasn't strong enough?" Mallow asked, but that wasn't for sure the reason he released Butterfree.

"Ash is the last trainer on the whole world, who would relaese pokemon like this. He isn't trainer to do something like this." I said, not believing would Ash do this. Mallow looked at me with suprised look, probably my I said it bad.

"Serena is right. I didn't release Butterfree for this reason." Ash said and I sighed with relief.

"Then why?" Bonnie asked with tilted head.

"Because Butterfree wanted to go with this pink one. Butterfree really liked this pink one and wanted to go with it, so I let him. It happened on festival of Butterfree. It was my first pokemon I caught and we had so many good memories. There is no pokemon I caught I wouldn't like." He really let his pokemon go like this? He just let his first pokemon go, because it wanted?

"But if you really liked Butterfree, then why did you let it go?" I asked still suprised.

"When you really like your pokemon, then you know when you will let them go, if they want to or have to." Ash said with smile, but I could see it was more like sad smile.

"And what about the second one?" Bonnie asked looking at Butterfree playing with Pikachu.

"It was Caterpie I found in Unova. I helped it to evolve into Butterfree." Ash said and was continuing, but I was still suprised, how selfless ha can be. I propably couldn't let Fennekin leave me like this or I don't know. But for Ash? It is like right thing and he doesn't care how it can hurt him.

"We should have tried something." Jessie said angry, looking down at Ash and others.

"We don't have anything we could use to fight with twerps. I know boss want from us to catch that stupid Riolu, but how would we do it today?" James trying to calm down Jessie.

"Hey we could at least see something like this." Meowth said pointing to cliff.

Jessie wanted to say something, but she stopped at it. James and Meowth looked confused at her sudden stop, when they noticed two Dustox flying to them.

"Dustox?" Jessie said not believing what she was seeing. It was her Dustox, that released years ago.

"Dustox!" shouted excited with reunion.

Jessie watched still blanky at two Dustox but then smiled.

"I hope you are taking good care of my Dustox." Jessie said with smile to second Dustox.
