Sorry Doesn't Cut It

Madison P.O.V

"Ahem." I heard a throat clear behind me. The cafeteria soon became quiet. I swallowed my food right before turning around.

I almost spit back up my food when I saw who it was.

"What the hell! What are you guys doing here?!" I stuttered to my three friends standing in front of me. "How did you even find me?" I demanded to know.

They parted as I saw Loren walk between them with a big ass smirk on her face.

I wanted to slap her smile off her face so bad. How did she even find them? "Well, is there a reason you're here?" I asked trying not to freak out.

"That's all you have to say to us?!" Liv screamed. The entire cafeteria was looking at us by now.

"What else am I supposed to say?" I said quietly.

"Maybe that you're sorry for leaving your best friends out in the dust?!?" Liv continued, "I come to your house one day to find a f-ing 'SOLD' sign outside your house!" She continued on and on until I finally slammed my hand against the table.

"I had to. I couldn't stay anymore." I said looking at Liv in the eye

"So that caused you not to even say goodbye!?" Her face turning a different shades of reds.

I couldn't answer her.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't-" She cut me off. "Sorry doesn't cut it." She looked at me up and down as if disgusted at what I had become.

I swallowed. "Let's go girls." Liv told May and Tori. They gave me disappointing looks.

"Oh and before I leave," Liv stopped walking.

She walked up to the stage of the cafeteria and plugged in the mic. "I just wanted all of you to know about the little bitch over there." She pointed at me.

I shook my head and tried to get her to stop.

"She may seem nice, but none of you have met the real Madison Pettis."

"Stop." I said. She continued. It wasn't her place to tell everyone about my secret.

"STOP." I spoke louder. When her mouth continued to move I went up the the stage and smacked the microphone out of her hand.

"There she is." I glared at her as if I was going to strangle her.

"MADISON PETTIS EVERYONE!!" She yelled stomping off the stage. I stood there like a dumb ass with everyone staring at me and whispering.

My old friends left while a smirking Loren was left to reclaim her throne.

I gave her a look that said, "This isn't over." I left the stage and went straight to my next class.

For anything I was not looking forward to the rest of the day. Once I again more people were talking about my outburst at lunch. It's not like it's my fault she just pissed me off!

I wish Loren would just leave me alone. I don't know why she targeted me in the first place. I waited until the bell finally rang dismissing us from this prison. I slung my backpack against my back and walked straight out of school.

While walking I slipped in my headphones and listened to my favorite playlist. Jamming and silently jamming to myself, I received a call. Irritated by the interruption, I answered it.

"Hey Madison it's Nina." I heard a distorted voice say.

"Nina, is your voice okay?" I asked her. Her voice was fine today. "No, my pho- is just a li- messed up," she responded on the other end.

"Well, ok.." I told her jiggling the key into the house. I walked in and threw my backpack on the sofa.

I started to rummage through the fridge, still on the phone. "Can you meet me at the park on River- Ro-?" I heard the distorted voice ask.

"The park on Riverside Road?" I clarified. "Yeah that on- See yo- in ten." The dial tone went blank. That was weird, I thought to myself while pouring myself a cup of milk.

I grabbed the box of ores and spent five minutes eating and on my phone. I went upstairs to change into workout clothing and put on running shoes.

Walking back into the kitchen, I opened the biggest drawer and pulled out half a sheet of paper and a pen. I wrote a note to my mom in case she was wondering where I had vanished to.

I locked the door behind me and mocked the half a mile to the park. When I arrived there was no one there. I had never seen a park empty before. I sat down on the longest bench and waiting for Niña. I got a text on my phone from her that read,

Niña: Hey, sorry running late. I'm near the entrance to the forest

Sitting up from the bench, I walked over the beginning of the trail and waited. I heard a branch cracked and whipped my head around.

Nothing.

All of a sudden I felt a damp rag over covering my mouth and nose. I struggled to breath and tried to yell.

Slowly I began to lose consciousness.
