Madison P.O.V

"I will never forget that night," He responded. He ran his fingers through my hair. I turned around and faced him. I put my lips to him and kissed him.

He slipped his tongue into my mouth as I tasted the dark chocolate from the desert we had. I moaned softly. He pulled away from the kiss, something he never does.

"What's wrong?" I asked him wondering why he just declined me.

"Madison, there's something I need to tell you."

I looked at him with fear in my eyes. I never liked those words. I had no idea what would be coming out of his mouth.

I pursed my lips waiting for him to continue talking, but he didn't. He could no longer look at me. "Lucas what is it?"

I prayed hoping that it wasn't more lies. If he told me anything that would jeopardize our relationship I will break down crying.

We reaching the top of  the Ferris Wheel and stayed up there. Not sure why they do this every time on Ferris Wheels.

"I'm sick," Lucas began. "Like a cold?" I asked wondering why he was making such a big deal out of this. "Madison listen, I am very sick." He told me. I rolled my eyes wondering why he was making this up. He didn't even seem sick.

"Stop tripping." I told him. His eyes grew dark with sadness.

"I have cancer. I'm in stage 1," He told me. It felt like my entire face melted off. "How long?" I asked him fearing the answer.

"3 and a half months. This type of cancer spreads incredibly fast." He mumbled. I pulled his head close to me. He rested his face on my chest and began to softly sob.

I mumbled into his ear that everything was going to be okay. A warm tear rolled down my cheek and landed into his hair.

Before I realized it we were back at the bottom of the Ferris Wheel. We got off the crate and walked slowly to his car. Without talking he took me home. "I love you," I whispered before pecking him on the lips.

I got out of his car and walked inside my house. I slammed the door behind me. "Madison!" My mom yelled from the couch. I ignored her and pounced up to my room like a five year old.

I plopped onto my bed and screamed over and over again. My door flew open as my 11 year old sister pranced into my room unannounced. "GET OUT!" I screamed at her.

Her face flushed with horror and she quickly scampered out of my room. I continuously cried until I cried myself to sleep.

I breathed in the flowers beautiful strawberry scent near me.

My hand locked with Lucas's I held on hard. I had such little time with him left. I tried hard not to think about it.

Lucas led me to the bench in the butterfly compartment. I laid my head on his lap and stared deep into his eyes. "I have something for you," He said falling deep into my eyes.

"What?" I said in a childish voice. He lifted up my head and took me by the hand. I stood up looking up at him. "What?" I asked when he was just staring at me.

I chuckled. Lucas looked at me once more until he bent down and got on one knee. "Uhh.." I mumbled low to myself. My eyes grew wide as he rumbled through his pocket.

Lucas pulled out a small black box. I began to mumble to myself again. "Madison Caylyn Pettis, will you do me the honor and be my wife for the rest of my days?" I chuckled softly although his death was nothing to joke about.

I smiled so wide as he held the ring in his hand.

"Yes, Si, Oui, a million times yes!" I told him jumping up and down. He slipped the small elegant ring onto my finger. I stared at in and fell in love with the ring as much as I loved Lucas.

I was now engaged to Lucas. I wonder when the wedding would me. I laughed at the joke I made inside my head. For a second I almost forgot that Lucas would be taken from me.
