Mekhi POV:

My parents left about ten minutes ago and I'm still out by the pool talking with Zane. Scarlett is still gone.

"So does she do this often?"

"Scarlett...yeah she does might as well get use to it son. She usually runs out to the lake and sits on the pier. I think it's like her place to escape and get away from her thoughts swarming her head."

"Does she stay out long; it's been a while now."

"Sometimes longer than I wish she would. She always takes Rebel with her. She should be fine. I can show you where she is come on?"

I follow him into the house and to his office. He turns on the computer and there is a map of the area. And there is a little red dot blinking by water. "That is Rebel; we had a chip put in him when we got him."

"Smart."

Zane's phone starts ring hand he looks to see who it is. When he answers it he says, "When are you coming home?"

It has to be Scarlett everyone else is already here. Suddenly his tone changes and he sounds worried and he is yelling in the phone, "Scarlett what's wrong; I'm coming baby, I'm coming."

He is still holding the phone and practically running out the door. He yells out, "Atticus, Ashton lets go."

He doesn't have to yell out my name because I am already right on his heels. Ashton gets in to drive and we all pile in the Bentley. Ashton is flying out of the drive way while Zane is ordering him, "go to the lake, she's got to be by the pier with Rebel."

He looks worried and now I'm starting to panic.

"What's wrong; what happened?" I ask.

"I don't know but something is wrong she was saying shit over and over and something about being hard to breathe. She sounded like she was hurt."

I hope that it is just a panic attack but something tells me it's much worse. It takes us not even five minutes to get to the lake even though it felt like a lifetime. I can see a body lying on the pier and I jump out of the car before it comes to a complete stop.

I'm running like a mad man to get to her, I look down and there is so much blood; it's freaking everywhere, even on Rebel. She is lying there lifeless. I bend down and she is breathing but it's very shallow. I grab her chin and hold it up.

"Baby look at me, Scarlett I'm here, baby open your eyes."

She is lifeless; I'm not losing her. I pick her up and run back to the car. Zane and Atticus are getting back to get in the same time I do. I start barking orders, "Hospital now!"

Ashton speeds out and Zane and Atticus are looking at me holding our girl.

I keep talking to her hoping she will wake up but she still isn't responding.

"Baby girl what the fuck happened. I'm going to kill the person who did this to you. I promise that guy is fucking dead meat." I'm wiping the stray hairs out of her face and I'm trying to figure out where the blood is coming from, but there is so much. "I love you Scarlett." I hold her closer to me. "Don't give up on us, don't give up. You got to fight baby, live for us, live for me." I can feel my eyes starting to water up but I don't care if they see me like this; I can't lose her; she is my everything."

We pull into the hospital and we are all jumping out. I'm still holding her.

Zane is already inside giving orders that Scarlett is hurt and we need help immediately. Doctors and nurses rush over and they have a roll bed they tell me to put her down. We are all running down the hall to the surgery room and that's when they stop me.

"Sir you have to wait out here."

I keep trying to push past her but a few other nurses come over. "Sir let the doctors do their job you have to wait here, I'm sorry."

Zane walks over to us and he tells the nurse, "You tell them they better do everything and I mean everything to keep her alive."

"Sir they will do everything, I promise."

Zane has to pull me away.

It's been almost an hour and they still haven't come out. I have paced this damn floor a million times because I can't find it in me to sit and wait.

Ashton comes in the waiting area and he has photos with him. He is handing them over to Zane. "We have pictures of a car sitting outside the gates sir. As you can see it doesn't leave until after she does. I think she was targeted sir."

"What, What the fuck do you mean targeted?"

Ashton looks at me and then back at Zane.

"Is this all we have to go on?" Zane ask.

"Yes sir, but if you look we have the license plate number."

"Find out who owns that damn car."

"On it sir." Ashton walks away.

"Why would she be a target?" I ask Zane again.

"I don't know but I'm going to find out; no one fucks with my baby girl and gets by with it."

A few minutes later the doors open and a doctor walks over to us.

"How is she sir?" I ask.

"Are you all family; who is the one that sees to her medical needs?"

Zane and I both say, "I am." At the same time. We look at each other and Zane looks back at the doctor. "I'm her father; tell me what is going on?"

"Ok well...she was shot in the lower abdomen. She lost a lot of blood but the surgery went well and she is in recovery."

I have been holding my breath since he walked out and I finally let it out. "She's going to be all right?"

"Yes but it may take a while to recover. The bullet hit into her uterus wall and..." he stops to look at me.

"And." I urge him to go on.

"We had to do a full hysterectomy. It shattered parts of the ovaries..I'm sorry."

"You're saying she will never be able to have kids?"

"Unfortunately no.. we had no choice. It's going to take a while to heal and maybe time to walk. I won't be sure until she wakes up to see what is going on. But with Physical Therapy she will be up and walking normally. She was lucky that it wasn't worse one inch over and it would have hit her spine causing permanent damage and paralyzing her lower part of the body. Like I said she was lucking it didn't do more damage. Any other questions?"

"Can we see her?" I ask.

"When we move her to her room yes. However only two at a time for now. I will let the nurse come get you when she gets out of recovery alright."

"Thank you sir." Say Zane.

As the doctor leaves, I walk over to the wall and hit the hell out of it busting my knuckles. I kneel down and scream. I don't give a shit if people are looking at me. Zane comes up and puts his hand on my shoulder.

"Son she is going to be all right. She is a tough girl."

"No she's not. He did this to her and he is going to pay dearly for hurting her."

"Yes he will, but in the mean time you need to chill, be there for our girl she needs you more than ever now. I never thought I would see anyone love her as much as I do, but as I can see she means everything to you."

"She is my everything sir. I don't think I can live without her. How do I tell her?"

"We will find away."

"Zane I wanted to marry her and have kids with her...a family you know."

"Son you can still marry her and if you want kids you can always adopt."

"It's not the same. I wanted little Scarlett's running around." I bury my face in my hands. Zane keeps his hand on my shoulder.

The nurse comes out and since they will only allow two at a time Zane and I go in first. She is hooked up to several machines and laying there sleeping.

"Doctor said it may take a while for her to wake up." Says the nurse as she is checking her vitals.

We both pull up a chair to sit closer to her and I hold her hand and kiss it softly.

The sun is coming in through the window and she is still out. Zane has been in and out all night and so has Atticus. I can't seem to move and I want to be here when she wakes up.

Zane gets a call and leaves the room but then comes right back in.

"We are going to the guys house do you want to come along?"

"Of course I do, but I can't just leave her alone."

"Your mom is here in the waiting room she could sit with her."

"Alright."

Zane went out to get her and Meagan walks in right behind her. They both hug me.

"Look if she wakes up you text me immediately got it."

"I will," she kisses me on the cheek. "and please be careful I can't have anything happening to my boy."

"I'll be fine mom." I let go of her and walk over to kiss Scarlett on the lips. "I'll be back soon babe; I love you."
