You grunted as you threw the last bag into the van. The break was now over and you were all ready to head back and return to the grind. The surfing competition was close now and you really needed to buckle down.

Ezreal: Man. I wish we had some more time. The ice wasn't even thick enough to play hockey.

Lux: Global warming, Ez. It is real.

Rakan: You know what else is real? Aliens. Now let me explain...

Xayah quickly silenced him by hitting him with her bag. Kayn was off to the side texting Akali while Jinx was trying to balance on the wooden fence.

The Blades would be heading back pretty soon as well. You and Evelynn already had a date planned since the Winter Ball was now also just around the corner.

You had a date to Winter Ball!

Well, you had a date last year as well. You and Jinx went together and spiked the punch bowl. Not a good idea.

Kayn: Is everyone ready?

Rakan: I dunno. Are you going to drug us again?

Kayn: You drugged yourselves!

Ezreal: That we did.

You just rolled your eyes and crawled into the back of the van.

Xayah: We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and the flashback starts. I'm standin' there. On a balcony in summer air~

Rakan: See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns. See you make your way through the crowd. And say, "Hello". Little did I know~

The two lovers sang along to the song that had randomly appeared on the radio while you played some game on your phone. You had no signal so you were just trying to keep yourself entertained.

Ezreal: Ah, man. This sucks. I can't get a call through at all.

Jinx: Who are you trying to call? We're all in the van.

Ezreal: I'm trying to text Kai'sa. We're going to watch that new movie that just came out.

Lux lifted her head at the news. Even Jinx got a bit uneasy with where this was going.

Kayn: Wait, like, a date?

Ezreal: Probably not. But I wouldn't be against it. I mean, she's pretty cool. I like hanging out with her.

Lux slowly lowered her head again and began to play with her fingers. You and Jinx looked at the both of them before looking at each other.

You closed the game and slowly sat up.

Y/N: That's cool. Uh, you guys, um, been hanging out a lot?

Ezreal: Kinda. She helped me out with the whole Ryze thing. She's been supportive as hell. I think I have a bit of a crush.

Lux: I'm going to sleep.

You all looked at Lux as she pulled one of the blankets over herself. She rolled over so that her back was to Ezreal.

You frowned at the fact that Ezreal was unknowingly hurting her. But at the same time, he was happy. You didn't know what to do with this situation.

Even Jinx was at a lost. Xayah and Rakan had stopped singing as well at this point and just ended up mumbling a conversation between the two of them.

This was going to be a weird car ride home.

Evelynn: Wait, you and Ezreal are going to the movies together?

Evelynn sat in the front seat of the car while Ahri drove. Akali and Kai'sa sat in the back while their stuff was in the trunk, put away nicely.

Kai'sa had mentioned the movie thing when Ahri suggested they get together for a trip to a Cafe.

Akali: Seriously? Yo, Ahri, you need to hop on some Southside dude or you'll be left out.

Kai'sa smacked her shoulder which only made Akali laugh. Ahri rolled her eyes while Evelynn realized the situation.

Kai'sa: It's not like that. We just want to see this movie and we happen to agree to see it together. Not like any of you would've come along.

Ahri: So it's not a date?

Kai'sa pondered the question for a moment. She did enjoy Ezreal being around and he was very kind once you got past the playboy front he had. Plus he was pretty handsome.

But she also knew that Lux had a thing for him.

Kai'sa: No. It's not a date. Just....a friendly outing.

Akali: Oh shut up. It's totally a date.

Kai'sa: It's not.

Evelynn: What if he thinks it is?

Kai'sa: Then it's one date! It's not like we'll be dating and planning our future wedding or anything! Can we just drop it?!

The others got a bit quiet after Kai'sa exploded. She crossed her arms and stared out the window to try and calm down.

In truth, she wouldn't mind if it was a date. She really did like Ezreal so the prospect of a relationship wasn't such a bad thing.

The only thing stopping her was Lux.

But the more she thought about it, the more she began to find justification.

If Lux has had this crush on Ezreal for so long, why hasn't she said anything to him? And clearly he wasn't interested in her like that. Even if he did know, he didn't seem to care.

Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if Kai'sa tried?

Jinx: 99 cartons of milk on the wall, 99 cartons of milk. Take one down, pass it around, 98 cartons of milk on the wall.

Kayn: Please stop.

You've been driving for nearly an hour now, meaning you would now have service again. You pulled out your phone to see that you had now new messages.

You did, however, have a missed call.

From your mother.

But she also knew you would be driving through the mountains so she must've called just to make sure you called her.

You dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.

But she didn't.

Y/N: Man, I hate that.

Rakan: Hate what?

Y/N: When you have a missed call from someone and you try to call them back and they don't answer.

Rakan: Dude, same. And you know who's really bad?

You all turned to Xayah. She just flipped you all off with both fingers.

Jinx: Oh, I love it when you get mad.

Y/N: Lux, you awake?

Lux said nothing. You couldn't tell if she was really awake or not.

Ezreal: Let the girl sleep. She's probably tired.

Jinx: Figured as much.

You tried to call your mom again, but she still didn't answer.

She must be at work or something. But then again, Christmas was in two days. She normally took these days off.

You immediately began to worry.

Y/N: H-Hey, Kayn? Can you drop me off first?

Everyone heard the hint of fear in your voice. Kayn didn't even argue.

It took another 20 or so minutes, but he did finally reach your place. You thanked him and hopped out of the van, but they didn't leave. Instead, Ezreal and Jinx headed up with you.

You unlocked the door and opened it, only to find your mother on the floor.

Y/N: Mom? Mom!

You rushed over to her and tried to shake her awake. Ezreal immediately called 911 while Jinx rushed outside to try and get some help from someone.

You began to panic as the world around you went silent. You could only hear the echoes of you voice as you tried to wake your mother.

You were pulled away sometime later when the EMTs arrived to get her on a stretcher.

You friends all watched as you climbed into the ambulance with your mom.

Evelynn didn't even think twice about it when Kayn called Akali. But when she told the Blades the news, Evelynn felt her stomach drop.

You now sat in a hospital room as your mom laid in bed. She was pale and sick.

You just kept your eyes on her, scared that if you looked away, she would be gone.

This couldn't be happening.
