The Shop
Sett took a drag of his cigarette as you, Kayn, and Jinx watched him. He blew the smoke out and turned to you.
Sett: It's gone.
You dropped your head and your friends placed their hands on your back.
It was official. Your skateboard was done for.
RIP.
Jinx: It's okay, dude. You can hang it on your wall now and use it as a fuel fro your conquest against the LeBlancs.
Kayn: Or, hear me out, use it to get Evelynn to sleep with you.
Jinx: I retract my idea in favor for Kayn's.
Y/N: Not helpful.
You got up from the couch and picked up your broken board. You groaned before you stuffed the pieces into your backpack. The shop's door opened and Ezreal walked in with a cupholder that had four drinks in it, as well as a paper bag.
Ezreal: So? What's the verdict?
Jinx made a head cutting gesture with her touge out and Ezreal winced.
Ezreal: Tough luck.
He set the food down in the counter and tossed you a burger.
Ezreal: So, what are you going to tell your mom?
You unwrapped the hamburger. Everyone else got their food before you sighed.
Y/N: Nothing. What am I even supposed to say? "Hey, I was almost hit by a car but it's okay because they broke the skateboard dad got for me instead"?
Kayn: She'll just be thankful you're alive.
Jinx: Yeah. Plus, you could totally get a new one. You've been looking for an excuse.
Y/N: Yeah, but this isn't....look, can we talk about something else? I wanna take my mind off of it.
Sett knew how annoyed you could get when something was pushed. He decided to take it upon himself to change the subject.
Sett: Well, how were the waves Friday?
Ezreal: Pretty good. I think we got, like, three good rides.
Jinx: But the beach was a different story.
Sett sat back on the couch with his hamburger.
Kayn: The Blades showed up.
Sett: The Blades? You mean those girls who came to the shop looking for Y/N?
You messed with your straw.
Y/N: Yep.
Ezreal: All four of them. They did hang out for a bit.
Sett: And how did that go?
Jinx: We were nice. So were they. Akali still didn't really talk to me, though.
Sett: Akali? Isn't that the girl you got into that fight with over....
Jinx: It was the LAST PUDDING CUP! I CALLED DIBS AND THAT BITCH STILL DIDN'T....
Kayn sprayed her with the spray bottle and Jinx hissed.
Kayn: Down, girl! Down!
Ezreal: Actually, Evelynn's brother was the one who almost hit Y/N.
Sett: Real shit? Talk about a bad stroke of luck.
It really was. You had never talked to the Blades before, and now one was slowly becoming a constant in your life. The same one that was almost an accessory to your murder.
You just dropped your head on the counter. You then softly slammed your head against the counter about five times before you stood back up.
Y/N: I'm going to go clean the back.
Sett: So, you're taking a smoke break.
You just waved as you dissapered to the back. Jinx watched your for a moment before she turned to Sett.
Jinx: Those girls are a bunch of bitches. She didn't even apologize to him.
Kayn: To be fair, it was her brother who almost turned Y/N into a fucked up pancake.
Jinx: It doesn't change the fact that those prissy little princesses think they're above murder.
Ezreal: They...they don't think that.
Kayn: Murder is all prospective.
Jinx: Bitches!
Suddenly, the door opened and everyone turned to see that it was Evelynn and Ahri.
Jinx: Sssssssshit! I said bitches three times.
Sett: Welcome back. Like Kayn said, we don't sell people.
Ahri: I seriously hope not.
Ezreal sighed and went to find something else to do while Kayn just sat on the couch with his comic book. Jinx sat next to him but she was glaring at the two.
Evelynn: Uh, is Y/N here?
Jinx: You here to finish the job?
Evelynn: Oh my God.
She dropped her head and sighed.
Evelynn: Does everyone know about that?
All: Yes.
Evelynn looked at Sett with worried eyes.
Evelynn: Even you?!
Sett: I was the first to know. He brought his board here right after your brother nearly killed him.
Ahri looked at her friend. Evelynn had convinced her to come along to apologize in person and to see if she could maybe help with the skateboard situation. But, it seemed like it was backfiring pretty quickly.
Meanwhile, in the back lot behind the shop, you sat on the parking curb with a cigarette. You were scrolling through your phone looking at skateboard.
Christ, they were expensive.
The back door to the shop opened and you looked over to see Ezreal poke his head through.
Ezreal: Code Blade in the front.
You groaned. Why were they here? They were literally the last people you wanted to see right now.
Ezreal: Wanna keep hiding?
You thought about it before you flicked the rest of your cigarette away. You stood up and followed Ezreal back inside.
While Sett tried to keep things calm, you and Ezreal emerged from the back. Evelynn spotted you and smiled a bit, but that smile quickly dissapered when she saw how tired you looked.
Jinx: Good. Now apologize and get the hell out.
Ahri: I thought we had a truce.
Kayn: Truce is officially broken. War is now waging. And I must let you ladies know, I take no prisoners.
He slowly turned around to look at them.
Kayn: And I don't believe in war crimes.
The girls looked at him in fear before they turned back to you. Your friends were right. The truce was now broken.
Y/N: Say what you need to say.
Evelynn looked at her friend for support but Ahri had none to give. This was all on her. What she said next could either fix the truce, or ruin it further.
Evelynn looked back to you and took a deep breath.
Evelynn: Look, I came here to say that in sorry for what my brother did this morning. Also to say sorry about your board. It seems like it meant a lot to you.
Y/N: Yeah, it did.
Evelynn: So, I was hoping that we could maybe sit down and talk? So, like, we could be cool again?
You looked at the cheerleader then at your friends. Jinx, of course, seemed uninterested. However, Ezreal and Kayn looked like they really didn't want any more drama or disturbance.
You then looked over to Sett.
Y/N: Sett.
Sett looked up.
Y/N: What do you think I should do? Take her invite to free dinner, or leave the truce broken?
Evelynn: Wait, free dinner?
Sett: Free diner does sound like a good way to make up for their brother almost killing someone. But, if you leave the truce broken then maybe they'll stop coming around here with all this highschool drama.
Evelynn thought about it, and figured she could do a free diner. If that meant avoiding you and your friends avoiding her and her group for the rest of your lives.
Especially now that she was so close to finding out the truth.
Ahri also wanted this to come to an end. To her surpise, she actually really liked spending time with your group. You all felt so...sincere. She wanted the truce to stay. She wanted to hang out again.
Sett: But...
Everyone looked at him.
Sett: A rather attractive girl has come all the way to this shithole to apologize to you. Be a shame to just let her walk away upset like this. I say take the dinner, talk it over, and shake hands. No point in breaking a truce for something that neither of you were responsible for.
You debated it, and figured he did have a point.
You turned to Evelynn and crossed your arms.
Y/N: Alright. I accept the free dinner and chat in favor of keeping the peace.
Evelynn perked up and quickly nodded.
Evelynn: Okay. Uh, Friday sound good?
You shrugged. You never had plans. Evelynn, however, smiled. This was her chance to figure out if you were the same Y/N she knew. Also to keep the peace.
She figured out that Akali and Kai'sa actually really liked you and your friends. She didn't want to be the one to ruin it.
Evelynn: Okay. It's a date.
Your friends all lifted their heads as the girls turned to leave. However, Evelynn stopped and spotted a comic. She picked it up and walked over to yhe counter.
Evelynn: I also want this.
Sett just rang her up and she paid. She then waved at you and left the shop. Then, all eyes turned to you.
Kayn: Date?
Ezreal: Date?
Jinx: Date?
Sett: It's barley 4:45? Fuck, man.
You just watched as the girls drove away from the shop. You then sighed.
You were the "leader" of your friends. You needed to do what you could to keep the peace. You knew it was only a matter of time until Jinx tried to fight one of the Blades, Kayn had to work with Kai'sa on projects, and Ezreal already had bad enough luck with girls.
Plus, Lux, Rakan, and Xayah actually liked having them around. You know, once they actually warmed up to them.
Sett: Do you kids have a photo of these Blades?
Kayn, with no hesitation, slapped a photo on the counter. You all looked at it.
Jinx: Why do you...
Kayn: Mind your own fucking business, Jinx.
Ezreal: But, where did you...
Kayn: No. More. Questions.
Sett just looked at the photo.
Sett: Huh. I've actually seen them around town before. This is the group you guys have a truce with?
Jinx: Yep. But, Ahri did dye her hair blonde.
Kayn took the photo back and tucked it back into his pocket. You had a few questions, but you figured you were better off without those answers. Plus, maybe you didn't really want to know.
Sett: And you got a date with one of them. Good job, kid.
You snapped out of your thoughts and looked at the older man.
Y/N: Wait, no. It's not like that.
Ezreal: She's the one who called it a date. Plus she's paying for it.
Y/N: Yeah, but it's not an actual date.
Jinx: It better not be. Trust me, Y/N. You're better off without them messing up your love life.
Kayn: Speak for yourself, woman!
Kayn grabbed you and forced you to look at him.
Kayn: Enjoy this to it's fullest! Maybe get a kiss in! Hell, go the full mile and try to get laid!
Jinx pulled him off of you and tackled him to the ground. There, she held him in a painful grip that he couldn't escape.
Jinx: Respect woman, you ass!
Kayn: But you hate them! Gah!
Jinx: Doesn't matter!
You just sighed as you shook your head. It wasn't an actual date.
-------------
Ahri: I can't believe you just talked your way into a date.
Evelynn: Me neither.
The two sat in Ahri's car as she drove down the street. Music played on the radio as they watched the world go by.
Evelynn: Oh my God. I have a date.
Ahri: Did you just realize that?
Evelynm: Oh my God! I didn't even realize I said that it was date!
Ahri: You're hopeless. What the hell has been up with you lately?
Evelynn rubbed her temples as her friend waited for her answer.
Ahri: I mean, you haven't really been yourself since this Y/N guy showed up....Or since we've noticed him.
Evelynn: I don't know. I really don't. It's just....he might be the same Y/N I knew.
Ahri: Yeah, you still haven't really explained that at all. Why do you keep saying that? Who was this other Y/N you knew?
Evelynn sighed as she laid her head against the window. It was true. She never did tell anyone about this Y/N she once knew in her youth.
Ahri looked over to her friend to see that she was deep in thought.
Evelynn: Y/N, the one I knew, was my best friend when I was a kid.
Ahri raised a brow. She had moved to town when she was in the 3rd grade. However, she never met this person Evelynn kept mentioning.
Ahri: Your best friend? What happened?
Evelynn: I'm not sure. He just dissapered one day. But, he was the first person who was ever nice to me.
She blushed a bit.
Evelynn: He was the first one who said I had pretty eyes.
Ahri looked at her friend in surpise. She knew how Evelynn felt about her eyes. They were always the one thing she hated about her appearance.
They looked evil.
They looked like they didn't belong.
That's why she always wore glasses when she could. Also why she never looked at anyone outside of friend and family in the eye.
So Ahri knew how much that meant to her friend.
Evelynn: He looked me in the eyes and told me that he thought they were pretty.
And she never forgot it.
She never forgot the boy she first fell in love with.
