The Second Date
You were at your desk watching the clock go by, just like always. It was now Friday and that meant you had another date. And honestly, you were excited.
You were going to show Evelynn how things were done on the Southside.
Singed: Mr. L/N!
You flinched and lifted your arms to block any possible books coming your way. However, nothing came. You slowly lifted your head to find your teacher standing there.
Y/N: Uh, hey?
Singed: Do you have a moment?
You nodded. You got up and followed him to the back of the class while everyone else studied or did their work in silence.
Ezreal looked up curious as Singed and you spoke.
Singed: I have a job for you to do.
You raised a brow as you crossed your arms.
Y/N: A job? What kind?
Singed: My daughter is moving to town with her daughter. They could use some help with the heavier items.
Y/N: Oh. Uh, yeah. Yeah sure. I can help. When?
Singed: They will be here tomorrow. If you could get your friends to help you, I can pay them as well.
Oh. You were gonna get paid? Cool! You were gonna help for free, but this us much better!
Y/N: Cool. Yeah, uh, just send me the address and I'll get the gang over to help out.
Singed smiled as he patted your shoulder.
Singed: Thank you. I means a lot. Now stop spacing out in my class.
He walked back to the front of the room as you stood there for a moment. You nodded and returned to your seat.
------------
You leaned against the gate entrance and looked at your phone. Looks like your mom just left to work. You won't see her til tomorrow, then.
You looked up just as you heard Eveylnn talking to someone. You spotted her with Kai'sa and Akali. Akali saw you first and smiled as she broke away from her friends to see you. Evelynn and Kai'sa noticed you after she did so.
Akali: Buddy!
Y/N: What's up, kiddo?
You dabbed her up which surpised the other two Blades.
Evelynn: Since when did you two get so close?
Akali smiled as she pointed to you.
Akali: He helped me get home after I dropped some acid. We ate tacos.
The girls looked at you.
Y/N: Uh, Yeah. Pretty much.
Kai'sa: O-kay?
You looked over to Evelynn and smiled.
Y/N: Hey. Ready to go?
Evelynn looked down at her uniform then back to you.
Evelynn: Uh...
Y/N: Trust me. You'll be fine.
Evelynn looked to her friends who just shrugged.
Evelynn: Okay. Yeah. Let's go.
You nodded and held your hand out. Without hesitating, she took it in her own and you winked at the the others. You both walked off to start your date.
Something that you had already planned.
-------------
Evelynn: Uh....what is this?
You chuckled a bit as Evelynn looked at herself in the mirror of the apartment you had brought her to. Instead of her uniform or the clothes she would normally wear, she wore the clothes that you had gave her.
It was a light red tank top that showed her stomach along with a pair of white shorts.
Y/N: Oh, wait.
You walked over to her as she turned to you. You placed something in her hair and stepped back. It was a flower.
Y/N: There we go.
Evelynn: What is this? Why am I wearing this?
Y/N: Well, you are a Richie. To avoid anyone bugging us, I figured you would be better off dressing like one of us.
Evelynn looked at your clothes and noticed that you dressed the way you always did. A button up with a pair of shorts. You looked relaxed.
She decided to let it be. She walked around the apartment and looked around. It was modest, yet cozy.
Evelynn: Is this your apartment?
You shook your head.
Y/N: No. It's Sett's.
Evelynn looked at you surpised.
Evelynn: And you just....break in?
You waved it off.
Y/N: He's cool with it. Actually, uh, that's his wife's...clothes.
You rubbed your chin. She didn't know, but Sett's wife actually passed away a few years ago due to breast cancer. It was shortly after the shop opened, actually.
Evelynn: Oh. Well, guess I'll have to tell them thank you.
You smiled a bit.
Y/N: Well, you hungry?
------------
Evelynn looked around the burger shack in awe. She had never been to this place before, but she fell in love immediately.
The smell was of grease and weed while the people there were all talking, laughing, and having fun. It was much more relaxed than the places she was used to.
Y/N: Kaikaina! I'mma need two over here!
Evelynn turned her attention back to you as you held up two fingers. The man behind the counter smiled and signaled that he got the order. You nodded with a smile and a chuckle.
You sat back down and turned back to Evelynn who was already feeling relaxed after the long school day. You also couldn't get over how nice she looked.
Evelynn: You must come here a lot.
Y/N: Course. This is the best place in town. We always get food from here.
She figured. The way you spoke to the cook and the way he responded made it clear that you knew each other. Plus, you blended in perfectly. And now that she had noticed the way everyone was dressed, she realized she looked like she belonged as well.
You both started to chat about how school was going when two more people entered the restaurant. They looked around before they spotted you.
Evelynn: So you're doing it? The competition?
You nodded.
???: Well, look at what the cat dragged in.
You looked up while Evelynn turned around.
Y/N: Oh, hey, Karthus. Pyke.
You stood up and greeted them both. As you did, Karthus looked at Evelynn. While she dressed like someone from the Southside, there were still people who knew who she was. She noticed his stare but he didn't say anything.
You knew the two of them from growing up. Pyke actually used to be your neighbor before his family finally got a house. As for Karthus, he used to be a part of your group before he went and joined the football team. He was a bit of a douche, but was loyal. That much you could give him.
Karthus: So, uh, what's going in here? Didn't know Richies were coming here.
Y/N: Hey. Play nice. She's with me.
Karthus: Yeah. I noticed.
Evelynn shifted in her seat before you sat back down.
Y/N: And she's gonna eat here and there won't be any problems.
Karthus simply raised his hands up to show that he wasn't going to start anything. Pyke you didn't have to worry about. He was quiet and mostly kept to himself.
Karthus: Just make sure she stays in her lane.
He playfully slapped your back as he and Pyke went to their table. You sighed and turned to Evelynn.
Y/N: Sorry about him. He's, uh, pure blooded Southside.
Evelynn: No, I get it. I just....it's stupid. What's up with the Richie and Southside crap anyway?
You smiled a bit.
Y/N: Well, as told to me by our mutual friend, you do some stuff that is considered illegal, yes?
Evelynn knew what you meant. She hesitated but nodded.
Y/N: And if you get caught, your parents could, say, bail you out. Not us. The only reason me, Jinx, and Ezreal are in Blades is because we passed the exam. You guys have money, and people here resent you for it.
Evelynn: That's what I don't get. Why?
Y/N: Because families here have been working their asses off for generations yet they never seem to get anywhere. Older folks hold their grudges against those they think wronged them. And sometimes, that passes down to the youth.
Evelynn watched as you looked around the shack. She took a closer look and noticed what she had missed the first time around. Bags under their eyes. Crows feet. Tighter clothes. Scars.
People who were younger looked older. They looked tired.
Yet they were smiling. Where they struggled and pushed to survive, they smiled.
She thought about her side of town and how people found something to complain about. Where they were unhappy. They didn't know struggle.
Y/N: But, that doesn't mean everyone hates each other.
You turned to her and smiled.
Y/N: Clearly. We get along.
Evelynn looked at you for a moment before the cook set two plates in front of the both of you. You thanked him and picked up your burger.
Y/N: Alright. Let's dig in!
------------
Evelynn walked with you as you both made your way through Southside. She was surpised how lively it was despite the sun going down.
People were still walking around, hanging around, and she could hear music playing from some houses that were near the street.
Evelynn: Is it always like this this late?
You laughed like she just told you a joke.
Y/N: It's only 7:30.
Evelynn: I know. It's just....I'm not used to seeing this many people around this time.
You stopped walking and turned to her.
Y/N: It's Friday. People are letting loose after working all week. Of course they would want to have some fun. Which is why I'm taking you out dancing.
Evelynn: Dancing?
You nodded. You grabbed her hand and led her towards a building. Outside, there were people already hanging around drinking and dancing to the music playing inside.
You approached the man standing by the door and smiled as you let go of Evelynn's hand.
Y/N: Hola, amigo!
Bouncer: No.
You frowned as you approached him.
Y/N: Come on, Carlos. Sabes que la pelea no fue culpa nuestra.
(You know the fight wasn't our fault)
Bouncer: Todavía peleaste
(You still fought)
Y/N: Fue totalmente en defensa propia.
(It was totally self defense)
Evelynn watched as you spoke to the man in fluent Spanish. Now that she was looking around, she realized most people around were either Cuban or looked like you. Well, they dressed like you. Like beach bums.
But she also took note on how the women dressed. They wore beautiful dresses that showed their figure. They used them to tease the men who were enjoying every second of it.
Y/N: Mira, Carlos, tengo una cita conmigo. Prometo que seremos buenos.
(Look, Carlos, I have a date with me. I promise we'll be good)
Carlos looked over to Evelynn who was still looking around. He then looked at you as you offered a sincere smile. Finally, he moved out of the way.
Carlos: No trouble.
You lifted a hand.
Y/N: Promise. Thanks, bud.
You turned back to Evelynn.
Y/N: Alright. Let's go.
You held her hand and entered the building. Inside, there were people dancing to the music and enjoying the drinks and food. It was like a party.
Evelynn found herself in awe at the sight. Neon lights lit up the dance floor and everyone was having a good time. Some sang along with the music, some hung back and watched, and some simply chatted with old friends and family.
She had never seen anything quite like it. Sure she had been to some house parties, but there was always somekind of drama or somekind of awkwardness in the air. But not here.
Y/N: So? What do you think?
You had to talk a bit louder for her to hear you, but she smiled.
Evelynn: I think I wanna dance.
She pulled you along to the dance floor, which you gladly allowed. She stopped when she found an opening and began to dance with the music without much care. And soon enough, you joined her.
You and Eve danced with each other in the neon lights as the music filled the air. She couldn't get her smile off her face while you couldn't take your eyes off of her.
The way her body moved added up with what she was wearing just made you stare. This girl was on a date with you. And you were going to make the most of it.
You both danced until you couldn't anymore. You took a short break and talk a bit. You then hopped back on the dance floor.
You both felt yourselves relax more as the night went on. Soon, she had her back against your chest as she moved. You didn't even think twice before you placed your hands on her hips.
You both didn't feel uncomfortable with each other. It was odd, but it felt almost natural. She's definitely not like the other girls you've hung out with. Or, went on a date with.
Vice versa, you were unlike any boy she knew. You paid attention to her when she spoke. You showed interest in the conversation and you never tried to cross any lines unless you knew for sure that it was okay. You were kind and considerate of her feelings.
And so, she didn't mind when you gently ran your hand down her arm. She didn't bat an eye when you locked her fingers with hers.
She looked up at you as you smiled with your eyes closed. Then, she decided to do something a bit risky.
She leaned up, closed her eyes, and kissed you.
It was short, but sweet. You both looked at each other and smiled.
Y/N: You wanna call it a night?
Evelynn: Sure. But, you'll have to walk me home.
--------------
And you did. You both walked hand in hand down the street towards her house. You both laughed over the night you had and talked about random things that didn't even matter.
When it came time to say goodbye, you both found yourselves hesitant to. But you were now standing in front of the gate that would lead to her house.
You awkwardly stood there in silence. Neither of you were sure of what to say.
Evelynn: So, uh, this was fun. I really enjoyed it.
You smiled.
Y/N: Well, thanks for coming. I'm glad you have fun.
Evelynn: I did.
You nodded as Evelynn pushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear. She had her school uniform in her bag that you were carrying for her.
You then thought back on what Akali had told you. About how Evelynn would accept it if you had asked her to be your girlfriend.
Evelynn: Well, guess this is...
Y/N: Hey.
Evelynn looked up at you.
Y/N: Um, this might be a bit out of the blue, but, uh, would you, maybe, wanna....be...with me?
Evelynn blinked before she realized what you said. Her cheeks grew a bit hot before she even tried to think of something to say.
However, she just said the first thing that came to mind.
Evelynn: Yes.
You both looked at each other for a moment.
Oh, wait. She said yes.
Aye, good for you, dude.
Y/N: Yes?
Evelynn nodded.
Evelynn: Yes. Yeah. I, uh, I wanna be...your girlfriend.
Y/N: Oh. Cool. Cool cool. Coolio.
Evelynn: Yep.
You both stood there again.
Y/N: Well, I guess I'll talk to you later. Tomorrow, maybe?
Evelynn nodded.
Evelynn: Yeah. Totally.
Y/N: Sweet. Well, uh, goodnight.
You smiled and turned to leave, but Evelynn quickly grabbed your arm. She pulled you back and you turned to face her.
Evelynn: You forgetting something?
You thought about it for a moment before you caught her drift. You smiled as you leaned down and lifted her chin up a bit.
You kissed her.
She happily returned the gesture.
Looks like you got yourself a girlfriend.
