The Encounters

The beach was fun. The Blades did end up going home while you and your friends stayed the night sleeping on the sand or in the van. You all went home the day after and you spent Saturday working around the shop. Sunday was mostly you sleeping in and catching up on the YouTube videos you've been neglecting.

And thus, the week began anew and you had to go back to school on Monday. God awful Monday.

You never related to an orange cat so much.

You let out a yawn as you pulled your shoes on. You were already dressed in your uniform and you had your bag ready. Right when you got your last shoe on, the door to the apartment opened.

You heard the familiar jingle of the keys and turned to find your mom enter. She looked tired. Made sense considering she'd been working both nights and days. She also had groceries with her, which you were quick to help out with.

Y/N: Hey, Ma. Let me get those.

Your mom smiled as you took the bags from her. You carried them to the counter while your mom took off her shoes. She was still wearing her scrubs that you had bought her for mother's day earlier in the year.

Mom: Thank you, sweetie.

Y/N: You look exhausted.

Mom: Well, you know how it is. Thankfully I'm off until tomorrow. I can catch up on my sleep.

You smiled a bit. You will always love your mom. She has done so much for you ever since your dad passed away. Plus, she's always been so damn supportive of you.

But raising a kid doesn't come cheap and neither does rent, so she often worked whenever she could.

Mom: How was the beach?

She turned to you to see that you were putting the groceries away already.

Y/N: It was good. Ran into some schoolmates, but we were civil.

Mom: That's good. You didn't touch my stash, did you?

You let out a low laugh.

Y/N: No, mom. That's old people stuff. We smoke crack now.

Your mom smiled at your joke.

Mom: Well, I need to take a shower and go lay down. Have a good day at school, hun.

Y/N: Course. I'll see you when I get back.

Your mom kissed your cheek and headed towards her room. You watched her for a moment until she was out of view. You then let out a sigh.

You shook your head and headed out for the day.

Across town, Evelynn did her makeup when there was a knock on her door. She looked back as it opened.

Nocturne: Hey, you ready?

Evelynn: Just about.

Nocturne: Alright. We'll be downstairs. Please don't make us wait for another hour. Shaco can't get another tardy.

Evelynn nodded to her brother and he closed the door. Evelynn turned back to her makeup and closed the case. She grabbed her bag and started towards her door but stopped when she heard someone yelling outside.

She walked over to the window and looked out to see that her dad had come home and was on the phone.

She rolled her eyes and went to join her brothers downstairs.

Once she reached the bottom of the stairs, she found herself lifted off the ground in a tight hug.

Sion: There's my favorite little sister! 'Bout time you showed up on time.

Evelynn groaned as he set her back down. Her other brothers were all waiting around. They were either on their phones or spinning a basketball on their fingers. Well, Kassadin was the only one spinning a basketball around his finger. Jayce was just mindlessly eating banana chips.

Nocturne: That everyone? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, yep. Let's go.

He grabbed his keys. It was his day for carpool. It was a system they all came up with since it was easier than just driving 6 different cars. And now that Evelynn had her license, she was now eligible to the drawing of names.

Nocturne turned towards the door but it swung open before he could reach it. Their father walked in, looking annoyed, but stopped when he saw his kids.

Darius: Oh, are you all leaving?

They all nodded.

Darius: Well, have a good day. Remember....

All: Success is immeasurable.

Darius: So give it your all. I love you all.

He then proceeded to walk over to Evelynn and kissed her head. He used to do it to everyone, but his sons expressed discomfort over being teenagers getting kisses from their parents.

Evelynn never minded, though. She loved her parents.

Darius: Be safe on your way to school.

Nocturne: Got ya.

He gave a quick wave while the others gave their own farewells. Evelynn followed her brothers but noticed that her mother's car was gone. Probably already left for work.

Or, never came back.

Weird hours.

Nocturne: If any of you dumbasses spill your damn shakes in my car, I will pull over and throw hands on the spot.

Shaco looked at his protein shake and smirked. However, Sion nudged him and signaled for him to behave.

Everyone climbed into the jeep and Nocturne backed out of the driveway.

Nocturne: You know what? Since our sister finally decided to get ready on time, why don't we take the scenic route?

There was no protest.
----------
You skated down the street pass other folks heading to their place of work, or to RHS. You waved at the few you knew and enjoyed your moments of freedom before you had to get to school.

You kicked your board up and grind a bench before you landed back on the sidewalk. You spotted the comic book shop coming up and smirked.

Sett was opening up the register for the day when he heard a noise.

Thump!

He looked up at the window, only to see your face pressed up against it.

Y/N: Notice me!

Sett flipped you off and you just laughed. You stuck your tounge out and continued on your way. You skated your way down the street and come to a stop when you hit a cross walk.

You waited there patiently for your turn to go.

Meanwhile, Evelynn listened to her brother's music as she looked out at the waves. No one really knew that she went to the beach Friday night. She didn't feel like explaining why she was looking for a boy there.

But she did get your name. However, when she looked it up in her yearbooks, your photo was missing.

Every. Single. Year.

So she didn't even know if you were really the same Y/N she knew.

Nocturne: Hey, someone pass me one of those banana chips.

Jayce: Get your own.

Nocturne: Don't be an ass.

Kassadin: Yeah. I'll call grandma and tell her you're being greedy.

Jayce: Fuck you. I paid for these.

Sion: Probably with the money I gave you.

Jayce looked at his bigger brother and sighed. He then held the bag out to Nocturne. Nocturne turned to grab them.

The light turned red.

You smiled when it was your turn to cross the street and started on your board again. However, you looked up to see that the incoming jeep wasn't slowing down.

Evelynn happened to look up as did Shaco.

Shaco: Dude!

Evelynn: Look out!

Nocturne turned back around just as you jumped back. Time seemed to slow down as you narrowly avoided being hit by the jeep, but your skateboard broke under it's tire.

The siblings felt the bump of the skateboard being ran over and Nocturne hit the breaks.

You fell to your back just as everyone rushed out of the jeep. You groaned a bit before you sat up. Your eyes landed on your board and your jaw dropped.

Y/N: M-My....My skateboard.

Nocturne: Dude, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?!

He kneeled down to look at you as everyone else gathered behind him.

Sion: Nice job, dumbass! Next time, keep your eyes on the road!

He smacked the back of Nocturne's head. However, Evelynn was just shocked that her brother almost ran you over.

Y/N: My....skateboard.

The siblings watched as you got up and walked over to your broken board. It was snapped in half, and beyond repair. You picked it up and looked at it.

They then watched as you dropped to your knees.

Evelynn: Y/N?

Y/N: I've had this board for five years.

They all looked at you confused as you began to shake.

Y/N: It's been with me through some of my most important moments in life. I've rode this board everyday since I got it. It was the last present my father ever gave me.

Then, you did something that no one in the history of Blades Academy has ever done. You shot back up and grabbed Nocturne's collar with eyes of anger.

You put your hands on a member of the LeBlanc family.

Y/N: AND YOU FUCKING BROKE IT!

Everyone waited for you to swing, Shaco and Bion were ready to step in and break up whatever fight was about to happen, but you instead pushed Nocturne away. You picked up the pieces of your board and walked off in anger.

It wasn't worth the fight. What would even be the point? It wouldn't fix your board and you were not about to accept whatever they were going to offer.

You needed to cool down before you started to throw hands at people who were bigger than you. Especially the school's star linebacker.

The siblings watched as you walked down the street, back the way you came. You couldn't carry your broken board around all day. Maybe Sett will let you keep it at the shop until school was over.

Evelynn just watched you before she turned to her brother.

Evelynn: Look at what you did! You could've killed him!

Nocturne fixed his tie and looked over to where stray pieces of wood were still sitting in the road.

Nocturne: Shit. Uh, does he go to our school? That was our uniform, right? Anyone know who he is?

He looked at his siblings but they all shook their heads.

Evelynn: His name is Y/N L/N. And you better be asking so you can apologize to him.

Nocturne: I am. I...shit. I can't believe that just happened.

Shaco: I thought he was about to knock your head off. You owe him big time.

He laughed a bit as he returned to the jeep. Everyone followed save for Nocturne and Evelynn. Nocturne really did feel like shit for what he just did. No excuses, it was his fault.

He sighed and walked back to the car. Evelynn, however, was still stuck on something you said.

The last present your father ever got you.
-------------
You groaned as you laid your head on your desk. Ezreal and Jinx watched you while Jinx sipped on her juice box.

Ezreal: Dude, that sounds scary. I'm glad you're okay.

Jinx: Fucking LeBlancs. Think they can almost kill us just cause they have money. Bastards.

You know they probably didn't mean to, but it didn't change the fact that it happened. You were still fired up about the whole thing since it was so fresh in your mind, but you were really more upset over your board being broken.

Scratch that.

It was destroyed.
~~~~~~~~~~
Sett: I can't fix this.
Y/N: WHAT?!
~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N: NoW i HaVe To WaLk EvErYwHeRe.

Ezreal: Yeah. If Sett can't fix it, no one can. Still, you should be thankful that you're alive right now.

Jinx rolled her eyes as the bell rang. She nudged your shoulder and waved to Ezreal before she headed to go to her own class. Ezreal shrugged and took his seat across the room while you just stared out the window.

Y/N: Somewhere over the rainbow~

Singed: Who allowed singing in my classroom?!

You were hit with a book.
----------
You grumbled to yourself as you carried the box of books to the library to return. Singed had asked you to do so, which you accepted.

Singed may be a bit harsh as a teacher, but he really did want what was best for his students. Plus, he was actually a good person under his scary looking face.

You still remember when he let you stay late to make up a major test. He made sure you also had water the entire time.

So, yeah. You would help him out here and there.

Y/N: But he could stand to stop throwing books at us.

You reached the library and walked in. The student librarian looked up from her book as you set the box down.

Y/N: Afternoon, Neeko.

The short girl, Neeko, smiled.

Neeko: Hello, Y/N. You bring me books?

You nodded. They were the textbooks that your class were using for the quarter. Now that it was over, you didn't need them anymore.

Y/N: All organized by name. Should make things easier for you.

Neeko: Oh. It makes things much easier. Thank you, Y/N. You're so kind.

You just smiled. Neeko was a weird girl, but she was nice. You never really talked to her outside of school unless you happened to run into her, which was rare.

She was mostly doing environmental stuff like raising awareness for the rainforest or.....whatever else it was she did. She had her own blog which was actually an interesting read somethings.

Especially when you were stoned.

You decided to stay and make small talk with her while she signed the books back into the system. Something that she appreciated since things got boring around the library when there was no one there to check anything out.

As you fell into conversation, two other students walked into the library.

Akali: This is so lame! Who even reads books anymore?

Evelynn: A lot of people do, actually. And I'm not going to help you with your research assignment if you're going to be complaining the whole time.

Akali groaned as Evelynn lead her to the shelves where they would find the book they were looking for. The Great Gatsby.

Evelynn recalled the same assignment she had to do when she was in Akali's grade. She got an A+, as expected.

But Akali would be lucky to get a B.

As Akali looked through the shelves, Evelynn checked the shorter ones. She knew the library had it, but she didn't remember where it was.

Akali: G. G. G. G. Ah, G.

She found the books with G and looked around. However, the book wasn't there.

Akali: Well, I tried.

She turned to leave, but Evelynn grabbed her arm and dragged her toward she counter to ask for help.

However, she froze when she saw you. You were leaning against the counter as you watched Neeko scan the books.

Y/N: So, do you ever get bored doing this?

Neeko: How can I get bored when I am doing something?

Y/N: Well....nevermind.

Neeko: You seem very very tired. Rough day?

You just sighed.

Y/N: You have no idea. I was almost hit this morning on the way to school.

Neeko: Oh my!

Evelynn winced while Akali looked over her shoulder.

Akali: Oh, hey. It's that Y/N dude. Did he just say he was almost hit?

Neeko: Who almost hit you? Do you know?

Evelynn looked at you worried. If you started telling everyone that it was her brother, then that could lead to problems.

Y/N: Nope. Just some guy.

Wait, what? You knew who almost hit you. Why did you lie? Evelynn was just confused.

In truth, you did know who Nocturne LeBlanc was. But you also didn't care to talk about him behind his back. It wasn't your style. Why start spreading the word when there was no reason to? It would just cause unnecessary drama.

Besides, Neeko probably didn't even know who he was. She spent all her time in the library anyway.

Akali: Yo!

Evelynn jumped at her friend's outburst while you and Neeko turned around. You spotted Evelynn, and narrowed your eyes. She felt bad, she did, and the way you looked at her only made it worse.

Neeko: More friends. How can Neeko help you?

Akali: I need help with finding a book. The Great Grape.

Evelynn: Gatsby.

Akali: The Gatsby Grape.

You and Neeko both raised a brow.

Evelynn: She means the Great Gatsby.

Akali: Yep. That's the one. Rich dude and the green light. Good shit.

You just sighed and patted the counter.

Y/N: Guess that's my cue. Later, Neeko.

Neeko: Bye bye.

You grabbed the empty box and headed out. Eveylnn whimpered which confused Akali.

Akali: Uh, what's up with that? He didn't even say hi.

Evelynn: I'll tell you later. Let's just get the book.
