The "Date"
Y/N: This is stupid.
Jinx: You're stupid.
Kayn: I'm stupid.
Ezreal: This show is stupid.
It was Friday. After a long week of school and work, it was finally Friday. And instead of going out with your friends and hanging out or reading some comics or watching a movie or anime or something, you had made plans.
You had a date.
Currently, you and your friends were at your apartment. Well, half of your friends. The others still didn't know about the whole ordeal.
You wanted this truce to go over smoothly, so you didn't want to tell Xayah or Rakan. Plus, Lux could keep a secret to save her life. The last thing you wanted was for everyone and their mothers thinking you and Evelynn were an item.
Ezreal had picked out and outfit for you, but Jinx quickly tossed it aside and picked out a different one. You wore a grey button up with a pair of dark jeans. Casual, in case this wasn't really a date.
God, you wish this wasn't really a date.
Ezreal: You can use the van if you want.
Y/N: I'm not taking the van.
Kayn: Why not? You can fuck in it.
Ezreal: Yeah.
Your two friends looked back at you from the couch as an old Sci-fi show played on TV. Jinx was sitting at the island with a cup of orange juice while you scrolled through your phone.
You still had a bit of time before you had to meet up with Evelynn at....whatever restaurant she picked. She had given you her number, really she just forced it into your phone, and had arranged a time and place.
You've never heard of this place.
You've loved here your whole life, and you've never heard of this restaurant. Sure, the town was decently big. But you've been pretty much everywhere. Where the fuck was this particular place?
You entered it into your maps and saw that it was over on the nicer side of town. Near the boardwalk.
Probably why you've never heard of it.
Y/N: We ain't fucking.
Kayn: Oh, you're gonna fuck.
Ezreal: Bone.
Kayn: Take her to pound town.
Ezreal: Doggy.
Kayn: Missionary.
Both: Blow job.
Jinx: You two are disgusting.
You looked at your friends.
Y/N: We ain't fucking. This probably intended even a date.
-----------
Kai'sa: I can't believe you're going on a date.
Evelynn: Me neither.
Over at the LeBlanc house, the Blades all helped Evelynn prepare for the date.
Now, you're probably wondering, is this a date?
The answer is yes.
And no.
You see, Evelynn thought that maybe you thought this is a date. However, you were, like, 86% sure that she didn't mean for it to be. However, since she had invited you to dinner, she was now full convinced that this was a date.
So.....yeah, I dunno.
Ahri finished up and looked at her work. She had done Evelynn's braid, she had become an expert after years of doing so, and smiled at her job well done.
Akali: So, you gonna sleep with him?
Evelynn: What? No. It's...it's the first date.
Kai'sa: First? So you already plan on there being others?
Evelynn realized what she said and quickly tried to back track.
Evelynn: Well, no. It just meant that, like, we're....we're not in a relationship. So why would I....sleep with him?
Akali: Cause he's cute.
Kai'sa: He's fun to be around.
Ahri: You're so obviously worked up over him that maybe it would get rid of some of that intense sexual tension you've had for the last week.
There wasn't any sexual tension.
Was there?
Akali: Yeah, so, you really think this guy is the same one you knew?
Evelynn knew it was actually a long shot. Who knew if you were the same person? But, she still wanted to know. And if you weren't, she still did want to get to know you better.
You seem like such a good friend and person. It baffled her how she and her friends never noticed you until recently, each if you've lived here your whole life.
Evelynn: Maybe.
Ahri: Well, rather he is or isn't, you go out there and enjoy this date.
Akali: And if you fuck it up, we can kiss that truce goodbye.
The girls all looked at her as she laid on her back.
Akali: Just saying.
-----------------
You stood in front of the restaurant Evelynn's had picked out. You immediately figured out why you've never heard of this place.
It was fancy as fuck.
You were actually scared to look at the prices. You've never been to a place like this before. You could never afford it. Plus, this side of town was a place you most definitely did not belong. Everyone here seemed so.....wealthy.
You actually felt a bit intimated. You were kinda glad that you and Kayn watched that proper table manners video as a joke. You might need it.
Salad fork goes first.
Followed by the fish fork?
Shit. You already forgot.
Y/N: I wonder if its too late to bail.
Evelynn: Hey.
You turned around at the voice to find Evelynn walking towards you. You noticed what she was wearing and how she had her hair and make up done.
Y/N: HOLY CRAP! IT'S TOTALLY A DATE!
You felt grossly underdressed. Hell, you saw a guy wearing a tux. A TUX!
Evelynn approached you and you began to regret your birth. You weren't an idiot and you weren't some edgy kid trying to be cool by hating everything everyone else loved.
Evelynn was a gorgeous girl. You could admit that.
But this was way out of your depth.
Evelynn: You didn't wait long, did you?
Y/N: Uh, n-no. Not really.
You've only been here staring at the sign for about five or so minutes. But, you needed to say something before this got awkward.
Y/N: You look nice. Really, uh, pretty.
Shit. Was that weird? Should you have used beautiful instead? No. What if she thought you meant something else?!
Evelynn: I look beautiful? Don't I always look beautiful?!
Evelynn smiled sweetly.
Evelynn: Thank you. You look very handsome yourself.
Oh thank God.
You subtlety sighed and gestured towards the restaurant.
Y/N: Should we head inside?
Evelynn nodded. You both headed towards the door and you held it open for her. She thanked you quietly and entered the restaurant with you following.
Now, you thought you were a mess? Let's take a look at Evelynn.
Evelynn: Holy crap! He looks really handsome! And he called me pretty! I'm not even wearing my glasses. I really hope he doesn't think my eyes are weird! But, if he's really the Y/N I knew, he wouldn't think that, would he?! Oh, did I overdress?!
She, however, kept a very calm and collected exterior as she approached the front desk. The man standing there was writing something down before he looked up to see her. He then smiled.
Man: Ah, Ms. LeBlanc. Just on time. Your table for two is ready.
This place needed reservations? How much more fancy can this place get?
Evelynn nodded in thanks and gestured for you to follow. You did as the man lead you both to your table. He pulled out the chair for Evelynn who sat down. He then pushed her in while you took care of your own chair.
The man gave you a weird look. Were you suppose to wait for him to do the same? Cause, that'd be a bit weird.
Man: Your waiter will be here soon. Shall I start you both off with some water?
Evelynn: Yes, please.
The man nodded and walked off. You looked around the restaurant to see that everyone in it was dressed in finer clothing than you. You spotted jewelry and expensive looking watches. The music the played in the background was classical and the air felt more.......rich.
How the fuck does the air feel richer than you?
Evelynn: You okay?
You looked back to Evelynn. She seems so at ease. Like she belonged here. Well, she probably did. This was probably just another Friday night to her.
It goes to show that you and her lived completely different lives.
Y/N: Yeah. Just....never been here before.
Evelynn: Really?
You nodded.
Y/N: I mean, I probably could never afford it.
Evelynn seemed a bit surpised by this. She figured you were well off with how you carried yourself. Plus she figured that you lived around here. Most people who attended Blades Academy did.
Y/N: I also feel a bit....underdressed.
Evelynn looked at your attire again. She saw nothing wrong with it. Sure it wasn't a tux or anything, but it seemed like it was so....you. But you did look a lot more relaxed than she did.
She wore a black that reached just below her knees and a white button up tucked into it. She also wore a nice necklace that she's had since she was a in 5th grade.
Evelynn: You look fine. And you can relax. This is a free dinner, remember?
You smiled slightly just as two glasses of water were set on the table.
Man: Hello, I will be you waiter for the evening.
He handed you both some menus and clasped his hands behind his back.
Man: Can I get you two started on drinks?
You and Evelynn both placed your drink orders and the man returned to wherever the hell he came from. You opened the menu, and your jaw nearly dropped to the floor.
The first price you saw was $45.
Y/N: WHAT THE HELL COSTS $45?!
You looked at the item and saw that it was a simple salmon dish. However, as you looked through the menu, you realized that it wasn't better for anything else.
The cheapest thing you found was $40. And that was an appetizer.
You slowly looked up to Evelynn and saw that she seemed complete unfazed.
Evelynn: Have you ever had Boeuf Bourguignon, Y/N?
She looked up from her menu. You slowly shook your head.
Evelynn: What about Coq Au Vin?
Y/N: I...no?
Evelynn: How about Soupe à l'oignon?
Y/N: Did you just add an e at the end of soup? I feel like you're just making things up now.
Evelynn chuckled a bit as if you had just told her a joke. You were being dead serious. The fuck was she even saying? Was this French?
Evelynn: Do you want me to order something for you?
You looked at the menu again and realized that everything was in French. You had no idea what this stuff was or if it was something you would even eat.
You were used to hamburgers and milkshakes. Not soup with a fucking e.
Y/N: Y-Yeah.
Evelynn smiled as she set her menu down. The waiter came back and gave you both your drinks. You gave a silent thank you before Evelynn placed your orders. She spoke so fluently. Did she know French? Or maybe she just memorized the words.
However, while you were awkwardly trying to make it through this date, both you and Evelynn were unaware that you were being watched.
Across the restaurant, in disguises, were the other Blades.
Kai'sa: This feels wrong, but I need to see what happens.
Ahri: I agree. We'll apologize later.
Akali: Is this a chicken biscuit? Or, Chicken Bist? The hell is this? I don't speak freaky deaky Dutch.
Back to you and Evelynn.
Evelynn noticed how nervous you seemed. She figured it was the first date jitters. In truth, you were just scared to touch something and it cost you a kidney.
Evelynn: You seem uncomfortable.
Y/N: Just a bit. Sorry.
Evelynn: No, it's okay. I get it. But, you can relax. Just have fun.
You nodded and sat up a bit. Right. Have fun. You could do that.
Y/N: Well, how have things been?
Evelynn: They've been good. I'm sorry, again, about the skateboard. My brother feels really bad and he's been trying to find a chance to apologize himself.
He has. But he could never find you at school and no one knew where you normally were. Evelynn decided against telling him about the comic book shop since she didn't want any more drama interfering with business.
Y/N: I'm sure he'll have his chance.
Yeah, you were still a bit bitter over it.
Evelynn: But, you did say something that I've been wondering about.
You raised a brow.
Evelynn: You said that it was the last gift your father ever gave you?
Did you say that? You probably did.
Y/N: Yeah.
Evelynn: If you don't mind me asking...
Y/N: I kinda do. Not really something to talk about on a.....date.
Evelynn completely understood. She decided to not push it further. But, she did want to talk to you more to get to know you.
And to figure out if she knew you.
Evelynn: So, you've lived here your whole life? How have we never met?
You shrugged.
Y/N: We run with different crowds, I guess. Plus, I grew up on the other side of town. The only place we could have met would've been at school.
That was where she met the boy she knew. So, she was getting somewhere.
Evelynn: Yeah, but that would mean we would've met, right? We always had those group projects and I'm pretty sure we worked together before.
Maybe you did. Your memory from youth was a bit....hazy. But, you did faintly remember group projects.
Eveylnn watched as you thought about it. Maybe it would click?
Evelynn: Like that one where we had to set up that obstacle course for the class mouse. What was his name?
Y/N: Mr. Whiskers.
Evelynn smiled.
Evelynn: Yeah. Mr. Whiskers. I actually hate mice, but he was cute.
You remembered the mouse. It was a white one. Red eyes. It bit Ezreal once.
Evelynn wondered if you really were him. If you really were the same Y/N she thought you were. You remembered the mouse. No one remembered the mouse.
But, why haven't you said anything about her? Could it be that you were trying to distance yourself from her?
Y/N: So, you're the only girl in your family?
Evelynn: Well, besides my mother. But, yeah. The only daughter. What about you? Any siblings?
Her Y/N was an only child.
Y/N: Nope. My mom was a one and done kind of girl.
Okay, you had to be the same person. You just had to be.
Evelynn: Is that why you're so close to your friends? You see them as siblings?
You just chuckled before you took a drink.
Y/N: I guess you could say that. Us misfits have to stick together.
Evelynn: Misfits?
You shrugged.
Y/N: None of us belong anywhere. So we joined up together. We became a kind of family through all the crap we went through.
Evelynn smirked as she leaned forward with her fist under her chin.
Evelynn: Why don't you tell me more?
You smiled.
Y/N: How about a story for a story? I tell you something about me and my friends, and you tell me something about you and yours.
Evelynn: I can work with that.
-------------
The other Blades found themselves actually impressed by you.
No one has ever gotten Evelynn to laugh this much for this long. But you had her rolling.
Eveylnn: You did not!
Y/N: I did, though. But Ezreal stepped in before it could escalate any further. Good thing he did too, cause that would've been rough.
Evelynn: So, so let me get this straight. You, in an attempt to distract his drunk cousin, punched yourself?
Y/N: And it worked.
Evelynn laughed at your story as you finished off the last of your food. You couldn't even lie. You had a good time on this....date. Actually, it was so fun you didn't even realize how late it had gotten.
You happened to look over at the clock and saw that it was just past 9. Probably time to pack it in.
And on cue came the waiter who placed the check on the table. Evelynn immediately grabbed it, placed her card on it, and handed it to him with such speed and grace that you almost wanted to clap. The waiter nodded and went to cash her out.
Y/N: You...You didn't even look at the price.
Evelynn just shrugged. Must be nice coming from a well off family.
Evelynn: I have to say, Y/N, I have throughly enjoyed myself tonight.
You smiled.
Y/N: Me too. It's amazing how we've never spoken up til last week.
However, something crossed your mind.
Y/N: Hey, why were you looking for me?
Evelynn looked at you for a moment. She could come out and say it. She felt like now would be a good time. But, she wanted to ask one last thing.
Evelynn: Do you like my eyes?
You raised a brow and looked at her eyes. They looked golden. Hypnotic.
Y/N: Yeah. They're very pretty. Very....beautiful.
Evelynn could feel herself blush a bit.
Evelynn: I...I was looking for you because I wanted to know something.
Y/N: Wanted to know something? And what was that?
Evelynn slowly looked up at you.
Evelynn: If you were the same Y/N who was my best friend up to 2nd grade.
Her best friend? 2nd grade?
Y/N: I.....don't think so. My first friend was Ezreal and that was back in kindergarten. Besides him, I was on my own.
Evelynn was surpsied to hear that. Your only friend was Ezreal? But, Y/N's only friend was her. They did everything together.
You really weren't him?
Y/N: Sorry if I got your hopes up. But, I faintly recall there being another Y/N back in 1st grade. Uh, I think he moved away or something.
Evelynn: Oh.
Oh.
You leaned back in your seat and crossed your arms. You really weren't lying. You have never talked to her up til last Friday.
Y/N: Yep.
You then looked at her.
Y/N: You're not upset, are you?
Evelynn shook her head.
Evelynn: No. Not at all. A bit disappointed, maybe, but not because of you.
You nodded.
Y/N: So.....where does that leave us?
Evelynn: Huh?
Y/N: Well, I'm not the guy you thought I was. You probably don't want to waste your time with me anymore, right?
Evelynn: N-No! I really do enjoy your company! And, I do like you and your friends. Of course I want to spend more time with you. You're a great guy.
You were? You were a bit unconvinced, but you did have fun. You didn't want to go and ruin the night by souring the mood anymore.
But you did smirk.
Y/N: So, does that mean there'll be a second date?
The waiter came back with the check and card and set it down in front of Evelynn. He walked off and Evelynn stared at you.
Were you asking her out on a second date?
Evelynn: A...a second date?
You nodded.
Y/N: I have to get you back for this one. But maybe I can show you my side of the tracks.
Evelynn: But, this was to make up for Nocturne almost hitting you.
You shrugged.
Y/N: You don't have to apologize for your brother's mistakes. He can do that himself. This was just to save the truce. Which, you know, I think we did.
Evelynn smiled.
Evelynn: Okay, then. A second date. Sounds nice.
You smiled a bit wider.
You just got yourself a second date with Evelynn LeBlanc.
-----------
The Blades watched you and Evelynn from behind a car as you walked her to hers.
Evelynn: I can give you ride.
Y/N: Nah. I like the walk. Besides, I don't want to keep you out later than necessary.
You reached her car and she turned on her heels to look at you.
Evelynn: Well, I really did have fun. And, I can't wait for the next one.
You smiled as you slipped your hands into your pockets.
Y/N: Yeah. Me too.
The Blades all watched in anticipation.
Ahri: Is she going to kiss him?
Kai'sa: Or ask him to stay the night?
Akali: She looks really happy.
She did. She couldn't explain it, but the way you treated her made her feel good. You didn't treat her like Evelynn LeBlanc, one of the Blades.
You treated her like a person. Not an idol.
It was refreshing.
Evelynn: Sorry, I just feel like I should hug you or something. I'm not used to going out with guys who haven't already tried to kiss me or something.
You shrugged and held your arms out.
Y/N: Hugs are fun.
Evelynn just smiled as she gave you a hug. She rested her head on your chest and closed her eyes.
You were nice. So nice. You never once made her feel uncomfortable or like you were aiming for something more. She's had too many dates with guys who have tried to cope a feel or went straight for a kiss.
You, weren't like that.
Blades: Awwww~
You lifted your head at the noise and looked around confused. Was someone watching you?
Evelynn pulled away and leaned up to give you a kiss on the cheek.
Evelynn: Stay safe getting home.
Y/N: I'll try not to get hit by a car.
You both shared a laughed before Evelynn walked to her door.
Evelynn: Goodnight, Y/N.
Y/N: Goodnight, Evelynn.
She got into her car and backed out while you watched. Once she was gone, you smiled. You then pumped your fist in the air and turned to head home.
Not a bad first date.
