Sleepless Nights:

Dream World:

Trying to catch her breath after losing sight of her, Davina leaned against one of the weathered, moss-covered walls of Lafayette cemetery, the ancient stones offering a cool, solid support amidst the emotional turmoil.

Davina, unable to risk looking back, took a tentative step forward, only to feel a vine unexpectedly wrap around her ankle.

"Incendia," she whispered, wincing as she placed her hands on the thorn-covered vines to burn them off of her ankle.

But no fire came to her assistance.

She tried again, her hands bleeding as she pressed deeper into the thorns, "Incendia!"

But still, no fire came to help her.

The chilling vines tried to pull her under as they wrapped around her ankles and dragged her back.

Icy horror tried to drown her when the vines tightened against her ankles and dragged her back.

The chilling sensation of dread threatened to drown her when more vines coiled around her ankles with a bone-chilling grip.

Letting out a screech, Davins groaned in pain as her forehead smacked against the ground when the thorned vines tugged her backwards with relentless force.

"NO!" Davina screeched, using her fingers to dig into the ground and stop the vines dragging her into the unknown but it did nothing but tear at her skin, leaving tiny trails of blood as she continued to be pulled back.

When the vines stopped tugging her back, but remained around her ankles, Davina's body was flipped by a strong force of magic so she could meet the eyes of her attacker.

Letting out a panicked scream, Davina writhed in pain from the intensity of the green light stealing her vision temporarily and at the feeling of her attacker carving something - a symbol- onto her forehead.

With her eyes blinded, Davina could only make out that her attacker was a blowoman

When the green light died down and her vision returned albeit blurry, Davina could make out that her attacker was a blonde woman but when the woman began to smile, the burning pain around her body began to worsen until it became unbearable and the only thing Davina was capable of doing was screaming.

Gasping and drenched in sweat, Davina sat upright in her bed, rubbing her shoulder in a self-soothing action to calm herself down for the 5th night in a row of vision-fuelled nightmares.

Once her body calmed down enough that her hands stopped shaking, Davina turned on her lamp and grabbed her notebook to write down every detail of the vision/nightmare she had been stuck in. After a while, she headed down to her study and settled onto the floor for a meditation session, seeking to find calm and peace for her troubled mind.

"What are you thinking about मेरी प्यारी लड़की (my sweet girl)?"

A.N Gia speaks Hindi BUT I don't so please don't come after me for using Google translate

Davina let out a slow, deep breath, her chest rising and falling in a calming rhythm. With a deliberate motion, she opened her eyes to meet the gaze of Gia, whose concerned expression reflected a mix of worry and care.

The witch sighed, her shoulders loosened from their previous stiff posture, "I had a vision a few hours ago but this time it felt different. It felt too real to be a vision,"

Observing Davina's shaken state after experiencing the vision was disconcerting, as Gia had never seen her so affected by a dream. In a comforting gesture, Gia opened her arms, and the brunette witch instinctively sought solace in Gia's embrace.

"Tell me what happened this time," Gia asked gently as she combed her fingers through Davina's loose braids to detangle her hair.

"It wasn't the Harvest this time before you say anything." Davina stated before burrowing further into Gia as if to hide from the remnants of the vision nightmare clinging onto her, "I was running from another witch in the cemetery. A powerful one, I want to say but she used a green stone to help harness her power so I'm not sure if she's actually that powerful, but the way she used those vines to drag me and then flip me over, that was pretty powerful, to be honest. But then again, she could have been using the green rock thingy to flip me over but the vines had these thorns and my fire spell wasn't working on them so she could be really powerful and if that's true then I'm really weak compared to her and more like to die if I-,"

"Vina," Gia interrupted, stopping the brunette witch from continuing with her ramblings, "Breathe जानेमन (sweetheart). Just keep breathing for me,"

When did she stop breathing? Davina wondered as she tried to copy Gia's forced breathing to calm her down.

Once her mind came back from its foggy haze, Davina lifted her head from Gia's chest to make eye contact with the vampire's serious expression.

"Davina," Gia started, rubbing the witch's cheeks soothingly, "I'm going to ask you a question and I need you to be honest with me, ok?"

At Davina's nod, Gia asked in a gentle but firm tone, "Have you been taking your anxiety medication?"

At Davina's guilty look and her shoulders dropping like a kid caught in a lie, Gia sighed and brought the witch back into her arms, "I know that you don't like the medication मेरी प्यारी लड़की (my sweet girl) but it's there to help you so you don't have these kinds of anxiety attacks, ok?"

Davina stays silent for a few moments before nodding her head, "I know, I know. I just forgot with how busy the city has been these past few days."

Gia kissed Davina's forehead and brushed her hair out of her face, "I'm aware of that which is why instead of me, you're going to go and see Regent LaRue at 9 am tomorrow,"

"No, Gia," Davina whined, getting out of the vampire's hold to look her in the eye, "You know what she's like around me,"

"An overbearing magical mother hen who cares about you and wants you as her successor of Regent of the New Orleans Witches?" Gia deadpanned raising an eyebrow.

Davina stammered a few seconds before slumping, "Yeah. She's exactly that."

Gia only smiled at Davina before patting the young witch's head, "I know that you don't like how Josephine's attention on you has increased from the night of the Harvest but she cares about you, Davina."

"Or maybe, she's just checking up on whether or not I've died yet from the aftermath."

Gia's smile dropped into a frown as she dragged Davina back into her arms, "No talking about dying. Ok? Especially not around me and Marcel."

Davina sighed, understanding why Gia requested this.

The witch thinks that she'll never forget the scene of waking up after the Harvest to find Marcel on his knees begging her to wake up because he didn't want to turn her against her will and a blood-covered Gia pacing her room and demanding to know information on why she wasn't waking up from the witch doctors.

The vampire-witch pair lay like that in comfortable silence, holding each other to remind them that the other was there.

Someone knocked on the door causing both the girls to turn their heads to the door.

Thierry's head popped in and smiled in relief before entering the room, "I found you at last Gia. Katie's been blowing up my phone on looking for you. Something about needing your special tea."

Gia's eyes lit up in understanding and began to move, drawing Thierry's to the witch in her lap.

Thierry's eyes lit up with mischief, "Hey chomper." He greeted, staring down in mirth at the witch.

Davina playfully glared at Thierry, "When will you ever stop calling me that name?"

Thierry chuckled and shook his head, "Never. Or unless you do something worse than biting off someone's-" he replied but paused his sentence and tilted his head to listen to something.

Gia was also doing the same.

Trying not to cross her arms and pout, Davina watched in envy as the two vampires listened to whatever they were listening to. The witch had always hated being at the disadvantage of not having enhanced hearing like the other supernatural creatures.

The vampires both stood up all of a sudden, causing Davina to let out a yelp as she was dropped out of Gia's lap and onto the floor.

Normally Thierry would have snickered at her pain but it seemed whatever he heard was too serious for him to joke around with Davina.

"Something serious has come up because Marcel has called a meeting at the compound," Thierry informed Davina.

Gia was still listening before she stopped and turned to Davina, worry written then she turned to Davina, "He wants you there as well."

This caused Davina to feel worried as well because Marcel always did his best to avoid Davina joining in with the nitty gritty details of New Orleans politics unless it concerned the witches.

Davina stood up and began walking to the door, turning her head to face her vampire companions, "Well let's find out why we're being summoned."

Once the trio had arrived at the compound, they found chaos.

What the hell happened here? Was Davina's first thought as she registered the confused and angered shouts and the broken statues littering the floor.

Both Davina and Thierry walked to the table where all the vampires were shouting at one another and others looking panicked to help calm them down whereas Gia walked straight to where Marcel was sitting with Regent Larue.

Gia took Marcel's face in her hands and asked firmly after witnessing the chaos that ensued around the compound because Marcel wouldn't appreciate being babied in front of his companions, "What happened मेरा दोस्त (my friend)?"

The supernatural present in the room began to calm down, with the help of Davina and Thierry and after seeing Marcel's right hand, Gia, arrive allowing Marcel to explain the situation which caused such a ruckus, "Katie was on her assigned patrol to make sure no one had gone against the rules when she saw Sophie Deveraux talking with a vampire."

Thierry interrupted to come to his lover's defence, "Katie wouldn't lie about anything to do with seeing Deveraux. Especially after the Harvest."

At saying the last part, all eyes seemed to land on Davina whose gaze remained fixed on Marcel, prompting him to continue so she wouldn't pass out from the attention.

Marcel turned to his friend and said, "I believe you Thierry, Katie has proven herself a loyal asset to New Orleans." before turning to Gia and continuing his explanation, "Sophie Deveraux being with a vampire wouldn't be a problem usually because there have been a lot of vampire-witch relationships over the years."

At this statement, the vampire-witch couples present in the room smiled at their significant other and intertwined their hands.

"But Katie felt her magic screaming at her to leave because the vampire was dangerous so she left and went to Regent Larue."

Davina spoke for the first time during the explanation and walked to the Regent asking gently as if not to spook the elder who held a haunted gaze in her eyes, "What did you find out, Regent Larue?"

Regent Josephine Larue took Davina's hands in her own scarred ones and gently stroked them, "This was no ordinary vampire, my dear. This was one of the old ones who fled New Orleans after the Opera House Fire of 1919. This vampire who has entered New Orleans and was seen with Ms Deveraux is none other than Elijah Mikaelson. And we are all aware of what follows when one Original comes to a town. Aren't we, my dear?"

Davina continued, "The rest of the Original Family follows and with all of them in one city, death and destruction are bound to follow them."

At her statement, the room descended into silence as if something had sucked the life out of all of them.

But as quickly as the silence came, it left and the room plummeted into panic and shouts once more.
