Chapter 3

Abi stood back slightly, smiling, as Bucky talked to a woman behind a market stall about plums. She noticed the way he was using his metal hand to handle the fruit. She'd seen that arm used for devastating purposes but here he was now being extremely gentle. She couldn't help but smile.

He turned to find her grinning at him. "What?"

"Nothing." She replied taking his hand as they carried on walking.

A police car approached and they could hear the sirens. Abi felt Bucky tense and grip her hand a little tighter. She rubbed circles on the back of his hand as it passed and he relaxed.

"How about you go and get the bread, and I'll go and get some milk?" Sha said moving to stand in front of him.

"You sure?" He asked.

"What's the worst that can happen? I'll meet you back at the apartment." She stood on her toes and pressed a small kiss to his lips before walking off.

He watched her go but noticed a man in a newsstand that had been watching them. He glanced for Abi, but she was already out of sight. As he walked up to the stand the guy ran away. He picked up a paper and saw a photo of himself. The headline was about a bombing in Vienna that he was being blamed for. He turned and started back for the apartment. He couldn't go after Abi; there were too many ways she could have gone. He would just have to wait for her or, if things went sideways, they had a plan.

When Bucky got back Steve was already there. Sam had just told him that the German special forces were closing in.

Steve turned and looked Bucky up and down. "Do you know me?" Steve asked.

"You're Steve." Bucky said. "You're Abi's brother."

"Where is she?" Steve questioned.

"We weren't in Vienna. We don't do that anymore." Bucky told him.

"Well, the people who think you did are coming here now. And they're not planning on taking either of you alive." Steve said. "I need you to tell me where Abi is."

"She's at the market." Bucky said.

"Sam." Steve said.

"On it." Sam replied over comms.

They heard steps on the roof and in the stairwell.

"This doesn't have to end in a fight, Buck." Steve tried.

"It always ends in a fight." Bucky replied, taking his gloves off.

"Got her." Sam told Steve as he spotted Abi.

She handed over the money for the milk but ducked to the side and spun round as a black clawed hand tried to punch her. She looked at the man who was dressed in a bullet proof, black suit that resembled a panther.

"Who the hell are you?" Abi asked.

She didn't get a reply as he swung at her again. She smashed the milk bottle over his head and then sent him flying using her powers. She noticed Sam flying towards her and looked to the apartment block.

"Bucky." She muttered as she set of sprinting to the block.

Meanwhile, a series of grenades came through the windows of the apartment. Steve knocked one back out with his shield and Bucky kicked him another which he put his shield over. They tried to smash in the door as Bucky pulled the mattress off the bed to stop a shotgun shell. He pushed the mattress to one side and flipped the tale into the door; blocking it so they couldn't get in. Some guys came through the window and Bucky shoved one back out while Steve decked and knocked out another. Steve opened the balcony door and Bucky kicked another guy off.

"Buck, stop!" Steve screamed as he grabbed Bucky's arm. Bucky flipped him round. "You're gonna kill someone." Steve said but Bucky slammed him into the ground.

Bucky punched through the floor at the side of Steve's head. "I'm not going to kill anyone." Bucky said as he pulled out the backpack Abi had in Madrid. He flung it onto the roof of the building across.

Another guy came through the window and opened fire on them. Bucky used his arm to deflect the bullets before Steve shielded them both with his shield. Another man stood by the other window and Bucky threw Steve through the window at him. He moved up to the guy with the machine gun and slammed him into some shelves. One of the other guys got back up so Bucky threw a cinderblock at his chest, knocking him flying. One of the men shotguned the door hinges but before he could push it off, Bucky pushed it into them, sending them to the ground. He then flipped one guy while kicking a few others back down the stairs.

A man came through the ceiling but Bucky grabbed his gun and knocked him out before knocking out several others that came at him. More guys started coming up the stairs so he jumped down a floor and started fighting them. Steve had gotten back to his feet and quickly followed. He grabbed a man that Bucky knocked over the stairwell.

"C'mon man." Steve muttered as Bucky elbowed a guy in the face.

Bucky ripped off part of the railing and used it to swing himself down a few more floors. He landed and kicked a man through a door. He started taking out some others as Steve fought his way down. Steve threw his shield and knocked a guy out before he could shoot Bucky. Bucky looked at him before vaulting over the railing. He fell around six floors before he caught another rail with his left hand and pulled himself over. Bucky kicked down a door, vaulted the balcony and landed with a roll on the building across.

Steve fought his way down but a telekinetic pulse went off and knocked all the men to the floor. He went to go after Bucky, when Abi grabbed him with her powers and pulled him back.

"We weren't in Vienna." She assured him. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" Steve asked in confusion.

She slammed him back with her powers and took off after Bucky. Bucky was fighting the panther dude that she had seen in the market. Abi saw Sam fly around the corner at the same time as a helicopter. The helicopter opened fire on Bucky and the panther.

"Sam, mind getting that." Abi said in his head.

He obliged and took it out. Abi ran up and kicked the panther guy off Bucky. He swung at her again but she landed a kick on his chest and pushed him back with her powers. Bucky grabbed his backpack and flung it onto his back.

"We've got to move." Abi said as they ran for the edge of the building and jumped. She caught them both and they set off running; the panther quickly chasing them.

Steve was quick to pursue them. Abi and Bucky jumped through a hole in the road onto the road below. They set off running again with the panther and Steve right behind. All of their enhancements began to show as they outran the speeding traffic. Steve stopped a police car, pulled out the driver and started driving after the three of them. Steve over took the panther but he jumped onto the back of the car. Sam and a whole army of police were following.

The police came down the road at them both so Abi pushed Bucky over onto the other side of the road. Steve crashed through the barricade and followed them. Abi used her power to pull over a car to prevent anyone else getting through. Bucky grabbed a bike that was coming towards them and flipped and landed on it. Abi jumped on behind him and he set off. The panther tried to jump at them but Abi grabbed him with her powers and threw him off. The panther grabbed onto Sam as Bucky threw a grenade that stuck to the top of the roof.

It blew up as the panther jumped and took out the back wheel of the bike sending them all rolling across the ground. Steve jumped out of the car and tackled the panther back before he could get to Bucky. Abi pulled Bucky to his feet as they were surrounded by police. Steve looked at his sister and held out a hand to stop her running. She let out a shaky breath and grabbed Bucky's arm as Rhodey landed.

"Stand down now." Rhodey said. Abi met Bucky's eyes before she raised her hands.

"Rhodes." She muttered. Even though she couldn't see his eyes she could tell he was glaring at her.

"Congratulations, Cap. You're a criminal." Rhodey said as Steve raised his hands as well.

The cops grabbed Bucky and took him to the ground before putting him in cuffs. Abi tensed as they grabbed her arms and pulled them behind her back before they cuffed her as well. She met Bucky's eyes as they pulled him up. They put Sam and Steve in cuffs as well as the panther took off his mask to reveal T'Challa.

"You're highness." Rhodey said.
