~ Final Chapter ~
TW: very aggressive murdering, lots of blood (idk I never put warnings before and think I should maybe start doing that)
Techno grabbed Phil by the wrist and pulled.
The angel yelped in surprise when he was yanked to the side.
There was a loud bang that rang through the air.
Techno slumped into his arms, unmoving and heavy.
A deafening silence rang in his ears. No breathing... no heartbeat.
"Techno?" Phil pushed the body of his friend away just enough to see his face. Half-lidded red eyes stared off in the distance, dark and cold, all light faded from them. A bit of blood was trickling from the corner of his mouth and his skin grew paler with every passing second. "Tech? No... nononono don't do this to me! Wake up!"
Phil sunk to his knees, the body of his friend limp in his arms as he cradled him against his chest. Blood started to pool beneath his body, a pool of the precious life liquid that was now leaving Techno's body. "Wake up god dammit! You promised you wouldn't leave me!" A violent sob shook his body as he buried his face in Techno's hair, squeezing him tightly as if it would return the life that was slipping away back into his body. "You promised... please..."
But his friend remained still, his skin cold and the pool of blood growing larger. His wings wrapped tightly around the two, shielding them as the angel cried and begged his friend, his brother, his only family, to come back to him. To stay with him. To not leave him all by himself again. His hands pressed tightly on the bullet wound, trying desperately to stop the blood from flowing out, but to no avail.
An agonized scream ripped from his throat when Techno didn't respond to his pleas, echoing throughout the empty garden, the only sound heard in the silence. He was gone. The only person he ever called his friend, who got to see him at his lowest points and was there to hold and comfort him, was taken away from him. He was alone again...
They took him away from you
Phil lifted his head to see the green guy lift Wilbur to his feet, pulling him towards the tunnel entrance as if the grieving guardian didn't even exist. His broken heart, the gaping hole left behind by Techno, was filling up with a burning rage that turned his vision red, a chorus of voices screaming deafening him to any other sound.
They took him
They took him
They took him
Kill them
Take your revenge
KILL HIM
Carefully, he placed Techno's body in the soft grass coated in his own blood, before standing up and grabbing his spear. Techno was gone and it's their fault. He will rip them apart, make them beg for their life, for mercy that they will never receive. Not after what they did. After he let them live and wanted to return them home to their loved ones, just to have them take away his loved one.
His rage only grew when he saw them opening up the hidden doorway. With no hesitation, he sprinted forward, his wings pinned to his back as he screamed and plunged his spear into the back of the green man. Wilbur jumped back with a surprised yelp and watched with big eyes as Phil pulled the man towards him with a snarl, eyes and crystal both glowing with the anger of a dozen lifetimes.
He ripped the spear out, kicking the body to the ground and watching him writhe in pain, gasping for air as wide green eyes stared up at him. The crystal around the man's neck glowed as he wanted to use a spell to save himself, but he wasn't fast or strong enough to react in time. Phil's wings flared out as he pulled back his arms and rammed the spear into the shaking body below, again and again, until it stopped moving and even then he kept going. His arms wouldn't stop moving until the roaring in his ears had finally stopped. Once it did, he knelt down to rip the second pair of crystal wings off the man's neck and safely tucked it away beneath his own clothes.
When he lifted his gaze, he was met with Wilbur's wide eyes from where he was pressed against the wall next to the entrance, curled in on himself and shaking. He only shrank down more as the furious angel approached him, covered in blood and dark wings spread out wide behind him, making him look much bigger than he actually was. This was no longer a guardian angel. This was an Angel of Death, ready to take his life and any life as he pleases, no longer held back by kindness. No, that died together with his friend.
"Please... I didn't mean for this to happen. Techno was my friend too. I-" Wilbur screamed as the spear got rammed into his shoulder, going right through the freshly stitched wound and out the back, pinning him against the wall behind him. "Don't you even dare to say his name!" His voice had a reverb to it now and echoed with the furious cry of dozen others, clearly showing that whoever Wilbur was facing now was not human anymore. "He saved your life! He could have killed you on the spot when trying to steal the crystal, but he didn't! And this is how you thank him!"
Wilbur wanted to reply, but was stopped by Phil punching him square in the face, grinning when he heard a satisfying crack from the other's nose. "Don't you dare call yourself his friend after what you did!" He ripped the spear out of his shoulder, just to plunge it right into the other, grinning even more when hearing the other scream in pain. He was quickly paling with all the blood he's losing and the angel was more than content with letting the man slowly bleed out.
So he took his spear, gave one last stab through the man's stomach and left him pinned to the ground to die, to slowly bleed out all by himself with no one to comfort him and bid him farewell. He doesn't deserve it.
But when Phil walked closer to Techno again and saw the lifeless eyes of his friend, all the fight drained out of his body as he sunk to his knees, wings curled around himself as a new wave of sobs and cries ripped from his throat. The hole in his heart that had previously been filled with burning rage was now empty once more, leaving him cold and broken. The screaming chorus of voices was gone again, nothing more than a faded whisper in the back of his mind, leaving him in deafening silence.
Leaving him behind
All by himself
All alone
He looked up when feeling something soft brush against his cheek. Brian cooed softly as he nuzzled more against him, a sad sound that is rarely ever heard from his precious bird. Phil didn't complain as his crow hopped into his arms and just cradled him against his chest, with Brian chirping soft words of comfort for his friend.
He wasn't all alone, he still had his murder with him that will try their best to comfort and fill the hole in his heart enough to not hurt as bad anymore. More and more crows crowd around him and Techno, a blanket of soft black feathers to protect and shield them from anyone who might be watching them, human and god alike.
They will stay with him.

Phil sighed when he got up from his position on the ground, wiping away dust and dirt from his clothes as he looked at his work. Next to the altar for Lady Death he had carved out a second statue. This one displayed a man with long, braided hair and kind eyes, his hands resting on top of a sword that was pushed into the ground. A pair of large, soft wings on his back and a necklace with a crystal heart around his neck. At the bottom of the statue he had carved words that he had spent hours thinking about.
Here lays Technoblade
The greatest guardian Sky City ever had
and the greatest friend I could have ever asked for
You sacrificed yourself for my life
and I will not let your life be in vain
I will forever carry you in my memory
Forever keeping you alive in my heart
Goodbye my friend
I will miss you
He blinked away the tears that threatened to spill as he read over the words again, instead placing another flower on the grave, a beautiful yellow rose, like the one he loved to braid into his hair. "I hope the next life isn't that boring for you Tech... I'm sure you'll find something fun to do." Despite his best efforts, a few tears still started to run down his cheeks. "Maybe try and find a new friend to braid your hair. You always looked better with a braid." He rubbed away his tears and looked over at the statue of Lady Death.
"Take good care of him... he deserves it." And with one last look at the grave, he turned and spread his wings, joining the murder of crows that was circling around in the sky outside of the garden, ready to join him on his patrol around the island. A small smile formed on his lips as his wings caught the wind that managed to come over from the storm, carrying him through the air alongside his birds.
The guardian returns to his duties, protecting the island for centuries to come.
Forever wandering this earth by himself, to never finish his story.
